I couldn't find anywhere that spoke about this. Last night trying to do the Hero System introduction quest and play 3 games, I lost stars because of my deaths in the pvp matches.
Is the star mechanic suppose to also be affected by PvP deaths?

I believe this is intended given that the star system is, from what I've read, seen as the caliber of effectiveness of the hero. Those that are considered "super-effective" maintain the 5 or 6 star max (I forget how many there are) because they are good at staying alive, dealing damage, killing people, or some other odd mix of factors. This is just my understanding of the mechanic but I might be wrong.

Errr, you don't lose stars for PVP deaths. You can only lose stars if you get killed after the match is over and leave before you recover.

Oh I beg to differ. I have had the rare joy of dying in PvP and then somehow resurrecting in the same spot with next to no health just to be killed instantly again (yes it counted for 2 deaths) and I distinctly remember losing two stars from it.

I had this happen with Ego Sprites. If they start healing you and you die, they actually rez you again with about 30 hp. This will repeat either until you click respawn before the button goes away or the heal buff disappears.

The stars system should only be affected by mob deaths in game. The mechanic behind is seems as the only thing that happens to you when you die from mobs. Example, other MMO's durability is the dying mechanic, you lose durability when you die and it cost you to repair. While in their pvp matches there is no durability lost from dying.
IMO, it should be the same in the PvP system. Your hero won't lose stars from dying in PvP.
After all considering what the stars are about/lore/what have you. It's a friendly game of competing against other Hero's.
