OK, so I enjoy Champions online. the Gameplay is fun and engaging, and beating up other superheroes is a BLAST but....

This Qularr event is Jank.

CRYPTIC: Give EVERYONE Who participated in the event the action figures available Please! Many people spent hours of their lives standing at your spawn point for the 5 seconds of fighting qularr that thisbroken event gave.

Admin posters have admitted the event is broken and that future events need to be fixed, so Please dont punish the people who preordered your game.

Seriously, this does need to be addressed.

Some of us don't have the ability to sit the whole day and hope for 1-5 kills per spawn every half hour to an hour.
Two hours last night, one hour today and sitting at 6/100 because the swarmlords are being offed right out of the bat makes it stunningly frustrating to even try to get there.

Possible solutions;
1) Up the HP/level of the swarm lords.
2) Don't end the event with the death of the swarm lords, have it run for a specific ammount of time like the public quests.
3) Lower the requirements for the perk
4) Increase the number of spawns.
5) Remove the massive number of NPCs attacking the invasion force.
6) Make a combination of the above solutions.

Really, you only have to do 1 damage to a destroid to get the perk from end of beta, but you have to wade through hours and hours of sitting and waiting just to not make it for headstart?

Throw a bone here.
:(

it's ridiculous as it is. "get a 3 day headstart so you can stand around a fountain for hours on end never seeing a qulaar"

WTH kind of invasion is that? They dont seem to have their hearts in it. did we break their spirit in the tutorial?

I agree the Invasion should be more Invasion like, instead of ending in 10 seconds. Either buff the Swarmlords HP up a couple ranks or have the invasion not end when they die.

I've spent hours camping and so have my friends and this definitely has soured an otherwise happy time (launch).

Yeah I agree...

I was getting 5 - 10 kills per hour. Not good. Managed to to get to 49 kills before utter boredom and the need to find something more fun to do kicked in!

This really highlights what a BAD idea it is to launch a game over the weekend (even if it is just the 'headstart').

A broken event for those who showed support to Cryptic by pre-ordering, is not a good way to start an MMO, and build a happy community.

The reward may only be an Action Figure - but for some of us it's a 'we were there' badge. And unfortunately real life calls, and so it won't be a reward I'll be getting, despite my best efforts.

This is rather disappointing - especially as Cryptic have plenty of experience from CoX. I signed up for a lifetime sub on the strength of CoX; this broken event has marred an otherwise solid and fun launch.

I'm sure, like others, I'll be watching the quality of future events carefully and the speed Cryptic responds to problems.

I fully agree. I spent every moment I could waiting for spawns that didn't come only to get in one attack and have the event end. MAKE IT FUN or don't do it. Events should be fun and inclusive not a way to punish players. Please reward people who fully support your game by supporting us.

I agree.

I got a cybertron figure and I didn't even get to log on for that event. I was at work all day and planning to play when I got home but it ended early. The fact I got one anyway, just for being in the open beta was awesome.

So, with this thing, where yet again, I have a job like all of you and can barely kill anything at the invasions, I'd hope that they would just give everyone in headstart the action figure.

I was lucky and did the event when it wasn't broken. Got 40 kills in one go. So completed the 100 kills in three. Also managed to find a nice invasion where I went solo up against 5 swarmlords, so got a lot of the drops. But I have witnessed how invasions now are over before they even start. I saw one invasion that spawned as little as 1 Drone and 1 Firebug in the first wave. 1 Buckkeeper and 1 Firebug in the second and then 1 Swarmlord and 1 bodyguard and was over.

Really. Way to screw up the event and sour the game before the launch even starts. All these starry eyed people are gonna join tommorrow and be greeted by a mass of irritated players who've gotten to witness how the game's barely progressed past the level of the open Beta.

The Qularr are an absolute joke. But going by that lovely 'Roper-Logic' from the interview in the latest news post the next event is going to spawn so many mobs even the mightiest of computers chokes and dies on their numbers. And the few that survive will be faced with hordes of legendary tough creatures.

I'm logged into the desert right now, and I can't find the invasion.

Good job, Cryptic. The game is going LIVE tomorrow? Sure you don't need a few weeks to get your stuff together?

The event is boned, now you have lvl 30+ people camping the spawn points and BAM! even over. It was timed at about a 45 second duration at one point today, sucked arse in the worst possible way.

Yea I have 25 of the things killed.... I dont think Im getting the full 100 by launch.

Either needed to up the spawns or have them more often... or just have them tougher. The things are downed before I can even move to them to engage. (Even when Im camping the spawn point!)

