I somehow got in after the game repeatedly crashing and then after the next crash after 10 min. of play now when I try to login it says "version mismatch." I have not re-installed or installed anything new and it's the updater / validator's job to check version with server and update client as needed. I have no control over that. So now I have no idea what to do. I've spent my valuable time all day troubleshooting a supposedly live game. Even though this is an early start ahead of non-preorders, this my friends, is supposed to be the live game...:(

I got this as well then it turned into a decompression failure CTD.

It wouldn't surprise me if they're related. I've never, never encountered an online game in 7 years of online gaming that said the version was incorrect and then did NOTHING. A day that should have been fun with a product I've paid for has turned into a buggy nightmare and as so many have posted in this, apparently, unmonitored forum, the game was much more stable in Beta. It looks like a great game but I'm starting to think it's more that it could be a great game, right now it's crap that doesn't work.

I turned Force Verify on and off and it went through the verify again. How in the heck and your update program NOT detect a version mismatch? Then it goes to login and boom, "version mismatch" where it spits me back out to a login.
Can some please tell me where I can get the correct version from Cryptic for manual download? I'm trying to download the OB client from FilePlanet again but that's crawling. What the heck changed between OB and now?

I deleted the files in the Piggs forlder and it re downloaded them after verifying and i could get back into the game. However there are still the other issues, like the getting held animation not going away so when fighting a mob that holds you, you're literally held the entire fight then you have to log off and log back in to get unheld. Then on the 3rd try of fighting the same mob the game crashes lol. Can't seem to win.

Thanks Citizen-Prime, I'll try deleting them next time. I got in early today and today after my 4th restart of Windows. I have no idea what changed as I had restarted before several times throughout the day yesterday. It crashed again after an hour of play with an expanding texture.hogg error again and a time before that with no clear error. They've still got alot of work to do on this.
So long story short, reboot several times and it may work...and/or delete your .hogg files so the basic patcher will realize they need to be replaced.

Hi, I have the same problem, I cannot play because I get a message saying "version mismatch". I have tried to apply force verify on the Options tab when I login, but I keep on getting the problem.
Any solution please?

If you got this error since today's patch and have Windows Vista, run the updater with administrator privileges.

Also got version mismatch. Have gotten that each and everytime they have added a patch since beta. Tried the remove pigg files stuff without any luck.
I might be stupid or something, but is that Force Verify stuff meant to be found in the options on the log in screen? I cant find any there.
Getting a little tired of downloading the client all the time when i got a version mismatch (still waiting for my copy from play.com)
Hm, well i found the options thingy and tried both safe mode and force verify, both with no luck. So it seems i will need to download..... again

If you’re getting the "version mismatch" error and running windows Vista or windows 7 make sure to have champions run with administrative privileges. To run as administrator:
1. right click on the icon
2. go to properties
3. click on the compatibility tab 4.
at the bottom click the box next to run as administrator
Once this is done try running the launcher again, and if you continue to have this issue please feel free to contact our Technical Support or post here on the forums.

I have been trying for 3 hours to login to this game. I get version mismatch every single time. I've tried reinstalling, rebooting, running with administrator privileges, you name it, I've tried it. Don't know what else to do at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i had the same problem, but thanks to "Kimyrielle's" tip, i can play agian! Thanks you.
so i can confirm that running the updater (gameclient) with administrator privileges, works on vista. at least in some cases. :)

You just bumped a really old thread dating all the way back to beta.
Anyway, I hope you're going through the launcher, and not trying to run the game client directly? Does the game not patch properly in the launcher? You could try checking the force verify box in the launcher options.
