Any chance that announcements (like server shutdowns) could also be related to us EU players by either using GMT or CET rather than some 'who cares what part of the US you live in' time?
Remember, Europeans are people too, so at least have the decency to make any announcements with respect to the time in some format that doesn't involve guessing how many hours too add to whichever random US time you choose.
Cheers.

They should change the ingame clock too. I do not know in what time things will happen. Just put it in GMT. Everyone should know what amount they should add on or subtract from the GMT.
In europe (CET, GMT+1, GMT+2 during summer) myself.

Damn you EU players we Yanks know that the only important time is USA time!!!!
shock an' awe baby!!!
shock an' awe!!!
*waves American flag furiously*
In all seriousness, this is a valid suggestion.
I mean it cant be to hard to at least post 2 times ( one GMT and one PST )
then again all us Yanks are pretty unintelligent. ;)

Even though it's easy for me to convert to my timezone (EST) from Cryptic's timezone (PST), I agree with the OPs request; including a GMT time-reference in parentheses after any PST/PDT time would be low-difficulty and high-benefit.

This would be great. I always keep forgetting how many hours behind PDT is.

this gets a big /signed from me aswell...
I mean, if other game companies can do this, why can't you??
If not for early start, then atleast get it in for when CO goes Live. Makes life much more easy for us not living in the US, and not having to use an external web site to calculate times...

No matter where you live, you have to figure out what time the servers use as opposed to your own. Other places in the US just have to add smaller numbers. Once you learn what number you have to add or subtract to the time, then when they post you can figure it out.
Example: I live on the east coast. My time is three hours off of server time. Whatever time they post, i just add three and BAM! i know what time!
It is not difficult.

Of course it's not difficult. All we're asking for is some convenience.

I see we've already got the usual reply of "It's not that hard to work out"
The thing is time is a tricky buisness, If you live in the US you know your time compared to PST. In fact you can most likely do the calculation without thinking by now.
The same goes for the EU and GMT. Sure we could grab the calculator and work it out each time and compare PST to GMt or BSt or GMT+3 or whatever. But then again they could just write it down so everyone can see a time and go *click*.
I don't think we need to go as far as changing the in-game clock really, but the world is only really centered around 2 timezones...
May as well display both.

That's not the point. The point is to make it simple for everyone, and I for one, have trouble with maths, and are thus kinda handicapped when it comes to time zone calculations.
So, to make it easier on players from around the globe, please post down times and the likes in different time zones. CoX does this, SWG does this, and probably some other MMO's aswell, and the community really appreciates it.

What do you add or subtract from "Central European Time", on order to get your local time?
Don't know, do you? Lord knows, I don't.
My point is: not everyoen in the world knows that Pacific Standard Time is GMT-8.
More importantly, when the developers start using PAcific DAYLIGHT time ... even fewer people outside the U.S. know when our Daylight Savings time starts and ends, nor which direction it goes in. Just like, for example, I bet you don't know when "Moscow Summer Time" begins and ends, at least without looking it up.
Andif I had typed that question in proper Russian, you'd be hard-pressed to look it up, language translators or not. Yet, you expect folks actually in Moscow to know what time it is in California? Without any difficulty?
...
How about this? Without following these links to see the time zone ... someone who lives in Yinchuan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yinchuan), capital of the Ningxia Autonomous Region (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ningxia) in the People's Republic of China. On November 22nd, 10am Pacific Daylight Time is what time on the clock, locally? And for added difficulty, you must answer in Chinese, and provide links only to sources NOT considered "inappropriate" (or even outright blocked) by the Chinese government.
And no, that's not unfair - it's only the SAME level of difficulty that said person might encounter (assuming China let it's citisens subscribe to such an unregulated-by-them Western MMO in the first place, of course).
...
All of a sudden, converting a foreign time zone into your own LOCAL time zone doesn't sound so easy, does it?

Put an option in account to state our timezone city and use that info to automatically show local time on both dev forum posts and in-game.
Voila!
BTW, there is a javascript that does that automatically by using PC's timezone without asking the user and respects daylight time savings too but can't be extended in-game I am afraid :P

That's because you're used to it. In the UK, I know what time it is in France, Spain, Germany, Poland, Finland etc...
How about we use ZULU time instead. No problem for me as I'm used to working with it. However, for most US people (unless they're in the military or something), I think you'd find it a pain in the backside. We can add and subtract as well as anyone. However, most Europeans are unfamiliar with the US's several time zones and giving us our own time reference just makes things easier. It is not difficult, but it can be time comsuming, especially when our daylight saving hours change at different times of the year to the US and also Europeans just aren't use to relating to other time zones like residents in the US are because we rarely need to.
No need to be condescending.
Plus GMT/ZULU is the official mean time after all :p
