LOL, in reality, to my knowledge it's because Atari is in charge of Australian distribution and they are absolutely horrible at it.

I'm in AUS too and I simply bought the download option from Gamestop. Ends up being cheaper than the inflated prices over here as well.

Even if I was wanting the full box set, I'd order it from over seas as it will get here roughly the same time that the game actually releases over here, and even faster if you pay extra for faster shipping, and I'd rather do that just to spite the lousy system they have implemented here and to make sure they don't get my money.

It's my pleasure to walk into the game shops, ask when a game's being released, and then say oh, well that sucks I guess I'll just buy it from over seas. They don't seem to like that much. Might (though I doubt it) motivate them to actually do something about it.

As far as I'm aware Cryptic has no say in the matter.

It probably has to do with a problem in distribution; maybe they know they're going to be pushing shipments or that they don't currently have enough for release and they're holding out for a bit more before they make the push.

Really, the reason why is anyone's guess... but you can either wait for the release to show up in stores on the 10th, or look for the game elsewhere. In any case, if you're really concerned about it - the digital download version should be available on September 1st, regardless of region.

Step 1: Find US buddy
Step 2: Have them buy game in US (or digital download)
Step 3: They email you the key.
Step 4: Play

Dont even need to bother, you can preorder digitally from gamestop.

Got me into the headstart too :)

Well I was in the open beta, so my patch was like 60mb or less. I don't know what the patching process will be for someone just coming in.

Got the reason right here for ya, folks:

The guy at Electronics Boutique told me that it was because when MMOs used to release here on the same day as the US, they'd have people over here waiting around for a day or so before the servers opened, so now they push the dates back a few days.

That's it. Sounds like BS to me, though. 10 days? Why not 1 if that was the case...

I am just going to wait for the game to be physically in my hands via EB. I had a total failure with the last digital purchase I made (WAR), it has never worked.

Just in case this question hasn't been answered yet, unfortunately (I'm quite sure that) you were too late in ordering to get into the headstart. I think it was a few days ago that they stopped sending them out.

That means you'll be sent a code on September 1st (or 2nd for us Aussies) allowing you to put it to your Forums account Digitally Download it and play.

I dont think that there is actually any Australian server or EU just US server so is problem preorder for example from gamestop that got digital download and you get serial key on email?

Doesn't really bother me to be honest. Just because I can't log on at the same no doubt lag-riddled, crash-infested, bug-strewn same time as everyone else doesn't mean I'm going to enjoy the game any less.

I mean seriously, is this some kind of competition? Are we trying to race people to level 40?

Dunno about the rest of you lot but I'm more than happy to wait until the 10th. Not like I'll be missing out on anything.
