The Second and Third generations
The Vanguard... for generations they have protected and served. Independent of government control yet cooperative in nature they stood above all but the best. A successive series of Champions and Heroes - the Vanguard were a permanent fixture in the world of superhumans. Pillars of the community, Idols of the media, an inspiration to all, human or meta.
Many thought the battle of Detroit would be the end, they were wrong. The Vanguard were among the first on the scene, battling alongside other Heroes as Doctor Destroyer sought to bring the world to its knees. Some were injured, others were killed - wounded and weary, the Vanguard survived and as the toll of the battle unfolded the world lay in shock, Heroes with skins of unbreakable steal emptied the contents of their stomachs, Leaders from the world over pledged to fight the rising tide of villainy and the registration and recruitment of Heroes began. The clean-up operation was instantaneous in commencing, but long in the undertaking - those that could set about freeing trapped civilians, dousing fires, and counting the bodies.
When rebuilding began over a year later, The Vanguard watched as hundreds of government sponsored super heroes made progress at an unprecedented rate. Millennium City rose from the ashes of a thousand destroyed lives and it sparkled in the sun like the wings of a Phoenix. Crime dropped as Metahumans swarmed the streets, skies and waters of the city - Millennium city became a home for the empowered and a haven for the innocent.
As the world changed before them, The Vanguard too felt the stirring of desire - a desire for peace. There was only one solution. As their predecessors before them, The Vanguard chose their successors.
Archangel was a natural leader and under his supervision The Vanguard prospered. The second generation sat back and far from young, watched as their protégés carried on the legacy of the team.
Newtons law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction and as the most powerful generation of Guardsmen yet battled evil, evil rose. Villain after Villain fell before the might of Archangel, Kite, Cortosis, Aegis, Empath, Thrawn and Mainframe. The combined abilities of the team toppled all before them and the Heroes were revered until one day, one battle, changed everything. Atlas remembers. They were scared, they were all scared, except Archangel, and at the last, when Archangel held Lucifer as Aegis unleashed a force wave powerful enough to bring the city block down around them...
They found him in the rubble two days later. With a whole city block to search the only surprise is how they found him at all. He spent weeks in intensive care, nobody visits. Two months the doctors told him, two months before he could leave, as for right now... he couldn't even walk. Another month went by... Empath visited.
"Dead" she told him... "Archangel, Kite.. and Cerys.... she...sh-" Empath couldn't finish her sentence, they both cry and as they touch he sees her in his mind, the Telepath's touch showing him what she saw. Cortosis, kept alive by a machine, her legs gone. At least she's not concious he thought. Don't let her wake up he prayed.
"Thrawn?" He asked her.
"Gone" she replied, not dead, just.... gone and Mainframe? Mainframe couldn't accept it, he retreated to the virtual world he created and never came back
Even two years on Hannah sits with Cerys every day, searching for a sign of consciousness before returning home to her family, the spark gone from her eyes. Alex Varsa lives alone, in the basement room of a standard boarding house. The Vanguard Tower is empty, a place of rememberance for those who lost precious ones in the battle. Now he sits in darkness and he knows. He knows that even with the hundreds, the thousands of Heroes... the danger is only getting worse.
Hearing sirens, Martin walks to his little window and narrows his eyes and presses his hands to the wall, lost in indecision. No longer the carefree young hero he once was, and doubts he ever will be, for the first time in two years Aegis takes to the streets.

The Fourth Generation
Still blaming himself for the death of former teammate Archangel, Aegis holds back greatly. The former Vanguard member blends in with the many Heroes of Millennium City as he tackles crime. He knows his meagre efforts are helping, but until he finds his feet once more Alex is not capable of fighting supervillains that he used to. No, Alex is starting again, working from the bottom up, one mobster at a time until he has perfected his powers, no more collateral damage, no more accidents, no more deaths and each evening he occupies the empty shell of the Vanguard Tower and awaits the arrival of a new generation of Guardsmen.

