Please please please, with some sugar on top, can you do something about the jet boots sound? It's very loud and gets annoying very fast when you've always got them on. It would be better if the sound faded out and became quiet after like 5-10 seconds or something. The extra boost sounds when the higher speeds are activated are nice, but after that the sound should really fade out as I explained above. I'll soon start having headaches when I play my character with jet boots. :(

It does sound nice to begin with but then it becomes just a whiny continuous noise which gets really annoying, i've ended up just putting on music which i dont want to do as i miss out on all the over sounds and music.

I honestly don't see why you guys find them so loud, I think they sound fine.
Semi-realistic if anything. Of course I love being around Jets and NHRA vehicles when they are in the pits(and where I have to cover my ears), so perhaps my word isn't much on the subject. ;)
But honestly, I played Shooter games that have louder sounds then those jet boots do and if it really bothers you, you can always turn down the sfx sound bar, mute your computer for a bit, or turn down your speaks. You probably have to game to loud anyhow.
As for killing duels in the Powerhouse, I am against this, since it does help people test their new powers(as already pointed out), secondly, if anyone has explored the power house, there are several rooms and halls people can duel in.
So if it bothers you, you can also always ask nicely for them to take it to another location in the PH.
However, this is just my two cents worth... *shrugs*

Agreed... I got no problem with people dueling in the PH, but they should make the main area where everyone is working on their builds a no dueling zone. Then maybe add a few special rooms specifically for dueling, they could even have environmental hazards and cool stuff like that.
As for jet boots, I agree... too loud. One option that would make thing less unbearable in the PH would be to simply make their idle sound quieter to combat all the dozens power armor people who simple MUST levitate while they pick their advantages and such.
On an mostly unrelated note... you gotta love those people who give their character wings but then take jet boots as their TP. : \

Yes, people are stuck on stupid, it's like the ability to being annoying and moronic semi anonymously is a great thrill to them.
But I digress. The "volume" of the jet boots is not bad in general, i.e. flying around open zones, but when you are in the powerhouse and have 4,5, or 6 people all hovering at the trainers, it gets a little, overwhelming to say the least.

I have no issues with Jet Boots. My character has them and I think the sound is okay. You can always just turn the volume settings to fit your ear.
Though, the constant jet sound, dueling "pew pew" next to you when you are in power house is damn annoying with the indoors echo etc. But when I fly myself, the Jet volume is okay.
Like is suggested in some other topic, please make the trainer room no fly - no duel zone, and move that to the big room with huge metal crates and various platforms.

As you can see most of the complaints are IN THE POWERHOUSE. I have jet boots, outside free roaming, not a bid deal, but for the love of pete in the powerhouse jebus crepes. Even I appreciate the handful of people, myself included, that do turn off the boots. Still, the hundreds of other inconsiderate people that don't, and the ones that duel in there are a pain on the inner ear, be it headphones or stereo (which I think is worse).
I mean really, it's about a 3 second run from the entrance to the trainer, why do you need to fly, as a matter of convienance? Really? Just make it a no fly / zone until you are past the actual trainer room, purdy please.... :(

Jet Boots are fine, they are JET BOOTS. they should be loud. i can't think of too many soft whispering jets out there ;)
but the main room in the Power House i believe is the issue, the indoor echo, the multiple people. once you get in the main PH room i feel it would be fine to have it be a no travel power/dueling area. if you want to try a power out you have to rooms to either side with dummies and a big room in the back for dueling and travel power testing.
just my imo :D

I see some disagree. Well make it an option then perhaps? Something has to be done though. And not just in the power house. While that's where you notice it the most it's everywhere else too.
And no, I will not pick regular flight just because of this issue. Jet boots are part of the character, normal flight doesn't fit my power armored hero.

