View Full Version : List of emotes or slash commands?

I looked around for a little in-game but couldn't find anything.
Also, how do I emote out actions? Am I stuck using asterisks for spatial RP, or am I just bad at using the /emote command. What I mean is a command like "/emote falls over" and it would show up in chat as "Namehere falls over."
Sorry if this isn't clear, my head hurts >.<

Actually, you have half the answer already. If you want to do a custom emote, just use /e or /em.
As for the built-in emotes, if you click on the chat bubble button to the right of the text entry field, there's an "Emotes" menu to select them from.

semicolons work for emotes, ie ;dance or ;wave

Are macros a thing? I don't mean crazy, recursive, auto-grinding douchiness but rather simple ones for RP. It would be great to be able to string together a spoken phrase with an emote, and map it to an action bar button or even to spice up some of my moves with an emote or phrase.

Agreed. I've got some extra space on my action bar and wouldn't mind being able to throw in a few taunts or some banter.

I found out that for a list of all commands you can use /commands or /cmds.
For macros you seem to be able to use /bind to bind a slash-command to a keypress.
/bind F11 "local Let's party! $$ emote dance01"
This should work. :)

If you click the icon on the right hand side of the chat bar you can pull up a list of all the emotes as well.

is there a way to do the emote action but with no text or with custom text?

Thanks for putting this up. I was totally lost as to how emotes and binds were operating. Silly as that sounds.

Is that $$ a separator that lets you combine any two commands into a single line? I've been hoping there was a way to do this. Thanks!

Did anyone mention using these {symbols} yet? The 'squiggly bracket' if you will, can be used to indicate small motions or mannerisms. For instance, typing {flinch} will make the word appear over your character inside a nifty, sort of pinched symbol. Try it, it's good. I tend to slip them into my sentences for added effect.
Try typing something like (minus the qoutation marks), "Magic? {tch} I'd like to see magic create a 52-inch tv that can do the dishes while you're watching the game."

This.
Is FREAKIN' AWESOME. Watching my character shout, "You're next, ugly!" and pull a thumb over his throat with Taunt01 is sooooo cool!

This may be a dumb question, but how do I get rid of the redunancy in the /emote. For instance, when I bow, it says something like Gethron@Gethron bows.

That's how the system identifies unique characters. Since more than one account can have a character with the same name, you are always tagged as Character@Account in the chat box. For example, my characters show up as Windwolf@Escher13 and Doctor Vortex@Escher13, and so on. You just happen to have a character name that is the same as your account name, but if you log on a different character, you'll see the difference.

Are aliases deleted when you quit the game? Mine was.
Is there any way to make them stick?

You can turn the @names off, if you'd like. It's in the chat options. It makes chat easier to read, also.
