The Gadroon are just rough, best to do the missions with a group of people since they hit hard.

They are VERY tough. I've managed to solo this one with several characters, but it's usually an uphill battle that involves nearly dying on each one. Gadroon in general are a bit of a pain, with all their CC-filled attacks. The boss to the last mission in that chain is the worst, since if you don't block his Hold he follows up with an attack that deals about 75% damage to you, which you can't block since you're being held.

It's funny because they were fairly fun and easy enemies through most of beta, only getting super tough around the begining of the summer or so.

Yea.. these guys hit VERY hard compared to everything else at their level. Now you know why I'm avoiding Canada in the lvl 20s. :D

Also, being a dodge stacker I noticed that you can't dodge any of their attacks so I basically have zero defense against them.

Yeah I managed to solo this mission as well, and it took me dying several times before I finally completed it. And, I feel like I need to bring this up, but the whole Gadroon story Arc is a trubite to an old John Carpenter (Writer and Director of the original Halloween movie) called "They Live" which is about Aliens that have been living among Humans disgused as humans and the only way to see them for what they are is by wearing a pair of special sunglasses. And when the main character first discovers this..he walks into a bank wearing the sunglasses with a shot gun and announces: "I am here to Kick ass and chew bubble gum....and I'm all out of Bubble gum."

epic movie.
love love love it.
but they look like frogs so this kinda mutes the "creepy alien-zombies who control the government" feeling.

gadroon are hella tough, and that boss fight is terrible. I think I died 5 times in it once. It doesn't help that unlike CoX, when you die fighting a boss they get all their health back instantly, while you take a debuff and wash-rinse-repeat. I got lucky trying to force him in and out of range and dove behind a box (very luckily since many of those attacks animate fast) to force him to change up his unstoppable pattern of doom. If block actually mitigated more of his mezes it might be easier.

grrr.

The hardest part of that mission for me was the opening trio, but I died and respawned immediately and they were bugged to not attack back. The rest of the zone was cake after that, but I felt like I was cheating.

Bring a friend, especially if you are a dps type of character.

As a might/gadget tank type I was able to slowly grind my way solo through the quests. About halfway through the quest line however, I hooked up with a shotgun toting, mini-mine wielding, DPS type. As long as he remembered to let me get into the mix first everything was pretty simple.

I've seen people saying that there are no classes, and you can have a character that can hea,, dps, and take blows... Well that is sort of true, but when you are running around at 1800 hp, and the Might guy with you has over 4,000... it's obvious who you want the bad guys beating on.

Ha!

Wait till you have to escort the scientist down the mountainside in Fallen Sun Forest. That idiot will aggro up to 5 groups of Gadroon at the same time.

And their master-villain level bosses make Poe look like a cakewalk when it comes to chain-holds.

At least they changed the middle part. It used to be a bit of a pain, where you had to wait for the Courier to spawn, and then follow him back to his base without getting too close to him (if you got close to agro range he'd stop and stare at you, and if you got close enough to actually agro him him he'd just teleport away), and to make it even harder they first sent out two "decoy couriers" that would wanter around for about thee minutes and then despawn! It was all very annoying, and I assume very easy for griefers to screw up for everybody, so they greatly simplified it.

They are hard yes, and you must use tactics and choose primary and secondary everytime you fight a gadroon group. When I learn that, I complete all gadroon missions (lvl 20-25). I liked that missions because I had to use some strategy and it was great! :)

Arg! I just did this one, that was one of the hardest missions I've done so far it was a complete nightmare escorting that guy

OMG I hate the gadroon! That quest chain in canada and one quest in the city...dear god, I was so frustrated.

Please Cryptic, nerf gadroon and after that, nerf them again. Seriously, they are just ridiculous.

Equip an energy resist item. I can't stress this enough. The plink gun spam for massive damage is what destroys you against the Gadroon. That and the Initiate holds.

Yeah, the Gadroon are rough. And those arrogant frog faces...ugh. They will make you a better player, though. You can't sleepwalk through those missions like you can with Viper and some others.

The only good thing about the Gadroon is that many players avoid those missions; less worry about competing with other players for the same objectives. :)

They are rough to be sure. But You can bring along consumables that make is a bit easier.

I died many times, but it was pretty much THIS area that made me quite a bit better at the game. If you stick with it and try and learn from your errors, you'll come out better for the effort.

That all said, I assume it really annoys some people... lol

Peace mates

It doesn't help that the Canada Gadroon area, by some quirk, tends to hold you in combat so you can't heal without exiting the terraformed area or flying high above it. Also, that the Gadroon will hover if knocked up, but there're no tossable objects to knock them down with.

I agree they are considerably tough, but IMHO I dont believe they need a nerf. I managed to solo both Mill and Canada missions (so far) by keeping my pinky on the shift key. Although those dimensional vortexes or whatever they open up that push you around is a pain in the butt if your a melee, which I am, but as long as you hug that block key you can stave off most of their damage.

Also, in terms of prioritizing most of the responses to this thread on the issue are dead on. Go for the ones that will use hold any chance they get, and if you do spot a hold you can generally hold block until the hold expires (if your patient enough). And yes, consumables or anything that will help you keep your health manageable is a good thing, although if done right you can solo 2-3 of them cautiously but safely without dying.

Good hunting. :)

I.... Hate... Gadroon.

There's challenging, and then there's the Gadroon. I like a challenge, don't get me wrong, but I don't think I've cursed as much in my life as I have had last night. I finally made it through after hours of blood, sweat and tears.

(I am a big fan of block as well btw)

Now whenever I play battletoads on my NES I break down and cry.

I play a hybrid class without much focus, so I'm used to using terrain, holds, debuffs tactics, heals, etc. to win a hard fight, which was how I dealt with the Gadroon while in Millenium (Hold and burn down, Ebon Sigil of Weakness, duck around corner to heal while they're slowed, pop back out to finish them off).

However, in the forest, the amount of terrain, tactics, and maneuvering that can be brought to bear are a lot smaller. I can try the Ebon Sigil, but they tend to teleport and the damage reduction isn't enough to matter. I can hold them all while in support mode, burn down a henchman, but the villains... they don't die fast enough to DPS kill them, they bust holds, their attacks are high damage AND they occasionally pull off holds or that annoying void.

My over all recommendation would be to lower their hit points- with all the support type stuff they do, being a little weaker would compensate for all their advantages while fighting them.

QFT!

I got chewed up badly during the Gadroon parts of Canada... Though I did manage to -Solo- Scuttle the Ship. (Tip Fly!)

Brutal!

Those damn aliens , ya i agree with that they are by far the toughest and most challenging mobs in the game that i have come across. But i Just finished the stuff in canada on them . What amused me was that i started to fight the drones in the sky and some aliens on the ground actualy flew up to me and started to atttack me in mid air . I knew i was in trouble then .
the escort mission for little ole tim doctor guy is hell on wheels i was like wtf where is that drone going and wait oh noes.
