Connection to Patcher is Idling

Hey,

Right had a horrible night with this game, I was all patched up days ago waiting to log in. Do so, rubberband, disconnect, get stuck on the 'trying to account log in screen' for what seemed like eternity. Now...

I decide to uninstall and reinstall from my fileplanet closed beta file but after installing and trying to fire up the launcher to patch it up, it hangs on 'trying to update launcher', then the connection idles out. This happens everytime.

What am I to do, Ive tried rebooting the pc, trying a different installer and it happens the same everytime.

Missing headstart here, and more importantly time with my friends.

Yep, I had the same problem for the last few days now. Mine happened without me even reinstalling, just one days it workin and the next it's not. I tried restarting, reinstalling etc with no luck. At first the launcher wouldn't even appear in my task bar, I had to open the .exe as a win 95 program for it to even show me an error on screen.

There used to be a bunch of threads about this before they cleared the PC & Technical Issues board. I have yet to find the solution. Really upset that I'm missing the early start.

Yep, I replyed to your post just before the forums went down saying I had the same problem as you. Then was surprised to see all the forums had gone when it came back up, I guess all we can do is keep bumping.

Right well I 'seem' to have solved my issue by rebooting my router a good few times. How long it will stay decent for who knows but one can only cross fingers and hope :)

Can it really be that simple? This is a problem that apparantly has been going on for a couple/few weeks, and reseting your router couls solve it. Well it worked for 3 of us. Anyone else?

Resetting the router didn't seem to fix my problem. But, this info helped me out.

Thanks for this suggestion. Doing this AND unchecking "disable visual themes" seems to have worked for me. Don't know why, I had tried the latter days ago, but not the 95 thing until now.

Now it at least the patcher loads - then crashes when I hit play - but that's probably yet another unrelated issue that has to be dealt with now. :(

I'm having the same problem and I'm on a wired network that doesn't use a wireless router. No idea what to do.

This is starting to get pretty frustrating. As long as other people are getting on I guess (although I kind of wish the problem was more widespread so Cryptic would actually do something about it.)