The Vanguard is a medium RP group, posts should be made in character whenever possible, but breaking of the fourth wall is allowed. (This means that you can ask relevant questions out of character, or have your character address another person directly)
The aim of the group is not to focus on numbers, but on community. The Avengers are a small group, the original Justice League the same - this guild will grow over time but as of now my aim is to create a small core group of Heroes, the Vanguard as it were for the army this guild may one day grow into.
Application on this thread should be made in a role-play format, with a character either approaching the Guardtower or Aegis himself. This being said, you are free to ask questions out of character.
For now, friendship and community are the primary goals of the guild but in the future a successful PvP team and group of partners is the ideal.
The Vanguard is primarily a silver age style group, embodying all the traditional ideologies of the superhero genre. While Aegis' past contains a great tragedy, it is from tragedy that true heroes rise and it is the glory of heroism that this team embodies. Past incarnations of the team were well known heroes so characters should already know of the team though think it abandoned.
Chat is divided into three.
Supergroup chat is for roleplaying in, think of it as the team comms system.
Officer chat will only be acessible to the Alpha team and used for personal/guild management
We have also set up a public channel that is accessible through the chat options, simply click the channels tab and type in "Vanguard RP" this channel is for non roleplayed group chat.
I am considering adding a fourth channel for external communications to the group IE alliances or appicants

[Previous team line-up]
Team leader: Archangel (Michael) was a courageous and honorable being, an Angel with control over light and fire elements.
Kite (Lucas Williams) : Was a young and ambitious archer, a very optimistic man.
Empath (Hannah Noble) : Minor telepathy but very strong Empathy skills, senses and effects the mood of any living being as well as planted suggestive commands into a persons subconcious
Aegis: See bio
Thrawn (also his name): Large shapeshifter, could turn into an extremely large wolf but this affected his mind as well as body and his human brain became a tiny part of the wolfs being, not feral, but far from human when in this form.
Mainframe: The merger of a dying man and an artificial intelligence he attempted to steal, Mainframe has an intangible or sometimes solid hologram form as well as techonpathic, electrokinetic and very minor psychic abilities. A very logical/computer based being - mainframe was also integral to the Guardtowers computer system
Cortosis (Cerys Wallsworth) : Cortosis was a brash young woman eager to charge in head first, altered metabolism allowed her to produce energy at a high rate which she could fire in blasts or enhance the limitations of her body with allowing for enhanced speed and strength.

Character Name: Aegis (Alex Varsin)
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Species: Human (Unknown/Natural)
Abilities: Telekinetic force user. Above average intellect. Redirect body energy flow into shields or offensive force.
Bios: Aegis, though young is a strong and capable leader. Once a known hero his identity is still secret and little is known about his private life. He is normally assumed by the media to be older than he is due to both his experience and power. Though he has been keeping quiet, the media is starting to notice his return and speculation abounds about the formation of a new team of Vanguard.
While Archangel was the previous leader, as the only recurring member Aegis is of course assumed to be recruiting and the occasional photo in the papers of him entering the old tower has caused him to re-enter the limelight faster than he would have intended. Aegis has a strong sense of right and wrong as well as responsibility for his teammates, though previous disagreements with authorities have given him a rebellious streak and his headstrong nature means he never backs down from a fight, though if a new team is formed he will have to place their safety above his own.

Just bumping this thread for now and subscribing. I still don't quite have the full bio and name for my Champion fleshed out yet, but this group seems to match my ideals very closely.

It's about time I found a non-government group based on actually being a hero. I've been meaning to apply for a few days now, just didn't have the time to write up a bio/rp. Anways, here's the app:
Character Name: Aurorus (Real name unknown)
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Species: Second generation Metahuman.
Abilities: He has the ability to transform and control visible light into a form known as 'hard light', which turns any lightsource within visible range into a solid object. He uses this ability for both offensive and defensive purposes.
Bio:
Aurorus was born the son of two metahumans. His father had the ability to redirect airflow. His mother was able to create blinding flashes of light from thin-air, though usually involuntarily and mostly in moments of anger.
Neither of his parents ever thought of using their abilities for the sake of anyone. From an early age, Aurorus was told that metahuman powers would only get him killed. His father forbade him from ever using his abilities outside of their small suburban home. Secretly, however, Aurorus trained himself to use his abilities. Starting with knocking cans off of the back fence and eventually learning to solidify the light around his body to lift himself off of the ground.
When Dr Destroyer attacked Detroit, Aurorus decided that he couldn't just sit back and watch when he might be able to help.
Creating a makeshift mask out of an old scarf from his attic, he took to the air towards Detroit. Unfortunatly, he did not make it in time to do anything to stop the cities destruction. Instead, he began work with the search and rescue teams to find survivors.
From that moment on, he knew he was destined to become a hero.
Application RP:
A cold wind whipped the white cloak around behind the figure standing before the massive tower. Many times he had envisioned this moment but he still found himself unsure of what to do from here. It was a feeling that he was familiar with, uncertanty...
The white haired young man opened his palm, focusing some of his energy into a thin barrier against the freezing wind while he gathered his thoughts. It took only a moment.
"I cannot do this alone..."
Slowly, his feet lifted off of the ground and he floated towards the great door of the Guardtower. He knew that they would be able to hear him from within.
"Aegis." he paused for just a moment to take a deep breath. "My name is Aurorus. I'm here to speak with you about the Vanguard... I need your help."
The leather of his white glove squeeked softly as he tightened his fist.
This was it...
(Hm. This felt a bit longer when I was writing it. Hope it'll do for now.)

