It was a warm September day in the year 2008, all was well, the Friday evening was ever coming closer. The one-hundred or fifty so anticipators, fans, testers, people who just wanted to play CO were going to get their first glimpse at the game on their own computer. From there a year has passed and many things have changed, friends have gone, new pals have joined, arrogant jerks are now friendly, and gosh darn it the pigs can now fly! With the advent of Open Beta the true product of CO came around, there were things to be fixed and things to still do. Eventually the very niches that based themselves on a certain activity started coming together to focus on their own personal interests. This activity is called Role-playing.

In Open Beta it was easy, we all headed to the first shard of the map and we headed toward Club Caprice, it was simple and efficient. But something came out of this, we relied on that club to do anything RP related, and then for those who didn't want to hang around in the club spaces, they came to a wall. Then later on the end of beta event! O how it destroyed us! The first few shards were constantly busy, capped at their limits. It was then that it came upon me, an omen!

With launch there would be nearly 10x the amount of players, the shards would be stretched to the 30s, 50s, 100s! The first 10 shards would be capped, what would we do! Even after the early launch is over there would still be problems for those trying to find that activity that we grew so found of!

So please, the game needs to divide its shards internally and not just by the choices of the players through mouth and tongue! When we decide to play on our characters we should be given the option to go to three separate categories of shards, RP, Casual, and Silly (Silly being another type of server I have no name for for the type of people playing!)

This needs to be done, we are divided!

I think Daeke said it best.

Onto your issue: We very much want to encourage the Role Players in our community to find a healthy place in the game to do what they want. However, a Role-Playing server is never going to be a good solution to the problem. Unless we're able to put in the immense resources involved in heavily moderating that server, it will never be a useful place to you, because there's always going to be that one (or twenty) guy(s) that are just there to ruin it for you. And we don't have those resources available to us at this time. Look at some of the other games out there that have attempted to create RP servers. It's a massive headache for everyone involved, both on the players and the developers side.

The best solution right now is for you to find a place to call your own, and switch instances if you're finding it too difficult to do your thing there. I wish I had a better answer for you, but this is the sad truth of things are going to be for now.

I think Daeke said it best.

I know what Daeke said, but I feel like the blue-man in the crowd. Its really hard for us to find other blue-men and there is already that one or 20 or so harassing some of us, individually. It does not have to be heavily moderated at all for anyone that speaks out of character to ruin immersion or has a tandem to cause mayhem, in any game situation if they are breaking the rules of conduct on a RP server its probably going to be against the rules on normal servers.

This sounds interesting, really thinking of getting into Champions RP, love RP in general but not focused on it as of yet in CO.

Honestly at the moment the best thing you can do is to join a roleplay community like CORP (www.ChampionsOnlineRoleplayers.com). Every member has found it easy to just stick with roleplayers, it's been quite the trip so far through Closed Beta, Open Beta, and now early release.

If you wan justice for roleplayers, I really really suggest participating in our community. We have over 400 roleplayers, and tons of active discussion on the state of the game RP wise. It's probably the best solution at the moment, if you haven't already joined.

While it is a solution, for the moment, it is not the greatest, I do not want to join another websites on a string of website I have to visit on a daily basis just to find what I want. I'm not even entirely happy with the site, just not the flavor for me. Its best that a better solution be investigated, its time to put down the stupid argument of "so and so dislikes this" and "we don't want to allocate additional resources to a good base of our players."

Lemon Lass created a RP channel in the chat options for some fun.. that's always an option for filtering other things if you wish to explore that option?

Let the dust settle after the first week a good many of the City of Villains Jack haters and the Hellgate Roper haters will be gone .

But yes the [Shard] population limits are harder to work around to even get all of a SG on the same Instance.
That's what happens with any new launch sorting the details of an open world v what a closer knit Beta Community had.
