Controller:
I finally tried out the controller, now that we're playing the live client, and found it to be quite enjoyable. I was wondering if anyone knew of any concrete plans to expand controller support? I'd love to see the ability to customize what the buttons do. More than anythine else, I'd like a way to activate Devices with the controller. So far I haven't found one. If any member of the community has any links or info on what the devs are or aren't doing with controllers, I'd appreciate it.
Microtransactions:
There were rumors yesterday that today would see the Microtransaction preview that was mentioned earlier in the month. Did I misunderstand? I'm really interested in some of the potential costumes, action figures, and services the Cryptic Store could offer.

I do not know, but Deake did say that he was staring at the preview website. And that it should be up before sept 1st. I am waiting on that info too.

There is a control sheet around that has all the keys, and you can do a lot with the controller.
To use devices you hit the right gamepad arrow and then use xyba to get the four device slots.

Hrmm, I must be having a unique issue with my gamepad then. the X button gives a (Null Error) and the D-Pad does nothing. It's the main controller I use to play my 360, so I'm sure the controller works. I just updated to the latest M$ drivers for it on my PC, too. Any suggestions?

The dpad works as a toggle.
If you hold the right arrow button down and then hit the X button it should use your first device.
I am going to see if I can find the post in the archive with the keys and repost it.

No, I mean, even if I walk up to an activatable item (a trashcan to pick up, a clickable glowy) and push UP on the D-Pad like it tells me too, nothing happens. Oddly, I was able to get devices to work, so maybe it's only a couple of buttons that aren't working properly for me.
And, when trying to push X to use my Energy Builder, I get Unkown command (Null)

Yeah the D-pad is a bit bugged, and if you have several options as in "pick trashcan, talk to x guy, etc" it wont work. But it other than that it semi-works.

Yeah selecting Z items with the control pad when you have multiple choices is bugged.
Hopefully they will fix it eventually.
For that I would keep the keyboard or mouse nearby.
One other thing is if you have your inventory open no buttons work except moving. Sometimes can get you in hot water if you are not paying attention.
Otherwise though it works very well.

More wierdness:
X will work when used with LT or Right D-Pad
Nothing works with LB
Only Y and B work with RT
Up on the D-Pad has no function at all, wether there is one option, multiple options, or I'm currently holding an item.
Not even sure how to troubleshoot a partially-function controller that works fine on the 360.

Ok. Then your controller is bugged.

Yeah, I'm wondering if anyone can give me any tips on how to fix this. As I've said, this is my main controller for use on the 360. It's worked perfectly through hundreds of hours of gaming :D

If it works fine on the 360 it is probably a driver issue.
I did not have to do anything to install mine. I hav 64-bit vista and I just plugged it in and the drivers were installed automagically.
I ran the game and it worked.
If it were me I might try removing any drivers related to the controller, rebooting and just plugging it in and see what happens. But I don't know what OS you are using.
Also possible some other USB device is interfering. If you want to troubleshoot it some more might try doing the above and if that does not work, then unplug every usb device on the computer besides the controller. (Obviously if you have the game on an external USB drive then don't unplug that.)

I'm using Windows 7. I updated to the latest drivers through Windows Update when I first ran into issues.
There really isn't anything I can unplug from my USB ports. My keyboard and mouse are both USB, and other than those I have the controller plugged in.
I'll see if the USB drivers need updating. Windows 7 has been so automagically plug and play with everything that I haven't needed to install any drivers at all yet. All my hardware has just worked, without any effort on my part, in all the games and apps I've used.

Not sure. I think others with Windows 7 have been using it. That is my vague recollection from some of the discussiosn in open beta.
Not really sure what might be causing it to be wonky.
I don't think this will matter, but in options --->controls, what are the top 3 options set to?

Did a test with joy.cpl to see if Windows was getting things. All of the buttons and axis lit up.
Top 3 options are set to "MMO Controls", "Like Fantasy games', and "Free Camera"
I have rebound some keys myself, but again the controller buttons are working on some rebound keys and not others. And I still don't understand why pressing X causes "Unknown command (null)" to be displayed as a System message.

THANK YOU!! In particular I found it frustrating not knowing how to block with the game controller.

Finally sorted out my problem only took me all night :D
My bind file for the controller is messed up somehow. I need to manually rebind the controls to get it to work. For example, inputting the string "/bind XB +PowerTrayExec 0" made the "null" error go away, and now my Energy Builder works! :D