It's fine, and a mightily atmospheric application. Just to let you know that sometime in the next few days (I'm a very busy bunny right now, working 9-5 for two weeks + extra shifts at a part time job and packing to move into my university accommodation on the 9th september) I will be rewriting the Bio for Atlas and replacing the character with somebody new (due to the difficulty of simulating an earth powerset) Other than that, you're application is grand :)
I have a character concept in mind, but unfortunately it isn't quite the leader type so I'm going to have to get to work creating a new champion.
Edit: On a side note - Welcome, founding members of the fourth generation of the Vanguard!
May we stand fast against the darkest of nights.

Character Name: Silverlight (Jonathan Heraldson)
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Species: Human
Power Origin: Tech, Martial Training
Abilities: Wears a power suit (Not power armor... More of a light combat suit.) with coils running from his bracers to a light pack on his back. His primary ability is to fire extendable cables from these bracers, and exert a certain extent of mental control over them. This cables have the peculiar ability to attach to solid objects, be it a wall, trash can, or some unfortunate bad guy, without causing damage to the surface. They are still metal cables however, and capable of dealing substancial crushing damage when used as whips. His pack also hosts an army of nano-bots, allowing him to deal continuous damage to his enemies by commanding the nano-bots to directly attack his opponents, and perhaps most importantly, repair damage to his cables with nigh unexplainable swiftness. Silverlight is also armed with a pistol, and a light blade as secondary means of defense.
Bio:
The hero, now known as Silverlight, was once a simple nobody, living out his life performing odd jobs to make ends meet. He had no family... No real home... No future... What he did have however was an inextinguishable sense of justice. While he lacked any discernable talents, he never stinted on his effert to right any wrong he came across, often with varied, and occasionally unpleasant effects... His name was Jonathan Heraldson.
The extent of his endeavers reached their unfortunate peak upon a moonlit evening... While walking home to his apartment after a long day of picking up canine excrement in the park (No... You may not inquire further...) the cliched cries of an innocent in danger reached his ears. Lacking the common sense necissary to perform any other action, or the spare change required to make a call at the nearest pay phone to contact the police, the young man instead immediately rushed off toward the origin of these cries. Finding himself in a dark alley, he saw a young woman, beset by a down-and-out thug with a gun. In this tense moment, he knew that this was his chance... His one opportunity to finally stop being nobody... and become a hero!
...
...Fortunately, the superhero Phalanx showed up just in time to save the young woman, stop the bad guy, and drag Jonathan's bleeding body to the nearest hospital... Jonathan had a great deal of time to think about everything that had just transpired... and everything that hadn't... His life was going nowhere, and try as he might, he couldn't do anything to save an innocent... Granted, the other guy had a gun, and the hero who did stop him had a high tech powered armor suit, but that's all beside the point! It's the principle of the matter!
His prospects seemed beyond hope...
...However...
While sitting, in his hospital bed, eating Cheetohs, and watching a marathon of Pokemon on Cartoon Network (Sh-shut up!!!!) a visitor appeared in young Jonathan's room. Now, who could this man be, standing there in his nice jacket, slightly tipped hat, classy greyed hair, and fine suit? Jonathan had to wonder... and then it hit him...
"Ah... crud... You're here to break my legs because I don't have medical insurance, aren't you?"
The man looked at him, with an odd expression of surprise, and amusement. "No... No, I'm not... To get right to the point, you may call me, 'The Benefactor'."
So, that's it... That's how it all began. Turns out that this Benefactor was a rich guy with too much time on his hands. He provided Jonathan with light power suit, equipment, and a special implant in his brain to make it all work. Unfortunately, the old man was murdered before he could explain everything about how all this stuff worked. It's been several years since this began, and Silverlight has not only mastered the gift he had been given, but also become a competent and powerful superhero in his own right. Having matured greatly since his origins, he now stands ready to fight against evil and injustice wherever it can be found, though now-days, he manages to do it without having to worry about medical bills.
RP Application:
It was cold... Lately, it seemed like it was always cold... Silverlight propelled himself through the air, swinging from building to building before finally launching himself onto the roof of an appartment overlooking the outskirts of the city. You could see the contryside from here... Maybe that's why he liked it? While the streets of Millenium City may never truly sleep, the air seemed stagnant tonight... The world was dark, and even the moon failed to pierce the veil which now shrouded the city... War was coming... War, and a darkness unlike anything Silverlight had ever seen...
Just... Just keep walking... I have to remind myself... Put one foot in front of the other and keep on moving, no matter what... His hand idled to the hilt of his blade. It always felt... right, when he held it. Don't stop... And never... ever forget...
His mind was suddenly returned to his surroundings, as he caught a glimpse of a shadow. Silverlight turned with a start, a familiar click and metalic ringing signaling the release of his blade from it's sheath. A figure stood nearby... gazing out beyond the city, just as he had. But this was no enemy... No, the one before him... seemed... familiar...
"I didn't know anyone else came here," Silverlight said to the figure. Returning his blade to it's sheath he continued, "The sun will be rising soon, and all of this darkness will be washed away..." He stared out somberly toward the horizon. "But it'll be back... It always, comes back... The darkness..."
The figure stood silent... In fact, he did nothing to acknowledge Silverlight's presence, or his words...
In spite of this, Silverlight went on to say, "I know who you are... Atlas, right...?" Still there was no response. "I've read about you in the papers... Seems some people think, you're reforming that old team of yours... What was it? The Vanguard...?" Silverlight folded his arms, closing his eyes as he smiled. "The first defense... The first to confront the darkness..." He let out a slight laugh. "Sounds nice..."
The two of them stood there, on that roof for a long time. "Look, I know I don't have any right to be asking this... But..." Finally, Silverlight opened his eyes, and when he did he saw the light, reaching out from the horizon. It was brilliant... Truely a fantastic sight to behold. "...Do you need a light? ...To reach out... and help to confront the darkness?"
((I would just like to say... I'm terribly sorry about the length... I'm terrible at shortening long stories, and believe me, that bio is a concise version, to which I'm not really satisfied with how it came out due to it's edited length. By contrast, I really did enjoy the 'RP Application' part. Anyway, sorry again for the length, and thank you for the time.))

