Stuck with "Trying to update launcher..."

Soooooooo I'm in the Desert Crisis powerhouse, when I decide to log out and roll yet another alt. I click the "yes" button on the confirmation dialog box....then my screen goes black for a second, I'm booted to my desktop, and up pops "Oops! Your Cryptic application has crashed...."

Meh, it's happened before, no big deal. I send an error report, try to restart the launcher. Now it won't get past "Trying to update launcher. Please be patient."

I want to be patient. I'm trying to be patient. Being paaaaaatient......and now I get a shiny new error message: "The connection was idle for too long." Poof, no more launcher.

So....WTF, Cryptic? what's goin on? ^^

Just noticed this myself while trying to see if the "Retrieving Characters from List" freeze glitch had been worked on at all.

Yep. Same here. Tried to switch alts, got booted back to the desktop, now I can't update. Just be patient, folks, there's a lot of stuff they're trying to fix all at once and this is probably one of the more recent issues.

Also seeing this message when I click the game icon. Can get around this by just double clicking the GameClient.exe, but am not able to log in further. :(

Heck, a friend of mine that wasn't getting the earlier "Retrieving Characters from List" bug I was got this updater freeze.

Looks like this is turning into a pretty universal ordeal. ... Oof.

Edit: Nevermind! It's fixed now, apparently. Though I'm still stuck at "Retrieving List of Characters." Dang. :mad:

I just got back from dinner and a show and decided to login. I'm getting the little cryptic autoupdater trying to update please be patient dialog. Haha while I was looking for info an writing this post it just cleared. It took like 5-10 minutes so I guess they want you to be REALLY patient...

Something server side must have crashed. Mine went straight to log in screen this time :)
