I like the occasional invasions of Qularr during the headstart event - theyre something fun to do.
So why not expand them? Have Qularr, or Destroids, or Grondlings, etc, randomly invade a certain area, much like the Qularr are doing for this event?
- Its something to do other than blindly missioning.
- It feels more heroic to kill invaders than to just go where your mission tells you.
- Its a reason to create more perks, even if they aren't linked to action figures like the headstart ones are.

I'm actually not enjoying this event. There were a few features in CoX that I enjoyed, pointless invasion world events weren't one of them.
Having invasions from different mobs for no reason whatsoever feels tacked on. If there are going to be random attacks from Grondlings, Destoids and other creatures, I hope they make them less frequent and add some story element justifying it.
I almost wouldn't mind seeing it become like a holiday event. Once a year have a storyline with a series of quests over a two week period and in the final few days have crazy invasions like the Mega-Destoid or the Rikti...excuse me, the Qularr invasion.
I don't mind invasions, it's the frequency and pointlessness of it that bothers me.

I want a giant fire-breathing Lizard to attack the city. and a little talking chuahua who give the mission.
Yo quero Godzilla?

I wouldn't mind more and different invasions. There doesn't need to be a huge storyline. All the story really is, is that there is a band of qularr, grondlinds, etc and they're just trying to cause some type of destruction. Easy as that.

Do people like that feature in CoX? I'm refering to the Rikti Invasions and the Zombie attacks in the open world.
I've always thought the idea of world events in MMO's are a great idea on paper, but I have yet to see one that isn't forgettable. In CoX I usually only participated in those events if I was close by. I never went out of my way to get involved. What I suggested by having missions and a storyline leading to an invasion type event allows for a sense of anticipation, investment and ultimately closure and finality.
Frequency of events is also paramount. When I first saw the Mega-Destoid in the open mission in the park, I was really impressed. I took part, had fun and enjoyed it. After seeing it for the third time in a day, I just passed on by without thinking about participating. It got old fast. Hypothetical situation: If that event took place one day a month, I guarantee people would go out of their way to do it. It would become an event worth looking forward to.
Pointless world events come off as...pointless and get boring really fast. How is having a Qualarr invasion really any different from going to the Desert or Canada and killing mobs for no reason whatsoever?

How about Dr Destroyer sending his minions to cause havoc and during the last portion of the event, only happening once, everyone teams up and defeats Dr Destroyer. not killing him of course but battleing him to the point that "all these bugs" are a nucence and he vows to destroy all of us and goes off to his hideout to devise a way to destroy all the supers in the game?
make it happen over about a week and on saturday or something have the Destroyer attack and when he is gone he is gone. those who missed it, missed out on a fun thing and have no one to blame but themselfs.
You could do this with many of the more powerful supervillans and have special rewards for those who help defeat the main boss. That way you can add a story to the attack, i mean Dr. Destroyer just wants to make the world his, those of us who play the PnP understand that, but you could create your own supervillan and come up with a story about how he blames the city for his unfortunate accedent when someone bumped him and he fell into a vat of toxic waist or something.
