Will you be able to change your characters name using cryptic bucks? If so when? And how much?

They haven't released any reliable information on what will be available in the Cryptic Store, either at launch or in the future.
However, I believe we can reasonably speculate that account service options, like name changes and additional character slots, will probably be available either at launch or shortly afterward.
How much is anyone's guess. Mine is about $10-$15 for a name change and a few bucks for extra character slots, possibly discounted if purchased in groups. It's base speculation, but I base it on the average going rates I've seen elsewhere.

Strange, you wouldn't think changing your character name should really cost anything... It's not like it's your account name, after all. That remains the name, no matter what you decide to change your character name to - and given that there's no no chance of overlapping with another character's name...
Can't you change your name at the tailor?
I can see extra character slots being in the store, right enough - especially since lifers already get extra,

Being able to change an individual character name is considered a non-essential account service by most. Implementation varies from game to game, or company to company. Most of these companies have come to realize that they can get away with charging money for such a basic service, and choose to do so. Show me another major MMO title currently available at retail that allows you to permanently change your character's name without imposing some kind of fee and I'll consider revising my statement.
Until then, please consider all of the following:
World of ******** charges $10.00 for a character name change.
City of Heroes/Villains charges $9.99 for a character name change.
Guild Wars charges $14.99 to rename a single character.
Sony Online Entertainment products do not currently offer paid name changes.
Final Fantasy XI does not currently offer paid name changes.
Warhammer Online allows you to 'recustomize your character,' including a name change for $15.00.
EVE Online does not appear to have a character name change service, but I welcome a correction.

I'm not saying you're wrong, because I'm in no position to check right now. (One of my characters is offlined in a Powerhouse incase I change my mind about his specs, and the other is in a battleground nowhere near a tailor).
But I do recall the name page still being in the tailor. I don tknow whether or not it's possible to edit or re-enter your name though, because It didn't occur to me to try it at the time.
You're right that it's entirely possible that Cryptic may charge us for the service. But it does seem as though they've been thinking ahead of themselves here, what with the way the game is heavilly instanced, and tells you a players account name as well as their character name by default.
I won't be terribly surprised if Cryptic charge... but I will be slightly disapointed.

Just pointing out that the name change in the tailor isn't your character name, but to differentiate costume changes for your costume slots.

Actually, SOE has had name changes for a while now. In EQ it was $50 iirc...SWG added a free name change service, I think...and EQ2 has a potion you can buy to change your name using Station Cash (but I have no idea how much it costs).

Personally, I would love it if your character name was based on your costume. It seems very comic book-esque. I mean, superheroes change alter egos all the time. Robin became NightWing. Speedy became Red Arrow. I think it would add to the atmosphere of the game.