I agree with most of the people here:
PH = LOUUUUDDDDDDDD NOOIIISSEEESS!!!!111
Outside of PH = It's all good.
I think a travel powers ban in the main room would be an acceptable solution, since rocket boots isn't the only power that adds to the noise. Teleport, when spammed also can get a bit irritating in the PH. Don't get me wrong though, I love Teleport and think it's just fine. I'm just trying to point out Rocket Boots aren't the only ones to add to noise pollution within the echo-y confines of the PH.
As for duels, my suggestion would be to put another trainer in one of the other rooms, or perhaps a special duel room. This will encourage people to hang out there to duel, test powers, respec, duel... etc etc.
As it stands people don't want to walk to the other rooms, duel, walk back to respec and go to the other room again to duel. It takes too long and people like convenience.
I wouldn't be against a dueling ban in the main room of the PH as long as there's a trainer in one of the other rooms.

I must concur with all of the other posts. Jet boots are just too loud. I would very much like to see noise stop after 5 - 10 seconds. I use XFire to talk to my friends while playing and if I have Jet Boots on I can't hear them talking regardless of m volume setting.
This probably isn't the right place for this comment but I would also like to see the charge mechanic like Super Flight has incorporated into Jet Boots. Why shouldn't i be able to go super sonic right away??
Thanks

Like others, I'm finding myself muting whenever I go into the power house because, inevitably, someone with rocket boots will end up loitering directly over my head. However, I've no problem with them out in the world. It's actually nice to hear them when someone flies by overhead.
But I'm biased. My dad was a pilot, and whenever I hear a jet in RL I try to find it in the sky, a habit that has transferred into CO quite nicely.

Yes, please. People will idle or AFK in the Powerhouse with their jet boots on, right next to the trainers. Half a dozen at a time. The endless whirring is maddening, and I actually like to listen to my games. That said, I don't think they should be really quiet...I mean, they're jet boots. Perhaps just dulling the sound to a quiet roar for nearby players while the actual owner can still hear them normally. Something. Anything.
As for dueling, restricting it to the large open room right behind the trainers is probably for the best. It is extremely useful for testing your powers in a combat scenario. The other test rooms can be useful, but none of them really simulate a combat situation.

Personally, I'm taking a hypothetical look at how to get into the game files, to edit the sound, seeing as it's probably a low-priority QOL fix on Cryptic's agenda. Bugs that affect actual gameplay need to come first.
So with that said, in the hypothetical situation that I wanted to get into sound.hogg and have a look at the sound effect for Jet Boots, how might I go about that, and what software tools might I need?

Perhaps, perhaps not. In most MMO's, there is a way around the patcher.
Edit to add: If I'm not mistaken, the patcher would only catch the alteration if a verification of the game image were run. The majority of times that we run the game, the patcher is merely checking version numbers to be certain we have the latest patch.

Thinking to myself, OMG, they FINALLY fixed one of the most annoying things in the entire game!, I danced with happiness.
Then I noticed today that the volume never changed.
Did I imagine the fix? Well, no - I know the sound shut off, it was so huge of a difference between blasting in my ears annoyance and peaceful environmental sounds.

The option to turn the main room into a No Power Zone sounds great to me. Perhaps people will actually discover the absolutely enormous room with the different sizes of metal boxes that is perfect for dueling and whatever.
My best guess as to why people leave them on is due to the "Charge up" time for them to get going full speed, as I have this travel power on one of my alts. Perhaps an option to charge up to max like plain old flight would cut down on the people idling?

Now we all have silent shoes that make glowing lights.
Argh!!!

Man, you guys will ***** and moan about anything, wontcha? I am a huge fan or Jet Boots and don't see them as too loud. I think they're one of the coolest travel powers in the game both in respect to looks and sound.

Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust this? I'd assume there is some console command of sorts.
You all wanted them quieter, while some of us don't mind JET boots sounding as they should...like jets.

Wow, it's way worst than I thought when I read the patch note. Now flying isn't as much enjoyable as before...
I really miss the old sounds.
Hopefully this will be tuned again in next patch.

I am ok with the new sound, but a volume control for travel powers would probably come close to pleasing everyone :)

But you havent tried flight now, have you? Try it.
One thing that bugs me is that if Im somewhere middle of Canadian tundra and it looks like Im alone, doing mission or another.. Suddenly I hear *PSHHHT*. Then I look around, up in the sky, nothing.. *PSHHHT* Sometimes I get a glimpse of somebody like 200 meters away.. Can someone tell me what travel power does this? Its as if distance doesnt lower its sound at all..

