I'm doing the quest Minding the Mutants, but I'm a Munitions build. How do I stun these guys? Pull the trigger on my twin automatic pistols gently?

It's a matter of controlling your firepower.

When the mutant says, "Me no feel so good...", he's been weakened enough for the device you were given to take control of his mind. Stop shootng, zap him with the device, and lead him where he needs to go. You have 5 minutes to do it, otherwise you'll have to try again.

When you get the mission you are given a device that subdues the minions. Put your gun down and use the device.

I'm sure that would be good advice if when I stopped attacking the mutie when it said "I don't feel so good" and tried to use that special gun it actually worked instead of saying I must have a target. To stop attacking I have to hit escape, then re-enable the target and click on the gun, all in the small window of opportunity offered by the mob before it resumes attacking. I dropped the quest as I had no luck whatsoever completing it. I do believe the first time I had the quest I had some kind of additional stunning equipment (charged) but used that up accidentally on some other mobs in another quest, as I'm not doing just one at a time, and if you drop and retake you just get a mind control gun.

Not sure how we are doing things differently, but i just hit 1 to toggle off the auto attack, mob is still targeted, use item.
