Straight from the Website....

Minimum System Requirements:

OS:Windows XP SP2/ Windows Vista/Windows 7
CPU:2.5GHz Single Core or 1.8GHz Dual Core
Memory:1GB RAM
Video:NVIDIA GeForce 7600 / ATI Radeon X700 or HD / Intel GMA 4
Sound: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Soundcard
DirectX:Version 9.0c or Higher
HDD:5GB Free Disk Space
Network:Broadband Required
Disc:6X DVD-ROM

What I got in my Tower:

OS: WinXp 64bit
CPU: QuadCore Extreme 2.83
Memory: 4Gb's
Video: NVIDEA GeForce 9400
Sound: Audigy2 Sound Blaster Platinum Pro
DirectX: DirectX 9
HDD: More than enough
Network: .....what do you think...
Disc: 22X DVD-ROM

So anyone either Dev or Player mind explaining to me why I can't get passed the 'Press Play' part of the login in portion before crashing due to a D3D error??? Any help Dev/Player would be greatly appreciated.

Have you updated your drivers from nvida? There were new ones released on the 21st for many cards. The biggest fixes for most of us are going to be driver level changes from nVidia, not necessarily from Cryptic.

Installed latest DirectX release? The Champions installer does not include the latest DX release, IIRC.

Make sure that PhysX is turned off in the nVidia CP. The 9400s are almost identical to a 7600 GT, performance-wise, which means you are just barely meeting the minimum spec for video. Having PhysX enabled with a low end card will murder your FPS even if you do get past the D3D error. Having it on might even be causing the the error.

That's about all I can think of. I would try filing a ticket or just PMing one of the mods with any info you have about the error so they can get to the right devs.

to be honest those requirements are way to low . You will not get a decent fps with that system but to be honest with a single core , 1 gig ram and a low end card what did you expect with a new game ?

Not sure what to think about this situation: I have two similar PC's and one runs better than the other.

The system that runs it WELL is:
Athlon 64x2 (3.2GHZ)
MSI Geforce 8800GTS (G92)
8 gigs RAM
Creative Labs X-fi Fatal1ty Pro
Vista premium

The system that runs it somewhat OK to POOR is:
Atlon 64x2 (3.2GHz)
MSI Geforce 9800GX2
4 gigs RAM
Creative Labs X-fi Fatal1ty Pro
Win XP Pro
(Yes, I DO know that XP only uses 3.2 gigs or RAM)

Both machines run the exact same graphic settings (what I would call "Medium High") at 1680x1050. and the second system listed runs fairly "choppy" in heavily populated areas.

He has a quadcore and 4gbs of ram... read much?

I take that back. They are close, but... After looking the actual numbers up, I realized the 9400 GT is actually a good bit less powerful than a 7600 GT, putting it firmly below min spec. The 9400 GT is actually more like the 7300s from that series because they are such low-end cards with old 128-bit memory architecture and really slow shader/mem clocks.

GeForce 7600 GT - 22.4 GB/s bandwidth and 12 shader pipes

GeForce 9400 GT - 12.8 GB/s bandwidth and 16 shader pipes

And just for reference, here's the recommended card's specs:

GeForce 8800 GT - 57.6 GB/s bandwidth and 112 shader pipes

Even if the devs patch up the performance issues people are having with the mid- and high-end cards, I don't think anything will address the folks trying to run the game on a card which is essentially half of what they stated as the min spec.

Also, the OP didn't mention what resolution he was trying to run the game in. Trying to overdrive that little 9400 is likely the sole cause for the issues. The 9400 makes an admirable card for a small form factor media box, but for a gaming rig, even a light duty gaming rig, it fails pretty hard as the resolution increases. Find a cheap used 8800GTS 512 (or better) to throw in there and I'd wager your issues with the game will end.

Or rather, they'll just change to the same performance issues everyone else has. :D

My system is fairly humble by todays standards:

Core2 duo E6600 oc'd to 3ghz
4M ram
8800gts 512
win 7

and it has no problems playing at 1920x1200 with fairly aggressive settings. Does get a little choppy
when people are crowding in together, and the giant robot fights at the end of beta were murder, but
otherwise, it hums right along just fine.

Nope. I don't think so. My gpu has graphics memory 256mb and the game runs pretty smooth.

Uh. You DO realize you're replying to an archived thread that's over three and a half years old right?
