View Full Version : Invasion Density

I'm enjoying the headstart so far, but I do have a bit of a request: could we see an increase in the invasion density?

This is a temporary event, and like most people I wanted to kill my invaders and get my "unique lewts" and everything, but the way things seem to be working, we have these VERY long gaps between waves of Qualarr attacking the set areas, followed by the entire zone of heroes coming back to attack comparitively few enemies. I feel more like I'm scrambling to grab an autographed drumstick thrown off the stage by a band in concert than I do like I'm desperatly fighting an alien invasion.

Given the time lapse between waves, and the fact that I kill/quest in between it's becoming annoying since I'm rapidly outleveling the event and that means that I have to travel futher, and further back in order to try and pick off a couple more Qualarr.

Yes, I understand the concept of partying for events, buit since it's mostly returning questers and everyone is in a rush, I have had little luck in the way of joining a group or getting much in the way of responses during my attempts to start one.

So ummm... could someone please go poke the Qualarr hive and tell them they are a group of pathetic wusses or something, so they will get angry and swarm us in appropriate numbers? Thanks.

Oh and one other thing, I do not know the entire game, but due to this event I left the Tutorial after killing a mere 1100 some odd Qualrarr. I wanted the "Bugzapper" title/unlocks but figured with the invasion event there would be like a giant "mega destroid' killing event where I could get a few thousand kills without having to terroize the tutorial population. This is in part why I am a bit disappointed.

If all else fails, do Qualarr live anyplace else except for this event and their "natural habitat" of the Tutorial area? Or is this a situation where I'll have to focus on getting Bugzapper for another character? I sort of wanted the character I have now (a Powered Armor/Sorcery character, that is like a good aligned Doctor Doom with a bit of The Joker (or Jack In The Box from Astro City) thrown in) to be my main as I'm using my namesake/handle for it. As such I kind of wanted the Bugzapper achievement FOR my main.

Apologies for the length, but basically the point of this post is to kindly request more malevolent alien invaders.

Oh good.

Post the very same request in this thread here.

I think you'll get a faster response, and you have a higher chance of being noticed by a developer, mainly Daeke. Not right now though, I think he's asleep.;)

I think a more numerous attack force would be nice, or increased in frequency (Most I've seen was 2 in an hour, and they both ended in 3 minutes flat). Understandably, to keep the rewards random and not something that's expected, lower the drop rate accordingly (IE, twice the mobs, half the drop rate=same total # of drops).

Well what happens is that once you are in post-Crisis Desert (or Canada) the Qualarr periodically invade either Project Greenskin or Steelhead. There is a texed based annoucement (in your window with the combat info/zone chat/whatever) in yellow that announces the Qualarr are attacking with is your indication to head back from where you are. You'll see ships flying overhead, and what seems like maybe a dozen Qualar drop onto the base in 3 waves and then the event ends when it says the leaders are killed. Then you have to wait for it to happen again.

Well, my opinion is that I see the event and the "only in headstart" items are sort of a payoff/feature of having pre-ordered from a retailer with head start access. I see it as a situation where we are supposed to get the items as opposed to real "rare drops" this is just a fun way of doing it.

I see plenty of gray exclaimation points after these battles (though I only managed to get one item I could pick up: some adhesive grenades) that's just people not caring or not being observent. I'm fine with the drop rate. I just want to see more Qualarr so I can like kill some a bunch of them.

They also attack 2 seperate locations in MC. One by the plane when you first come in, those are like lvl 10 or 12. Then over on the north side of Champions HQ, those are lvl 18.

Desert, Qularr crash site near Area 51, about mid 20s level wise.
Monster Island, has a bunch of them on the western end of the Isle.

The friendly NPCs really need to have their Thermonuclear Raid Weaponry repo'd. We only had like 2 groups there killing them, and all of the leaders died in about 15 seconds due to the NPCs owning them. Not a very epic experience at all.

The invasion forces are tiny compared to the last event. It goes so fast you can't really mission inbetween... you have to stand there and wait or you won't get to kill any. As everyone is having the same problem, each time they spawn there are more and more people piling up trying to get the perks.

Killing 100 is not realistic with this spawn timer.

