View Full Version : King Pong tips?

I'm level 14 and now have access to King Pong but for some reason, this one is giving me quite some problems.
When I fail a mission I usually find a way to adjust and get around it but this one, no idea why, I'm stuck. I haven't been able yet to find some people to group for it (will probably look for a guild to help that) but until then, I'm wondering if anyone could give me some tips for this mission.
I have a force CON/END build with Force Eruption, PFF and Containment Field (I thought it would be a nice power to handle multiple opponents but I found that it's usually not something that will change the battle a lot due to its limited duration).
So beside getting some people to help (which I will try) anyone have some tips for this mission solo?
Thanks

I assume its the ambush you are having problems with.
As soon as the ambush phase starts, back yourself into the corner so you can't be surrounded, that will help you manage the mobs because then you can block in a more efficient manner.
The corner I mean by the way is to your left as you enter the warehouse...there is equipment there as well which gives you some effective cover.

Hmm...well, the ping-pongs balls on the floor affect the ground-based npcs as well as you, so you can try knocking them into that area.
You can also move around the shelving to get out of the line of fire for a moment or two. And don't forget to block when you're getting hammered.
Other than that, prioritize targets. The villains' holds can be irritating while the spotlights...do nothing at all?

oh, yep, the ambush. I can get rid of the first 2 easily but having a problem to be top shape before the next wave.
Or should I go for the Foxbat projector? Now that I'm thinking about it, could it be that as long as the Foxbat projector is alive that the guards will keep respawning? That might be my problem.

Nah, there's like 2 waves, then friendly npcs show up and should be able to help out, at which point the quest is done. I finished the quest twice in beta before I even noticed the radio in the back.

I've done level 17 missions at 15, but this one I had to level to 16 to do even though it says '14' on it. It's freaking hard.

when you get low on health leave and come back in, or just do that from the start, its much easier when you come back in

Theres a radio in back? Gack. I never really explored the mission room enough I guess.
What does it do or what is it?

Not gonna ruin the radio: Go listen for yourself.
That said--I've done this on multiple characters and hardly took any damage. The trick is to duck behind the trucks. This will cause the battlebots to come around after you, usually arriving only one at a time, so you can single duel them instead of taking on the whole group.
If you have ludicriously high strength, you can also use the trucks as projectiles to mess some stuff up in the second wave.

Right and try if you have a good range attack to lure them near the stocks o gas cylinders and Blamo
they also slip and fall o n the Ping pong balls which is hilarious if you hop or fly over them.. The radio..
I do not want to spoil big things but this is a nice thing..
Foxbats big on humour and when you beat him the radio in the back left of the place is on a table..
Click the glowie and he talks to you.. or text you about how he feels about you.. very nice bit.
Also as you can gain Perk points for destroying things you can toss boxes crates from the side of the big trucks at the bots.. the little spotlight flyers hit you with a hold like beam almost very annoying little critters.
I have tossed stuff from a top the trucks but they close fast and spread out so one thing wont hit them all..
they spawn on the right of the spilled balls area and behind you... depends on your strength if you can lift one of the forklifts it does alot of damage to them and can trigger the gas cylinders to explode..
great fun that. also if you have 2 in a team one can always maneuver and engage them whilst the other heals or gets a better perch.

even on the rare chance you die during the ambush you still respawn right in that room, just continue to kill until the back up arives.
This quest is pretty easy.

When dying I receive a message that the quest is failed. Mind you, I never kept fighting after that. Maybe the message is misleading or it's bugged.
Anyway, thanks everyone for the tips, I think I have enough stuff to try in a smarter way and hopefully succeed.

Don't die!... What I did the second time (since I had partied with this guy a bit after the crisis) was bring someone to the mission, and when we got in; one person backed into the corner so they wouldn't be seen and the other would FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT even if they died and it failed for them. After he killed everything and it completed for me he would get the mission again then come back and redo it, just this time I'd fight and he'd hide, since the mission didn't count for the party if I died it only failed for me... This was the OB though idk if they changed it since then. :o

Got it on the first time I tried it back.
Went flying and moved around the ping pong balls to get cover behind trucks and crates. Guards were falling down so I've been able to fight them one by one while the others were busy getting up and falling down again.
Once they reached me, I moved to the other side and repeated. Quite easy that way in fact, should have figured this out before. Oh well, live and learn...