The wind was harsh, the night dark. Brooding alone on the Guardtower Aegis' thoughts were impenetrable. The rain drove hard against the thin layer of telekinetic force he had erected micrometers from his skin and he felt every slight impact as he expanded his awareness. Aegis didn't turn, the slight disturbance to his web of telekinetic strands having made him aware of the approach before he heard the footsteps. The wind howled ominously but that didn't stop the stranger talking. For a long time, Aegis had avoided conversations like this, avoided people... avoided the guilt of turning his back on the superhero community and the shame he felt at the loss of his team and yet, when the man stopped talking he couldn't help but wish for something to break the silence.
"How strange it seems, that others would seek reflection in this place..."
The silence resumed for a few seconds before he spoke again.
"The darkness? It was supposed to get better you know, the metahuman populace increases every day, more heroes by the week.
It always returns... for every light, a shadow, for every fight, a casualty... what light can stand against that?"
Softly, he felt the web tingle once more and closed his eyes as he felt a disturbance by the tower doors.
"We have a guest"
The eyes opened slowly, a slight glow piercing the dark eyelashes as he lowered himself over the edge of the precipice to confront the new visitor. He floated gently, descending towards the white clad figure. The computers in the tower had been down since Mainframe left, but the comms system still worked, and luckily Aegis had never discarded his earpiece.
"I hear you"
The deep voice reverberated like thunder as lightning illuminated the night, silhouetting the once renowned hero. His body shimmered like rippling waves of soft light as the raindrops bounced and the eyes of the two men locked steadily.
"I listen"

