I'm considering joining, however, I have a few questions.
What is RPing like in Champions? The only other MMO I have played is WoW, and the character options were so limited, and the lore so cliche' I never bothered trying to RP. Do we like, meet up in the game and act out situations just like a normal PnP RPG? Or, is this community just a forum group where we can role play our Champions characters with each other? (sorry, If I'm not making this clear).
Is the role playing just actual free form role playing, or do we use some sort of rules system? I play DnD and some other home brewed PnP RPGS so I'm accustomed to both.

Free form of role playing.
Some Super Groups are just a place for people to get in character and ehance their fun.
Other guilds have "plots" and storylines that advance, similar to a Comic book mechanic, with RP posting expanding the story.

Right, can I have a proper explanation for my ban from the forum please? Not only was the given reason (although not to me, no - it was instead placed in an entirely seperated thread with a rather heavy dose of passive aggression) contradicting the direction other threads had gone in (i.e. derailed), my posts were edited to be quite derogatory in nature and I was subject to the same sort of language, worse in some cases, that I'd been called out on! In a section of the forum which was explicitly set up to allow this kind of thing no less.
Now either there's some very heavy handed bias going on, the other threads were overlooked or it was just a poor moderating decision. I would like something a bit more substantial than "you derailed" or, at least, have the other participants also see their forum rights revoked.
If it was about previous posts, then I have to wonder why nobody bothered questioning me about it via private messages. Flaming and derailing is hardly a new thing in the volcano.

Well, according to a friend I was banned for insulting people. Now the problem I have with this is:
1.) The section of the forum I posted in has a history of being filled with flames, and provocative statements all over the place.
2.) People that responded with some much more vile remarks (I'm sorry but calling someone a 'thickheaded nazi c***' goes above and beyond being told to f-off), and edited my posts to 'I Suck D***s' not only continue to post but have apparently not receieved any discplinary action themselves. Given one of them is a moderator...
3.) If the above is justified because the poster felt provoked, why can I not get away with excusing my posts via the level of snark and sarcasm I faced in the beginning of the thread?
I don't give a damn about the ban - what's rubbing me the wrong way is the horribly biased manner it was carried out in, and how favourites are being played. Either take action against everyone, ammend the rules accordingly and go from there, and take back my ban and move on as if nothing had happened.
So. What gives? Why this inconsistent approach?

[ Since you decided to post this in the public view, I guess I'll respond in the public's view.
Two people have been banned from CORP so far, you being one of them. You broke the rules, so unfortunately you were removed from the community. It's also not wise to tell two mods, and three Admin to, censored for the public "fuzz off".
We're now moving on, I'm sorry it had to end like it did.]

[ Since you decided to post this in the public view, I guess I'll respond in the public's view.
Because I was banned from the forum without so much as warning PM. Hence I came here. If the moderators are unwilling to discuss it on the CORP website, I believed they would do so here. Evidently, that's not the case as this...

...is completely skirting around the issue. Why was I banned for swearing in a forum, which was set up to allow gratutious swearing (as shown by your own frequent phrase of the words), but the people editing my posts and calling me the aformentioned 'thickheaded nazi cun*' not? Can you explain the horrific double standard here, or or tell me why someone who's meant to enforce the rules can get away with violating them so badly himself? There's certainly no rule about moderators being able to get away with abusing their powers, or that only people named poptart_fairy are not allowed to post any tangents in a thread.
A full ban, without warning or prior discussion, only to see worse offenders escape this leaves a very sour taste in my mouth, especially in a community that likes to claim 'anything goes' and that they 'feel that everyone on the forums have the right to voice their opinion'.
Again, I would like a proper explanation for this (and no, 'you broke the rules' doesn't count unless you justify why nobody else in that thread was banned under such criteria). Otherwise I'm just going to have to believe this is nothing more than being singled out.

