When ever I run the patcher it tries to redownload the 3g patch, it will save the files on my desktop and not to my I:/ drive where the actual folder is.

Was wondering if anyone knew a way to fix this. I couldnt find anything that had anything to do with where the patcher downloaded the files to.

this usualy happen when all you do is copy files to a directory instead of doing the install then copy the file to the directory created by the installer. There is no registry setting telling the launcher where the game was installed so it checks the progrmmed defult directories not finding the required files so it does a full patch.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\Champions Online (http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/1883/clipboard01lq.jpg).

Just do a search in the registry for Champions and you'll find all the install locations if it's been installed. Have you moved the directory or renamed it since installing?

@ Azraelz.
You don;t have the above registry entry and the others that tell the system where the game is installed so it's using the default.

OK, after a bit of reg searching, this will probably help you both.

You may want to change "Proxy"="EU" to "Proxy"="US" - I live in UK so the EU proxy is better for me.

Copy all of the red text including the bit that says Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 or it won't merge into your registry.

Paste to notepad and save with champions.reg as the filename. Make sure notepad doesn't append .txt to it though.

Search this script below for *** and replace with the directory you have put it in. IE: D:\Champions
Don't put the trailing \ in though, it's already there where needed.

Finally double click on it and allow it to merge into your registry. That should allow you to update without it trying to save to your desktop or whatever. Note that this was saved from the XP registry so I'm not sure if it will merge into Vista or Win7 or not, never tried that before.

Hope this helps.