Character Name: Ares son of Zeus
Gender: Male
Age: Immortal
Species: Olympian
Power Origin: Telekinesis (And others as I decide on them)
Abilities: Telekinetic powers RPed as divine abilities.
Bio: Born to Zeus and watching the mortals from Olympus, the brooding and hot blooded Ares decided to lend his aid to the beings waging war against the mighty villains laying siege to Millennium City. His father warned him away, not wishing the gods of Olympus to become involved in the mortal's affairs. Always headstrong, Ares ignored his father, saying "Sit here and watch old man...but I will act!" Ares' love of war and battle, as well as the courage and valor of the warriors fighting the "war" below, naturally attracted him down from his perch among the clouds of Mt. Olympus.
Application: The bullet rang from the decorative helm's surface, jerking Ares' face sideways. He bared his teeth in a savage grin and turned back to face his opponent. He stepped in, turning in a full pivot, ramming his armored forearm into the thug's sternum. A quick sidestep followed, and the blood red haze of a shimmering blade severed the assailant's weapon. The thug's eyes widened as they met the hard eyes of the god of war. "Tch!" Ares scoffed, slamming his helmeted head into the thugs face, and watching in contempt as he collapsed nerveless at the god's sandaled feet. "Such a waste of time..." Ares breathed gutterally, and raised his eyes to the skyline. A tower, his destination. To meet with the mortal who bore the name of the ancient Titan....Atlas. Nodding to himself, he strode onward, wary as ever for further attackers. This place was rife with scum. Yes, these mortals would need his aid, and he was more than content to lend it.

((i'd love to join you guys really looking for a good rp SG, i'll post my bio under this but just some insight that i played CoX at release, was a big fan of it and have played D&D and other pen and paper games(though never got to play champions but certainly on my to do list now) and have rp'd since i was a teen(wow was that a long time ago!) i am pretty serious with character IC but i dont mind OOC at all and am prone to it =D ))
Name: Reizama
Description: reizama is a very small and slender creature, and that is best way to describe him, only about 5'2" tall at best, and its skin is as white as snow, with a strange blue pattern accross it. Though appearing like a devilish creature or demonic being of some sort, with flowing horns from his head, slit eyes, and giant bat wings upon his back many get wrong idea about this strange being. His deep violet eyes, and stern glare always focusing on those around him, and even his strange feral nature at times can draw stares.
Personality: Reizama is a strange creature but, though sometimes appearing a bit feral, and often seeming cold in his personality, he tries to do the right thing. He makes mistakes like anyone else, and is very ruthless individual, and a bit wreckless do to his young age. his heart however is always in the right place, and he tries very hard to change people's opinions about him based on his appearance. Reizama is prone to one disability and that is fits of near insanity during emotional situations, when pressed with a traumatic experience Reizama devolves into what can only be described as a devilish persona, caring only to punish those that caused him such turmoil, this insanity is short lived and usually causes him guilt and regret after and is key reason he tries very hard to keep his emotions in check.
Powers: Reizama has an innate resistance to cold, and can control and both the temperature around him, and create and condense water from the air. This allows him to create snow, ice and multiple effects involving ice. however this also gives him a very difficult time in hot climets where, his body doesn't adjust well, and is little water in air to manipulate, and prolonged exposure can cause his body to start to shut down, this is only from extream heats such as 90-110 degree or more weather. In these situations he can avert the effects by focusing his powers sheerly on sustaining his body temperature but doing so, takes all his focus and prevents normal use of his powers.
Origin: much of reizama's past is shrouded in mystery, not even he himself is sure where he came from, what he does know is that he and his twin brother both given into the care of a young couple. These humans were mystics and were suppose to raise boys with care. However, the boys grew much faster then humans do, though ageing seemed to slow once hit physical age of around 8, though intelligence were very violant children and difficult to control. At phsyical age of 9 boys decided to flee home, sick of rules of there parents this is a time reizama tries to forget...it was a time he did many great evil acts, and even more vile deeds.
Reizama and his brother existed for one thing, to indulge in there own fun, and games often this ment torture or pain of others. For a time reizama believed was the way of life, it was fun so why shouldn't they? was not untill boys were 12 years of age that they returned home to see there parents...only to find that they had been murdered. Tortured, inflicted pain upon, a long gruesome death that they had indured and, the cause? some one was looking for them... some one dark and malevolent. This being had killed there parents and though Reizama had abandoned them for his own childish ways, he still felt a sense of... needing them he shed a tear for first time in his life. His twin? found it funny and humorous... Reizama did not take kindly to this and he and his twin had first true fight! Reizama was disowned by his twin, claiming he was not what he was born to be! and the two parted ways forever more...
Reizama traveled globe after that, trying to find a place to belong, he began to consider things of his past and realized he was not doing good things. Scounging for food, Reizama would witness a crime his first he ever took notice of, a simple mugging what did he care? but when he saw the knife other hold he simply reacted... was Reizama's first act of kindness...and after though female screamed and ran as he held corpse of the mugger, he realized that he had saved her... and that placed a sense of justice in his mind. He had power to change things, to make things right, since that day he has traveled the world trying to make sense of his own existence, his powers growing day in and day out.
Reizama now wanders the streets of millennium city, a place he heard accepted all sorts of super powered individuals, he hoped here in this city he could find acceptance and maybe a few answers to his own existence... and maybe just maybe... make amends for his own crimes against humanity.