While on the subject, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but WWW.CHAMPIONSONLINEROLEPLAYERS.COM (In-Game Channel: CORP) is a FREE-TO-USE website for RPers seeking a community of fellow RPers, which include a MODERATED forum maintained by a FRIENDLY STAFF OF VOLUNTEERS in which to share thoughts and opinions with other RPers. I don't care about the legal side of things. I care about the hypocrisy and severe level of double standards I'm dealing with - at no point has any explanation beyond "you broke the rules" been given or offered. What does it say about a community where moderators can abuse their powers and insult the playerbase, but you're not allowed to do anything to them in kind?
As I said, the ban doesn't bother me. The approach and inconsistent approach to the 'rules' does. Really, they could just say 'we don't want you posting there' and be done with it - at least then it'd be sincere. Instead I'm given a very limp, very two-faced justification.

My ban isn't the issue. It's that I was the only one handed a ban.
I'd like an answer that justifies this (http://yfrog.com/12forumeoj) going unchallenged, when f*** off gets an immediate, permanent ban. Is it a lax approach to the rules, a genuine oversight or are CORP moderators and admins given immunity just because?

[ None of us get paid for CORP, we've created the website for roleplayers, by roleplayers and we work our asses off to provide a nice environment where roleplayers can get together. The second you start insulting the creators of the website, who pay for it out of their own pockets, who spend their free time trying to make the website as functional as possible, who can't even -play- the game at the moment because they're working hard to create a great Roleplay community, you're just asking to be banned.
That was one excerpt of the whole conversation, and frankly it's disgusting to know that you would stoop so low as to try to justify the creators actions with creating drama out in the public.
We're moving on, and you will not get another response from me. You broke the rules, learn something from this instead of trying to cause more of a problem.]

Yes, it was one excerpt. Others would have included the further language that was thrown at me, the editing of my post, as well as the sarcasm and constant misrepresentation aimed at what was trying to say. However, none of these changes the fact I'm not in any doubt about why I was banned, or how evasive (and cowardly, frankly) you're being about the issue.
For the fourth ime, I was banned for telling someone to 'frak off' (not those words exactly of course). Yet the post, from an administrator, is gone unpunished and actively applauded by the other members of the group. Why? Why is there such a double standard present in the moderation of the group that prides itself on the volcano being an where 'anything goes'? What does it say about a community where the ones meant to be enforcing its rules are the only ones who can get away with flagrantly insulting people, in quite a foul manner, and then hiding behind their status to avoid any repercussions? Why, exactly, do you continue to avoid the subject if it's as cut and dry and simple as you keep claiming it is?
I've accepted my ban. I just question your approach to internal policing.
If CORP is unable to accept criticism, seeking only the positive remarks and fleeing from anything that reflects negatively upon it, then that doesn't present a particuarly good image to any members. Working your 'asses off' is no excuse to be hypocrites.

I've sat on the sidelines since this has been going on, do I know the reason behind your ban? No. Yet while you claim you don't care you won't let the subject go. You were banned from a online forum boohoo besides the fact that there are quite a number out there you are acting like the admins and mods owe you something.
Guess what, they don't.
An online forum is not a democracy you don't get a say in how its ran. You don't decided who stays and who goes, you don't vote on anything on it. The fact that its online leaves it up to the whim of those that run the site. You don't have freedoms on the internet.

Yet they've already given a reason, hence why I'm now asking that to be applied equally. If they would do that or simply come out and state they have no intention of being consistent in this case, then it would show integrity and I would be happy. I am uncertain.
Since I utilize the PRIMUS DB already (in which I already announced my curiosity in more than bland IC talk on the user page), i might as well drop by.
The problem is, that I know next to nothing about them "serious roleplay". As I said, most I have done is simple IC talk for fun, since my characters all have a rather large backstory and unique personalities. There is potential for roleplay, but I just don't know if i'd fit in.

You're more than welcome to drop by, and it sounds like you have all the potential to be a good fit, as you say.
RP can easily start with IC banter while doing missions, and never has to get deeper than that. Generally, you'll find someone picks up on a reference to a backstory, and it all builds from there without necessarily needing to deliberately 'go into serious RP mode'.

Alright then.
I'll drop by later on and see what happens. I'd have to lie if I said, that I was not curious

Too many to keep track of. There are many active on the site, while some just lurk. But mostly in-game is where people are most active.

I can't role play, I had a tragic accident as a kid that took away my ability to role play. I've tried alternative ways to role play and thus far have been unsuccessful.
I shall continue searching for a cure, so that one day I too can pretend things. Well, we can dream... we can dream.
