...And when do I start seeing it?

My lug of a might character is parked at level 12 (third character I've brought this far- I love his concept and am sticking with it, even if I've probably already broken his build), and I'd kind've like to do some things with, you know, other people.

I've come across a few instanced missions in Canada and the Desert with super-villain "bosses," but they were soloable without too much effort, and the one I grouped for took about five minutes.

How many five-man lairs are there currently, and what are their level ranges? For that matter, what about world bosses, I know there are a few, right? I mean, I see Grond stomping around. And are the rewards particularly desireable? Thus far public quests only seem to net me healing consumables and common-quality items, so there isn't a lot of motivation to do those...

Open Quests

The higher you score on the listing, the better reward you'll get. So score first, and get a regular item can be primary defense/utility/offense etc.

Depending on the level of the OM, is the quality of the item. Don't expect a blue to pop up for a low level OM, even if you score first.

Lairs
Dr. Destroyer's Factory in MC (level 29)
Burial Grounds in Canada (level 31)
Tel Tower in Canada (level 30) iirc
Dr. Moreau's lab in Monster Island (level 35) iirc

And that was about all I've bumped into during both OB and CB, then again, I didn't fully explore MI and never went to Lemuria.

I also know that there's Unity and Omega stuff, but never encountered that either.

Project Awakening and Stronghold Prison are both lairs as well, but they're solo'able and more there to give the player an idea of what they'll be facing in the future, and why you'd need a whole team for it.

World bosses
Well, there's Grond.
And I know that MI has both the flaming ape and that Giant Teleioaur as well. There's also Mega-Zarek (sp?), a mechanical version, but he belongs to a quest as well. And of course, there's the Mega-destroid at the the third phase of the Open Mission at the Destroyer Museum in SE MC.

I was planning to solo and I've been getting invites for several missions, PQ's, the Quular Invasion Event, etc.

So far I haven't seen anything like an instance while leveling (only level 12) but I've been teaming like crazy...I agree w/ more instances but it seems like I group more than I even want to lol.

I must say, I'm fairly disappointed so far with team play. As a CoX vet, I've come to think of teaming as a central part of MMORPGs, and CO seems to be a step backward in this regard. Today, I logged in to find 2 of my best CoX buds (and good friends themselves), both soloing, because it's just easier and they level up faster. When I did team up with one of them later, I could only share certain missions with him, I guess because he needed to complete a different one before he was eligible, and I couldn't help him with that one because I'd already completed it. This seems to be an unnecessary obstacle to team play. In CoX, you can always share a mission, whether you've done it before or aren't yet eligible to get it--you just don't get whatever bonuses you already got or aren't eligible for.

In general, I hope team play gets more love in the coming months. The 5-member limit for teams is pretty sad, but I can see why it exists, because spawns don't adjust to team size, so a 5-man team can pretty much steamroll through anything. Secondly, there is the "where is everyone?" factor, which I can't really put my finger on yet, but I guess has to do with all the outdoor content. It does seem somehow harder to follow the action--I miss the waypoints from CoX.

I don't mean to diss the game--I'm really starting to love it in many ways. It looks amazing, the travel powers rock, and I'm starting to get the combat rhythm down. But so far, teaming is an issue. And what is an MMORPG where everyone's soloing? There are a lot of games I can play by myself without a subscription.
