Direct2Drive isn't in the Early Start Program. Sorry.

There are tons of people who used the link earlier saying "Pre Order now, get early access" on CO's frontpage. Most of us didn't know that in this case not all pre orders get into early access, you'd have to use a certain retailer. So, it's a bit frustrating I know.

Trying to have conversation about the topic only ends up locking the thread so I really don't know what's the deal here.

And of course people are giving you stupid replies, since they are in game having fun, not in the line with paying customers who didn't get served. It's the Internet. :)

Not really, Direct2Drive just wasn't ever part of the Head Start Program. It's not really a stupid reply.

I'm sorry to be the one to break the news to you, but the Direct-2-Drive thing does *not* come with early access.

http://www.champions-online.com/retail

Each offer specifically says what bonuses you get with ordering it. Direct-2-Drive does not say anything at all about the Early Start. Sorry.

Next time maybe you will inform yourselves properly before buying any kind of product. Maybe.

Maybe not.

D2D used to say that though. It didn't say it on CO's website, but it DID say it on D2Ds website (but they changed it a couple of days ago). I however (who ordered at D2D) am playing right now just fine...

Well, here's some more info for you in case you are wondering why you didn't get into early access.

EARLY START PROGRAM

Exclusive Early Event!
August 23, 2009

We hope you’re enjoying the Open Beta. If you can’t get enough of Champions, you might want to know that you don’t need to wait until September 1st to play!

If you pre-order from Gamestop or Best Buy (for US customers) OR ANY UNITED KINGDOM, FRENCH, OR GERMAN RETAILERS, YOU'LL RECIVE ENTRY TO OUR EARLY START PROGRAM. Early Start begins on August 28th, and runs through the release of Champions Online on September 1st, allowing you to play the game four days before anyone else.

But that’s not all! Early Start customers will be rewarded with an extra special treat: A world event, available in-game only before September 1st. The “Qularr Invasion” event will allow players to earn exclusive loot that will never be available in the game after launch. So pre-order now, get in early, and be a Champion!

In case you pre-ordered from UK Direct2Drive, you just got shafted since obviously it not part of the "Any united Kingdom retailers" according to someone.

Also, if you made you pre-order too early, before 23rd, the info for the pre-order deal wasn't there yet so you kinda had to take a leap of faith. Just pick a retailer and hope you get in.

If you possess a D2D beta key, played the open beta with it and you really don't want to wait until the 1st of September before playing the game do the following:

Buy a 6-month subscription from the CO site.

Your account will then be set to “pending release” and you can log in immediately.
Rest assured it works.

I dont think Digital Download counts as Retail though, so the blob of text you pasted isn't wrong, it just uses a definition of "Retailer" which you disagree with. Also I pre-ordered from Direct2Drive just a day after it came up on their website, and it said nothing about head start, only open beta access.

But yes, as already stated earlier in this thread, just get a 6month or lifetime sub and you get headstart access anyways, even if you ordered from D2D. Thats what I did and I am playing just fine now.

I keep hearing this, and as many many many people have told you people the CO website changed earlier in the month. At one point the CO website said "get early access, click this link" and it took you to D2D...therefor the people who ordered very early on thought they were getting into the headstart.

It is not their fault CO decided to change their website later.
