It may be staring me in the face but I can't find it. Is there a search engine in game showing u all the heroes online? much like the one in coh?

You should see the Champions logo on the minimap (top left I believe) when you click it there should be social and a tab for finding teams... only used it once so I don't remember too well, also there is a "looking for team" in the Quick Select menu on the Chat log.
