Research Rating?

When I research/deconstruct an item it gives me a rating from 1 to 5 that seems to be proportional to how successful I am. What drives this rating? Is it level based? Is it specialization based? Is it random and I can't affect it by having a character w/ a different specialization deconstruct it or by going up in level first? Anyone have an idea?

It is based on the items you are using. The level and quality of an item determines it's rating. So, if you have a 5 star item, you will always get 5/5 research rating.

Do note that the rating is based on item level, item quality and your skill Tier (1-100, 101-200, 201-300 & 301-400).

An item that gives you a 5/5 rating at Tier 1 may only give you a 1/5 rating at a higher Tier.
