View Full Version : Xfire CO detection

Just wondering, is Xfire any sort of bugged with detecting CO? My laptop Xfire detects it, but my PC doesn't and it's kinda annoying as I play mainly on my PC :( Any hints? I've already re-installed it and re-detected games.

first this is a problem with xfire and should be on their forums not this one
second it will tell people that you are playing CO but doesn't have the capacity to record anything so when the next update comes out a lot of people will "play it for the first time"

Xfire has been recording my hours. I have 16 hours on Champions so far.

*points at gaming history too* By the way, don't take my Xfire login name the wrong way. I used to play CoD1 a lot and my clan liked to use me as bait... :( That's where I got my name.

Try pointing Xfire to your CO installation directory manually. I had to do the same thing for Age of Conan.

Nope, but it is on my laptop which is weird. I've downloaded and re-installed xfire on my pc so I doubt its out of date or something :S

Try asking for help on the Xfire forums too. They might be able to help you a bit more than we can.

Have you checked to make sure the directories that the game is installed in are the same between your laptop and desktop? If they were installed to different directories this can explain why you’re experiencing this issue. If you can’t get additional information from Xfire I can look into this.

Just a suggestion but I was having the same issue this weekend. I fired up xfire just now and it found the game and launched to the login screen so perhaps you may want to try searching for installed games again if that doesn't work the manual setup should.

On the X-Fire boards the developers stated that there is an issue with X-Fire and Vista, and by extension I would think Windows 7, and their in-game features.

That means that X-Fire detects Champions Online, but none of it's other in-game features are currently working in Vista, or Windows 7

This does not seem to be related to UAC, i.e. whether it is run in administrator mode or not.

Fraps isn't free, and how do you convert the raw video files (which can be HUGE) to upload to..say youtube?

You need to improve your google skills and actually visit the links :-)

Fraps is 37US to save more than 30 seconds of video.

We did find that in Champions Online, Alt+Tabbing while using Xfire in Game can cause some unintended behavior (including the behavior that you're describing). This is actually why there is no Xfire in Game in Vista (it seemed to be significantly worse in Vista than in XP so we disabled Xfire in Game support for it in Vista altogether). Again, this behavior occurs only when Alt+Tabbing in Champions Online.

That was found on the X Fire forums posted by an Admin. Looks like there is no support for us Vista users. /wrist

I was about to say, you must be running Vista. I also run vista. There is no plans to make XFire more compatible with Vista, because.. well I'm pretty sure it's just too much work because Vista is a P.I.T.A.