(( A very interesting looking SG! I am looking for an RP one, but can't say if it's the place for my main... so I'll apply and leave it to go from there :) ))
Character: Knight of Zephyrus (Real name not freely used)
Gender: Male
Age: 30
Species: Otherworldly
Abilities: Swordsmanship and physical capabilities, advanced suit of armor, 'acquired' control over dark energies.
Bio:
One of many Knights from the Kingdom of Zephyr, this particular Knight serves his King by journeying away from his homeworld to explore other lands and lend his aid to the deserving that he encounters. His unique powers over darkness, a difference among his race that he doesn't clarify, and his willingness to volunteer for the journey set him on his path... one which has recently landed him in the impressive Millennium City.
Previously, Knight (as people tend to shorten his title) landed himself amidst other heroes in a place not far away, Paragon City, and his time with The Time Guardians while there helped to enlighten him regarding the people of Earth, but his journey led him onward once again with the call for help from Millennium City. Now he searches for others like himself: those with a purpose, and who do what is needed merely because it needs doing.
(( Oh... and it's Zephyrus only because 'Zephyr' is apparently an entirely restricted word and I didn't feel like waiting to see if that'd change... evil Cryptic XD ))

(( This is still not set in stone and a lot might change. Plus I've never been in a RP group, but have played City of Heroes. I have a Lifetime and plan to play as long as possible.))
Name: Iron Phantom (Real name unknown)
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Species: Presumably Human
Abilities: Force energy that he can discharge from his hands at anytime. The energy also enhances his strength and allows him to fly.
Bio: I know nothing of my origins or who I really am. My earliest memory is waking up in a cylinder full of a strange chemical. I broke out and fought my way to freedom against scientist and unknown assailants. A few months later I was contacted by Defender and asked to help him with fighting the Qularr. He helped me assemble a suit with iron armor plates. After fighting off the Qularr I knew I could protect people while discovering my past and ultimately what was done to me.

