I don't know much about ram timings and such. Whats the best ram I can get for my E8400?

Get PC8500 1066Mhz, it will allow you to clock higher. With 800 you can't clock as high but you might be able to reduce the timings. On my Super Talent 800Mhz's I can do 4-4-3-8 timings, on my HPC Reapers it's harder to achieve that but I can overclock higher. If you have no plans to overclock get 800Mhz sticks, if you plan to overclock get 1066Mhz sticks. Otherwise I would just get 800Mhz sticks and try to keep the timings as tight as possible. My prior system had an E6600 overclocked to 3.4Ghz with 800Mhz sticks at 4-3-3-8 timings was insanely fast. I scored about 16,000 points in 3DMark06 with an ATI 3870 which is pretty insane for such a lower end card. My system right doesn't score as high =(

I'm great with computers (just built another one yesterday for a friend) but I'm ******** when it comes to ram and cpu combos. Being such, i have no idea what you just said. I'm not gonna overclock, I just want the best performance. Can you give me a newegg link or something :p

DDR2-1066 may be better, but only if it has tighter timings. If it's got slower timings then it may actually be worse than DDR2-800 with better timing.

I'd recommend you look at the following...

OCZ SLI-Ready DDR2-800 4 gig kit (5-4-4-15 timed) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227269) $48
OCZ Reaper DDR2-1066 4 gig kit (5-5-5-18) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227289) $48 post rebate (so you may as well get this one since there is no price difference.)

Honestly ram speed will have extremely little difference on framerate and games. Tests have shown that the difference between things like DDR2-800 speed and DDR3-1600 speed is only about 2% or 3%, so it's not something you really need to do a lot of stressing out over. Go with what's good and what's cheap. :D
