Stuck at "Connecting to the login server"

I pre-ordered from Gamestop a few days ago, have my key and have attached it to my account. I also picked up a 6 month subscription. But still haven't been able to actually *play* during the head start.

After successfully patching up the game and getting through the launcher, I still keep running into a brick wall with the login server. I've been trying since yesterday, repeatedly, and cannot get into game.

After a timeout, I re-enter my account name and password, and if they are wrong, I immediately get an error message. But if they are right, the game just sits on the "Connecting to the login server" message, then the game times out again.

I've tried circumventing my firewall and antivirus software, but that hasn't helped. It's like the game is trying to connect to the wrong IP for the login server or being blocked somewhere.

Any thoughts as to what precisely is going wrong and how to fix it?

I more or less get the same thing. I was able to play for a few hours last night. I tried again last night and then this morning and all I get is "Connecting to Account server" Nothing happens for awhile, it times out and I get the logon screen again. Any help would be appreciated.

I've not been able to get more than a character created. I've spent hours trying. This is the first I've seen of the game and so far I'm pretty disappointed. Hopefully I'll be able to play enough to determine if I want to buy it or not and what plan I want to purchase. My entire family plays so it's allot of money to spend for a game I can not play at launch. Hopefully it's resolved soon.

disappointing is almost not the word I'd use after hours of logging in over and over and sometimes getting to click play only to repeat the process over and over. I'm trying to give the game a chance but there's a point. Could we have somekind of comment from the devs or support?

Yeah, some hint as to what is wrong would be awesome.

I'm also on a university network, perhaps that has something to do with it?

Same problem here, was busy creating a character then it logged me out now I try to log back in and all I get is connecting to the login server in white writing on a grey box then it times out after a while

I logged in this morning and this weekend and now the servers are dead at launch. Oh well, too bad. I only prepaid for 6 months to get into the Star Trek Beta.

It's a shame that a company who has so much experience running MMOs has such a poor launch. You'd think they'd understand that this is as far as most people will tolerate things crashing. I'd be willing to bet they loose 25% or more of their long term customers for this.

Even better, they were deploying a patch and instead of the game hitting a mismatch and kicking you back out to the launcher, I had to try a few times to notice a message blur by that said "Version Mismatch" and figure out to relaunch the game myself.

Fix that guys. That's pretty simple.
