So I keep seeing "respec goes 10 levels back". My character is level 16. At level 8 I picked Focus of the Unleashed Tempest, and it's not on the list anymore. In fact only 8 things are on the list. So how do respecs work, really? Or are they broken in more ways than just costing too much money, right now?

I am wondering the same thing. I have two characters around level 8 and I don't want to level them any further in fear that I will lose the ability to respec my initial powers.

Maybe it's just the last ten things you chose. But then again, I'm only seeing 8. Pretty confusing stuff.

Yea its supposed to be the last 10 things you choose, but on my lvl 17 guy I can only respec the last 5 things i had chosen. This needs to be fixed asap along with the prices.

I remember reading a post somewhere around here (I believe it was a dev post, actually) that said you can respec your last 10 *points*, not the last 10 things you chose. Some of the options cost more than one point, and you start hitting those around level 8 or so. I think that's why it looks like you're getting shorted.
I wish I could find and link the post I read that in, and I hope I'm remembering it right. But if you follow that logic, the math does add up.

ugh that makes more sense, but excuse my choice of words, but is completely ********. It would be last 10 things chosen.

THIS ISNT A BETA SO WHY IS IT LIKE THIS????? i mean wtf we are wasteing are headstart time so wtf was the point in putting faith in cryptic if they cant fix a game breaking bug ?? The respec costs should of been fix with last night patch they knew about it all day and now this cant even respec the last 10 powers like you should . do you think they will fix this stuff before headstart is going to be over??

They should just make it so we can respec all of our powers and talents but nothing else, all attributes are non refundable. This will let us to switch from fire to ice and stuff similar, but not from fire to might or fire to support. And give us a full respec for free after this disaster.
I don't even want to play anymore, I'm level 17 on my main and I have 2 power points to use but I'm not going to use them until they fix this.

I'm pretty certain it's the last 10 things you *could've* chosen. So, for example, if you decided to save a power point, you'd have a slot avaiable to re-spec it, pushing the last thing off the respec table. Since you haven't spent that point yet, it appears that only 9 things are on the list, but the 10th thing is the thing you haven't spent yet.

I disagree. I think it is a bad idea for several reasons to just let people respec whenever.
If they do it once now for this initial problem that is fine. But these games are about character development and building and learning. It helps keep the whole game and powers balanced and viable when people take them. When you just let people abandon any power they feel is 1% less viable then the other powers might as well not exist at all.

Can you elaborate on this? I've seen this point made before in the forums and now I'm going to ask someone about it. I don't see what the problem is. Cryptic shouldn't allow full respecs because....people might use them?? If a person wants to respec in order to improve their build by 1%, what's the problem?

Most people wouldn't be fully respeccing for that reason. They'd be fully respeccing to DRASTICALLY redo their character.
They'd see a popular type that is owning them in PvP, and then just full respec and copy it, skill for skill. Oh, now they are getting owned by something else? Full respec, and copy.
I would like to be able to respec just the powers. What stats I choose for my characteristics/super stats can stay permanent, but if I choose a power and 10 levels down the road it becomes obsolete thanks to the next tier ability, I don't want a wasted power sitting in my inventory.

It would stop full respecs. Say one type is really popular atm, fire. So you roll fire. next week its frost. everyone rolls frost.
What their option does is limit that, adn while, on a balance level it feels smart, in practice it sucks. They either need to be more clear on what the abilities do, or they need to add full respecs to the store that are a blanket good for 3 days in game. So you can try powers out and at the end, your powers are locked.
