View Full Version : Munitions/Gadgets - FEEDBACK NEEDED

Any feedback on either set, selection position, etc is more than welcome. Thanks.
One caveat, really not interested in taking Mini Mines - from everything I've read they make the game too easy. If anything I'd take Particle Mine for some sexy toe-bombing action. Thus far I've played this to lvl13 and am liking the results.

Haven't messed too much with Gadg. but I'll try to pick out a few things that I saw might help.
One immediate thing I noticed was Rain of Steel. I'm not too keen about picking a melee energy builder in a primarily ranged set, though I suppose with Bullet Ballet it my come in handy for the melee you fight. Unless having dual swords would be in your character concept (and it might very well be), I suggest just grabbing Gunslinger instead. That way it works both melee and ranged.
Lead Tempest is a TREMENDOUS ability, especially with Killer Instinct (and maybe Acc. Met. for some more energy if you need it), so you might take that a bit sooner. Smoke Grenade at 38 might be handy for some added support, but it would probably be much better to use earlier in the build, despite the lack of available power choices (imo).
One last thing: taking Regeneration at 32 might not be too beneficial: though it starts out great at lower levels, I hear it is really lackluster at 40. Dropping one of the Gadg. (again, I don't use too many Gadg. abilities nor do I know how important they are to your concept) for Regen earlier would, imo, be much better. A bonus to taking it late is that you can maybe respec out of it...
Other than that, looks pretty good. Hopefully some more experienced Munitions/Gadgeteers can comment further.
Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback.
Rain of Steel is in the character concept and I do like that it's a cone. Bullet Ballet definitely helps since I'm already in melee range. Also Sonic Device + Rain of Steel = WOW as far as AOE is concerned.
I was exactly sure when I should be taking Regen, so thanks much for that. In CoX I was used to playing squishies so taking in a lot of damage is something I'm used to. Maybe I'll move up that and Lead Tempest and move Toxic Nanites and Molecular Self Assembly down.

UPDATED BUILD:
I got rid of Sniper Rifle because it didn't really go with the theme of him using handguns only - though I do have another character planned that gonna use all the guns ^_^

I am putting together a similar build but a bit more Gadget focused then Munitions. I would recommend going with Sonic Blaster with the Cone advantage of rain myself as that works even better with the Sonic Device and is obviously in your Mun/Gadget set. Also I know you are focusing on handguns, but man Shotguns are a blast (and also work really well with Sonic Device)

I'm with MetFan here. The Sonic Blaster once advantaged for the cone is one of the cooler Energy Builders. And works great with the Gadget "Buff" attacks. Plus it should take on the graphic replace for any pistol costume item you decide to tailor.
Other then that having little experience with Munitions the "Must" powers from Gadgeteering forme are: (Note: you don't have to take these just my personal preference)
Sonic Blaster: (AoE advantaged)
Chain Saw Gauntlet
Sonic Device
Toxic Nanites
Orbital Cannon (Anvil Advataged)
Mini-mines (Not needed but fun)
The rest I could take or leave. If the pet AI and pathing gets fixed they would be up there on the musts as well right now they are just so so.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm keeping Rain of Steel for concept reasons and for the Grinning Ghost advantage that I'm really starting to love. My next character is definitely making use of the Shotguns and Assault Rifles along with Sonic Device though. I tried them on this character, but it just didn't fit the concept.
Updated Build
Dropped Particle Mine and Smoke Grenade for Bountiful Chi Resurgance and Holdout Pistol.

After reading more feedback, I'll definitely give the Sonic Blaster a shot in Powerhouse and see how I like it.