I was doing missions with a buddy of mine last night in Mil City. We were emptying our bags and I was about to head into the powerhouse when the invasion started. We couldn't fly to the invasion point fast enough (and it's only like 10 seconds away with flight, at most). I wasn't 2/3 of the way there before it ended. Really, a 7 second invasion? And when I got there I could only count about 7 or 8 other players in the area. Another time, I got to the invasion about 20 seconds after it showed up in local chat and watched about 10 mobs fall over dead with nothing attacking them. WTF???

Seriously, the invasion needs to be a timed event. It should last 10 minutes. At the end of the 10 minute event, the players either pass or fail based on how many they killed. I see no reason to not make it exactly like the invasion event in the tutorial. In fact, it should be more intense.

While I agree with you that the event needs to be longer it really isn't that hard to get the kills. I too, as many of you have said, have a job. In fact I own my own business so I likely put more hours into that than most of you do in your jobs (a.k.a. 55-60 hours/week and I don't work from home, though some probably do more than I do if they work in a hospital or are able to get serious overtime). Honestly I was able in 1 day to get the required kills for both Hero and Champion perks. Here's how I did it.

1. Log on early as possible, the less people playing the longer stuff lives...
2. Get in a team or start a team, combined kills help.
3. The swarmlords always spawn in the same spots, camp those spots when the invasion starts and ignore the little guys, just wait for one of SLs and light them up. Wham Bam Thank You Maam, you've got your kill.

I'm not trying to be a jerk about this but between work, volleyball (I play on a community team we practice 2x a week and have 1-2 games per week), cooking dinner, and cleaning the house (my roomates are kind of messy, they could be worse, they could be better) I still managed to do it. The nice thing about this event is that the enemies go down quickly so you don't need to be "Uber 1337" to pull it off.

While it's too late, the trick was to hop between mini-servers, as the invasions were not all at the same time on every one.

@Incenjucar I think by Sunday most people had cottoned on to the server rotation thing.

Unfortunately by then it was too late. Especially for those people who didn't realise the Event was even broken, and hadn't gone to the forums to see what was up.

I decided I'd start the game by leveling up my character. I couldn't play all of Friday/Saturday, but I did put in some hours. I had no idea the Event had broken otherwise I would have invested more time in it.

By Sunday the servers were full of people, and at every shard jump in the rotation there were huge crowds. After a few hours (in a group) I had only got to 49 kills. One of our group worked out he was averaging 10 kills per hour. Others were claiming even lower rates. To make matters worse, as I'm in Europe and needed to get up for work I essentially 'lost' the last 12 hours of the event because of the time difference.

This may sound like a whine, but really I'm just disappointed that I won't get the exclusive Action Figure...

To me, the comments of 'you could use the server rotation', or 'It was possible by getting up early' don't really excuse the problem. The fact is the Event did not work. It was broken. The feedback on the forums and from Devs was just about non-existent. For these reasons (more than losing out on an exclusive item), people are annoyed.

We supported Cryptic by pre-ordering (or even taking Lifetime subs) - this was not what we were expecting. When you add in the heavy handed patch that has just been pushed out, it really makes me wonder if this is the same team that worked on the excellent CoX!

OK, So I spent 4 hours last night jumping servers because I figured making this post was a short in the dark.........

Never expected them to actually do it, but I'm glad they did in the long run, most people dont have the free time I did. Glad I got the perks also tho!

With respect, I tried those ideas and they did not work for me.

Invasions lasted seconds, not minutes. Swarmlords even less time. I saw an 'invasion' in Millennium City where the announcement that the Swarmlords had arrived was followed immediately (literally half a second) by the follow-up that they had been defeated.

Teaming up with other got me absolutely no help. I don't have a dedicated group of friends, so they were all ad-hoc pick-up groups. And we were all shut out more often than not.

Folks seemed to figure out the rotation among the instances, and every one was mobbed just before. You could tell where they were going to appear next by seeing which ones had 90+ players and which had 12.

I played some in the Open Beta but not the closed, and I've been spending time experimenting rather than trying to max out a single character. That might have made some difference, since the only areas open to me were Canada, the desert, and Millennium City. Perhaps Monster Island, Area 51, and any others with swarms were less populated by other players.

I appreciate the effort that went into trying to set up a pre-launch event for those of us who were early players. It's unfortunate that it did not go as well as I'm sure they had hoped it would. There have been some good suggestions in the various threads that I've seen, and I'm sure there are more I haven't. I think personally it would be fantastic to take the best ones and incorporate them into another try down the line. Perhaps over the Thanksgiving weekend or a similar time.

Being away I hadnt checked teh boards and didnt know it was broken I just jumped back in on monday and ended up saying screw it.

My wife and I spent hour upon hour waiting for invasions, even instance hopping some. I don't think the two of us together got 100 total. We finally gave up. While i don't really care about the vanity pet, it would be nice of Cryptic to recognize that people spent their head start on an event that was unachievable.