(( I've already friended you Astar, so you should get my request. ))
Character Name: Revolutionary (Leon Molisander)
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Species: Human
Abilities: Psionic energy flows through his body, providing a source of power for energy attacks for both long and short range, and for mending the wounds of himself and others.
Bio:
Born to a suburban east coast family, Leon Molisander had always been shy and withdrawn, even in his more mature years. He found solace in books and knowledge rather than competitive sports or extracurricular activities. Since his days at school, he'd started to realize that he had minority opinions - that he was generally unhappy about the state of humanity. The more he dwelled on it, the more it disappointed him. After all, what was one bookish guy in his mid-twenties going to do?
He'd always known about the Champions and their cause. He may not have worshipped and idolized them like many others, but he always wished he could do something like that to make a difference. He had witnessed the destruction of Detroit and was devastated. Over 60,000 people dead, the city virtually wiped out. Such a catastrophic loss of human life, thanks to the megalomaniac Dr. Destroyer. Years passed and he began to grow bitter - until the accident.
As he was driving home one day an eighteen-wheeler ran a red light and absolutely destroyed his hatchback. Right as the truck collided and obliterated his car, he felt a sensation not unlike a dream - his mind began to seemingly rewind, pulling him back away from the accident, away from the truck and the car, and landed him right in the street. When he shook off the feeling, he realized that he was looking at the twisted remains of his car and a flannel-wearing trucker running over to it to see if anyone was still alive. He looked at his hands, felt his body (which was all there)...what had just happened?
It turned out that his latent psionic abilities had finally broken through. At such a relatively advanced age and during such an adrenaline-fueled moment, they made drastic changes to his physiology. Throughout his body now flowed both blood and psionic energy, causing a faint blue glow along his veins. As he began to come to grips with his newfound abilities, he devised a suit (with the help of an expert tailor friend of his) which was able to contain the glow to only a few places - but was sadly unable to eliminate the intense glow of his now completely-blue eyes.
Leon jumped at the chance to finally join the ranks of superpowered heroes, and immediately joined the Civil Service in its Champions program. The initial excitement soon wore off, however, as the nature of government work and bureaucracy clashed with his ideals. One day he finally quit, and decided to set off on his own, calling himself the Revolutionary and wrapping a Gadsden flag around his neck as a scarf, proudly defending the ideals of liberty, independence, personal freedom, and peace from ANY oppressive power.
Application:
He knew that to be a lone Champion was to set oneself up for failure. This wouldn't do - but there was no way he was subjecting himself to the government again. He wouldn't be some politician's pet superhero. Not again.
He'd read about the Vanguard in the media and had heard about them from people "in the know." Non-governmental. Dedicated to peace. His kind of people.
Leon approached the tower with confidence. Aegis would be there - all of the supergroups were actively recruiting, what with the very real risk of Dr. Destroyer coming into power once again. He approached the doors but didn't go inside. He had a feeling he should wait here.
"Aegis. Let me join you." There was nobody in sight, but he knew he'd hear.

This sounds exactly what I'm looking for.
Severent
Real Name: Lyfera
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Species: Half-Human, Half-Lykin
Powers: His half Lykin side enables him to tap into other realms, and also grants his body great physical strength and dexterity, along with the ability to regenerate wounds at incredible speeds. Due to training via a virtual reality program, he has to ability to use blades with deadly effectiveness. He is also a capable scientist.
Bio: Born to a pack of wild Lykins, Lyfera was a natural outcast to society. His family roamed the midwest, and were constantly avoiding the hunters sent by humans who had reported seeing a pack of monsters.
They occasionally had to fight these hunters, and they always arose the victors. However, these victories were not without consequence.
By the time Lyfera had been born, few remained, and those that were still alive did not have pure Lykin blood.
His life as a wild beast was short, as human civilization was growing rapidly and avoiding the humans was difficult for the Lykins, who eventually ventured too close to a human town, where the humans hired a metahuman mercenary who called himself 'The Devourer'.
He slaughtered everyone but Lyfera, who he took to one of his contacts, selling him to this man.
His contact was a scientist and fortunately for Lyfera, his original intentions of creating an injectable mutagen from Lyfera's body faded, instead raising Lyfera as if he were his own child.
This man's name was John Emmith.
This new found life was prosperous. John acted as both a mentor and a father, teaching Lyfera how to properly socialize with the world. (It's still hard for Lyfera to speak, because of his previous, barbaric ways of communicating) John also taught him both the basics and advanced principles of scientific research, and during Lyfera's teenage years, he even taught him how to defend himself via a virtual reality program.
Lyfera had a very curious nature, and due to this, he would constantly sneak into the library John forbid him to go into. This is where he stumbled on a Bible. He read this and always kept it close. Due to this, his original careless attitude was formed into a kind and morally adept one .
Lyfera was always John's secret, and this secret was easily kept due to the massive estate John owned. (Where he had originally lived alone) This estate was located in Michigan.
During the course of his stay with John, Lyfera watched in awe as Millennium City rose from the ashes of a shattered Detroit.
This inspired Lyfera's hope in humanity, despite the murder of his previous family.
Through constant visits to the forbidden library, he read more and more about old and (semi)new heroes. These heroes inspired him, and sparked a desire to serve a great purpose.
When he told John of this desire, it sent his adopted father into tears. He confessed to Lyfera that he had his family killed so he could capture him and use his body to create a mutagen that he could sell to wanna be heroes.
Seeing that he was no longer such a wicked man, Lyfera forgave him, and even asked John to help him create tools that he could use to fight with. John was ecstatic about this, and eagerly accepted.
During their research of old and new weaponry, Lyfera found that he fancied medieval weapons and armor the best.
Adapting this design, they created a blade made of silver (an ironic twist) and coated it with some of Lyfera's mutagen, giving it an eerie red glow, and enabling Lyfera to more easily delve into supernatural realms, a task which before, was nearly impossible.
They then created Lyfera's armor, which was made up of an old suit of unfinished power armor that John had been working on for a hero named Bliss, whom had died in the battle against Doctor Destroyer in Detroit.
Since the power armor didn't fit Lyfera well, they had to scrap a large majority of it, thus only covering pieces of his body. To counter this, they created a suit he could wear beneath the armor.
This suit was chain mail that had been used for a decoration in the estate. They coated the suit in Lyfera's mutagen, like they did with the blade, giving Lyfera more access to the supernatural, but surprisingly, also hardening it.
Lastly, Lyfera, using his new weapons, created supernatural chains he could use against any of his adversaries, wrapping them around parts of his body left uncovered by his armor. (It literally took years for them to create Lyfera's equipment)
When they were finally finished, Lyfera said his farewells to John, and left for the newly constructed Millennium City, where he was caught in a Qularr invasion, and eventually proved himself to be a competent hero. After many heroic deeds, he began to realize he would not be able to work alone for much longer.
RP application: Lyfera was starting to notice the media's slight attraction to a defender named 'Aegis' and the speculation of the recurrence of an old group of heroes, the Vanguard. Lyfera instantly recognized this group as one whom tried to save Detroit from Doctor Destroyer.
Following the trail of the media led Lyfera to an old tower, where apparently the last known member of the group resided. The half-man approached it, unsure of what to expect...

