First things first: I ordered the game from Direct2Drive, so I realize I shouldn't be able to log in at the moment.

My question is this: what is "permission pairs" and why do I have one?

I had this exact problem. I had to call Cryptic. Their number is in the support section. I got through surprisingly quickly. For some reason when I entered my key it did not attach to my account. The guy at Cryptic was able to manually attach the key to my account and then I was able to log in. Hope this helps.

All right, I will see if the problem persists after I get my retail key. Now I know what to do if it does.

P. S. The phone numbers in the support section are for UK and the US, respectively. I wonder if one could use Skype instead: calling support from other countries would cost several times the game's retail price. Heh.

Theres also an option in the support section to send a ticket. I dont dont know how long it takes though.
