My last post on this thread was for user created quests and i have yet to get a responce. I mean seriously its awesome idea why dont they add it to game. We would never have to worry about them created new quests if we could make are own. We would have limitless content of course they will still make some quests but the option to make your own or even play with other peoples quests. I mean seriously if you read this thread here go check out my other thread if we can get people to agree and make this a issue. The devs will add it as a feature eventually soon.:) hopefully!

Simple really.

Two words for you: Mission Architect
That's from CoH, in short, more trouble than it was worth.

the MA in CoX nearly killed that game's community.
my wife is attempting to revive it with a channel dedicated to not MA playing. She was telling me the other day about her great triumph of organizing a really full Rikti mothership raid. ie: she's glad that people are actually PLAYING CONTENT AGAIN.
it's gotten that bad.

Mostly because it is launch and the game's content is new to most. So they are not concerned with it. Also we had this conversation last year, among other things. What Jack and company told us was they want to give us as much customization as they can. Dependent NPCs, tailored missions depending on what clues you find, and secret id are the things up to bat in coming updates.

That and some are burned by CoH MA system. It was kinda borked.

I'd much rather them give us content upgrades and/or start working on a full expansion cuz as it is the game is quite shallow right now. Nearly finished with it.

Player created content is an awesome idea. Of course, this all began in the PnP RPG's from the very start, when Gary Gygax assumed that his customers would be as good, or better than him in writing up their own scenarios and even worlds. So, he started the tradition of giving the players the tools to create their own content. For some reason, when gaming went digital, the designers generally assumed their customers were not competent to do so, and so did not continue this great tradition.

The one MMORPG that did an excellent job of picking it up is NeverWinter Nights (now in its second incarnation). Though there were some bugs, most were worked out, and given that the community was able to add to the game, most were worked out much faster and better than if it had only been a small team of developers. I am sure there have been other electronic games that provided tools for player-created content.

When people say that AE content almost killed the community in CoH, they can only refer to the part of the community that does not like AE content. If you like the AE content, there are plenty of people there doing it. There are some AMAZING storylines created by the players. If you skip them just because there are also farm missions, then you are really shorting yourself for no good reason. There are many that are way better than the corporate storylines.

That being said, I do think it is too early to star allowing for player-created content. Let the developers establish the storyline. I expect that once everyone has gotten into it and the basic game code is reasonably bug-free, we will be seeing a player content aspect.

Actually they are refering to the majority of players who will 'only' do the AE content. The AE is fun and all but there is more to the game than just staying in the AE building and running mission after mission.

Of course I expect that in time the novelity will wear off.
