Will there be a way to purchase and download the client online?
Actually I already have the client from Open Beta. I am just needing to purchase the retail key.
Will there be a way to do that?
It is a LONG drive to the city and I would sure like to not have to make the trip.

Very probably. It's already possible to download the client, and there's mention of "digital download" versions in a few places on the website.
The only question is when.

yes, you can now on this website. Go to the main page, click on My Account then download it

Just purchase a Digital Download, at Direct2Drive (http://www.direct2drive.com/8333/product/Buy-Champions-Online-Download) for example. They will then send you the retail key on Sept 1st (Well, technically the 'Send me the key' option on your Account page at D2D will be unlocked on Sept 1st, which when clicked e-mails you the key).
Do note that you will need a subscription in order to play. If you want a Lifetime or 6 Month sub, you have till tomorrow ;)