Well good for you that you can stand having a jet plane engine blasting into your ear for several hours. Personally I'm just getting headaches... :(
It's a real shame. It was so nice before this patch.

Before this patch it was completely silent beyond powering up (either that or I was experiencing an audio glitch). I can't see how anyone would think that was better.
Have you considered that if it's giving you headaches that your volume is too high? The Jet Boots don't seem particularly louder than many of the other in-game sounds.

Yes it was MUCH better.
No I don't have too high volume. It was perfectly fine before the patch. It's the constant blasting of those boots that are too loud. :/

It's not unreasonable for jet boots users to want to hear their power but not have it drilled into their brain. For something we have to hear all the time, it better sound nice.
Playing my jet boots character (I use jet boots flight in combat, so I have it on pretty much all the time) has been noticeably annoying this evening, as the constant jet whine plays continuously. Dropping the SFX to a level where it is tolerable causes the rest of the game's sounds to be very quiet. This is true whether I am using my speakers or headphones.
I don't know if it's necessary for the sound to cut out completely as it did before the patch, but the volume definitely needs to be lowered. I love my jet boots.. don't make me take normal flight instead :(

If you notice the first post in this thread I started it way before the sound was removed. When it was done I was thankful but never even visited this part of the forum. Why would I? It was perfect. Now when it's back I'm back here begging for the devs to think about us who can't stand, or even get headaches because of the constant blasting of those jet boots. So please take your condescending posts somewhere else.

TURN THE VOLUME DOWN on them devs, or just turn the bloody things OFF whenever you're hovering around.

A travel power volume setting would be awesome. The jet boots were so loud last night I took off my headphones completely for a while. It'd be nice to be able to hear meaningfull sounds without the constant drone of the boots.

I... I honetsly don't get it, guys. Didn't get it the first time, didn't get it now.
The only complaint I understood was the one about the jet boots cutting out completely in spaces with no ambient noise. I thought my audio had died or something.
Try turning the master volume down? The one on your computer?

As stated before, we actually do want to be able to hear the rest of the game without having those jet boots booming in our ears all of the time. Personally I'm fine with the audio in most of the rest of the game, but the jet boots gives me a headache if I play for more than just a short time.
Anyway. I haven't played much the last week or so, but it seems like it's fixed now? When logging in right now the boots seem to be back to the way they were before the blood moon patch. I really hope it stays like that, or possibly that they introduce a travel power audio slider.

You do realize that there is more than one person playing this game right...which means theres a group of people who like it louder and, get this, a totally different group of people who like it softer. Amazing isnt it. I know its tempting to make life simpler by lumping everyone into a single group but thats not reality.

Well good for you. For me, if I turn down my volume to where the jet boots would be tolerable (in it's original booming sound) I would hardly hear the rest of the game.

This is, indeed, an interesting dichotimy.
To be fair, I'm not saying "Don't touch it lolol." What I'm saying is "I am not experiancing the same problem, so this cannot be a universal issue with the application." I'd love to see this problem fixed for you guys, but I also don't want the no-sound boots back.
I'm not computer-saavy enough to investigate what the issue is, or why I'm apparantly hearing the game when you are not.

It's a conspiracy. Cryptic is tying to slowly cull out all the Iron Man fans. I expect the next phase of their plan to be adding a special harmonic frequency that causes your brain to implode after thirty minutes of listening to the jet boots.

Agreed, powerhouse should be a no fly zone, and a no duel zone. Trying to go over powers while listening to jet boots (I turn mine off when inside) and people duel right next to you is very annoying and sensory overload.
Well Im not sure about the no fly zone, cause people want to try out their powers first. I agree with the no duels, it should be settled in an arena or something inside the powerhouse. And maybe you could have the option to mute travel power sound. I dunno, hope this thread reaches admin ears... or eyes.

I don't think it's a dichotomy. I think people's tolerance levels for the jet boots noise are very different from person to person.
I love the jet boots noise. I'd love to have it back, and at its original volume too. But, I am just one voice amongst many *cry, sniff*
