View Full Version : Sharing is caring

I love this game! It's just about everything I wanted from a superhero MMO, except for one thing: missions. Or to be specific, how they are shared in a team. Or to be even more specific, how they are not.

My gripe is simply this: I have no idea what my teammates are up to. I can't see where their missions are or what their objectives are - except of course if the mission is shared. And the problem is that most of the time - like nine times out of ten - you can't. If there's the slightest level discrepancy or they chose to walk down another mission chain, it's either "XXX doesn't fulfill the requirements" or "YYY has already done that mission" or the one I hates the most "ZZZ is out of range".

(As soon as they're in range for sharing, they immediately go "oooh shiney!" and bounces off to hit on a mob somewhere, and then you can't share because if you do you're dead; and even if you do, they're dead because of the request window that pops up in the middle of the fight).

So they end up having no idea of what I'm up to, and I don't know what they're doing. And that makes teaming very unfriendly and frustrating. You get together as a group, and most often the team runs around like scared chicken all over the map trying to coordinate anything, and it usually ends up with everyone doing their own missions.

I like just about everything else - well, maybe except the queueing for respawns, and the unintuitive Z instead of mouse click - but this part about mission sharing reduces the team into a five man chat with occasional gathering for takedown of the one exceptional hard enemy in a lair.

So there. It's said. I guess it's said before, but I had to get it out of my system.

It is annoying, but the flip side is all the Public Missions and Lairs that teams of any level can do.

I don't think that it is a flip side. I think that's unrelated positive issue that has nothing to do with mission sharing.

I had a little think, and found out what I would like to see.

In the mission list, I would like to see the team member's name and a little arrow. Click on that arrow to expand the missions they have. Click on it again to hide it.
In the team member's mission list, non-shareable missions are dull brown; shareable missions (i.e. missions that can be shared to you) are bold. Your own shareable missions (i.e. missions you can share to at least one team member) are bold. Missions already shared are indicated by an icon of some kind.
On the map and navigator, team member's missions are also shown with a dotted outline to separate them from the solid outline of your own missions.
Finally, make missions shareable wherever the team members are. Skip that silly "in range" requirement - it's just irritating.

This way, mission sharing is made simpler and more intuitive; you are still able to help your teammates on non-shareable missions, and nothing has really changed regarding mission mechanics or rewards. You have only removed a level of frustration.

I'd have a group mission tab for the leader. List every mission everyone can take at the top, every mission everyone can take with sharing next, then all the missions 4 people have that are on a chain the 5th is beyond them on and so on.