I am signing this

the invasion is weak, there are no aliens to kill, npcs kill them faster than we can, and there is little to no chance at grouping because everyone is just passing by on quest runs anyways

Not that I want to turn this into a petition thread by any means, but the numbers just aren't adding up here. The best I can figure is that the invasion happens about once every 30 minutes. And it lasts about 30 seconds. If you're anywhere in the zone, doing what you're supposed to be doing -- you're not going to be getting any credit at all. And even if you camp it, you're lucky to tag more than one or two. 100 for the event? Darn near impossible.

So you can either spend your time actually playing the game, or camping the spawn point, and hoping to get lucky. What is bad is that there's only one more day to go -- and Sunday ain't my best playing day!

I will /sign this also. The spawn rates are way to far apart 30 min-1 hr and barely know it happens, either. I was around the area in Canada for one of them and they were dead before I could even turn around. They had the open beta event good should be like that(maybe not as intense but more than 1 min every hour)

I haven't been able to catch ONE invasion. I want to try for the perks from HS, but with how fast and far between these so-called 'invasions' are I won't have a single chance. I've been hanging around the Canada map for ages and I haven't seen a single one?

Very much /signed.

First day of headstart, invasions were nice. Sevral waves of aliens, plenty to kill.

Catch several waves and you'd have 100 without any issues.

Now - one wave, a few aliens, NPCs kill them 10x as fast as we can, leaders arrive and fall down dead as soon as they hit the ground, invasion over, wait for next.

Disappointing. I really hope this is a bug and not the intended form of the event.

For each wave, I get exactly 13 kills while grouped, so it will/would take me 8 waves to get the perk. Urgh...

Agreed these invasions are on auto pilot or something the entire thing was over in 1.2 minutes, I timed it, it didn't run checks on heros nearby or amount of resistance, it just dropped the first wave, 30 seconds alter the next wave, then 20 seconds later the swamp lords and then it killed anything that was left at 1.2 minutes....

There HAS to be something wrong with this...

Was just thinking about this earlier today...

It's really more of a weak attack then it is an invasion. I mean, the NPCs were doing a more then adequate job of tearing everything apart when I was involved in one in Canada, to the point that with just 3 heroes it was over in a flash.

I say three, but it was closer to four... The amount of weight I lended to it was more of the 'glaring menacingly' variety, as I didn't have a lot of time to get into range (next time, I'll just teleport into things :<).

I witnessed something hilarious earlier today. I was helping a friend out in Canada with some missions. I see the announcement that an invasion is starting. Almost instantly the announcement of the Swarm Lords being killed. LOL, what in the world happened there?? That was like, SPAWN*POOF*DEAD.

The respawn times seem to be growing greater over time. Last night it seemed like every 20 minutes we'd get a tiny spawn in the desert, now over an hour has passed and I haven't seen one in the same area. I want to do this, but I am also working. Cryptic, please make the spawns nearly constant so that I can get it done in an hour or so and not have to miss out due to work.

As someone mentioned on Zone chat earlier today:

"This isn't an invasion....when the Destroyer robots came to MC, THAT was an invasion."

Heh, this seems more like there's an issue in the system where they are timed to death, literally. and I have 17 more to kill. I get about 4 per invasion.

Alright here's proof positive I'm not nuts o_o

Screenies of the bugged..bugs, that spawn immediately after the event kills itself within 1.2 minutes, and the times in chat that show me when it begins, transitions and ends within that period of time o_o

Sadly today is the last day for the event. I managed to get two characters through it for the perks. I did not however find even a single high powered Qualarr weapon for a trophy. Only "charged" items. Very sad.

Things still seem bugged.

I am a little disappointed, I mean we got the headstart which was the big thing. The special event however is a disaster and truthfully I kind of wasted the head start trying to do this invasion thing. I did it with two characters hoping to get a permanant item. Many, many hours have been invested.

In the overall scheme of things I guess it's not a big deal, but I was hoping it would be fixed for today at leas, since tomorrow is launch and you can't really have a special event for headstart players anymore. :/

The part that bothers me the most is I'm gonna have it in my perks listed "13/100" from now till the end of the game. That was three events over 2 hours of time.

The only reason I got a kill at all was because I was grouped. The event literally lasted less then a minute for the last one I did.

"Swarmlords have landed, oh wait nevermind we shot them down while they were landing." should of been the damn text.

I sent most of yesterday trying to get the kills a need for this event and after working on it all day am only up to 40. No one want to send there day waiting for the attack. I like the game but with events like this they will kill off the player base.