Aegis worked alone in the tower, modifying his suit with the limited equipment that was online without Mainframe to power and operate it. His encounter last night with the two heroes probably hadn't gone as well as they'd hoped, his melancholy nature that had suffocated his own ambition for the last two years permeating the conversation. They'd spoke of many things, heroes, villains, the ordinary people who lived day to day in the shadow of superpowered titans and how they must resent those who could kill them with a whisper, a thought, a gesture... even of the Vanguard - this was the hardest for Aegis.
Even those that protected them were "superior" in a way.
The light from the soldering iron flickered as he tapped it against the internal wiring of his helmet, the golden glow reflecting off the silver alloy and Aegis felt something he hadn't felt in two long years, contentment. He was a hero again!
He wasn't some two-bit kid fighting muggers on the street, he was an idol, a beacon for others and an example to the masses, Aegis was back andheroes were flocking to his banner, perhaps the Vanguard should be reformed after all.
Crackling like a distant storm, the comms system spoke up as it detected the proximity of a body by the door.
"Aegis... let me join you"
The voice was male, a mature man if not yet middle-aged and Aegis responded deftly to the basic computer program he had constructed to operate what parts of the tower Mainframe hadn't locked down when he left.
"Open doors"
He had little doubt that the man at the door would enter, but whether he would find the Champion in the workshop was another matter. Putting down the soldering iron and flash cooling the helmet before donning it, Aegis proceeded to the lobby to greet his guest.
{{I'm perfectly happy with everyone so far :)

Character Name: Mortis Von Lipwig, Lipwig to company officials/property owners.
Actual/Past Name: Mortimer Von Lipwig; "Rigor" Mortis
Gender: Male
Age: 28 Years (Human) / 3 Years (Cyborg)
Species: Cybernetic Humanoid/Robot
Abilities: Slightly-enhanced strength, precision-hearing and sight, advanced arms-wielding abilities.
Bio:
A British spy, worshipped by his friends and feared by his enemies, a firearms master, departed on a mission he would not return from. After a vicious ambush, authorities found the corpse of the man washed up upon the banks of the River Thames.
It wasn't long before they'd taken the poor, eviscerated agent back to headquarters. Already working on him, they replaced what wasn't entirely destroyed with a Questionite-enforced alloy, making both arms, one leg, both feet, and even his head entirely robotic.
Superior gunmanship now advanced by cybernetic technology, feats can include the clipping of a ladybug's wings with a 10mm round (at a distance of one mile), shooting through both sides of a crystal wineglass without shattering it, and doing a decent Stephen Hawking impression.
His brain, not entirely destroyed despite the oxygen deprevation, was placed inside the metal shell, and programmed to be the most ruthless and effective robotic assassin possible. Still working on the side of good, he no longer tries to uncover secrets and foil villains; he executes them instead.
"Primary designation; Delete. Eliminate. Exterminate."
RP Application:
"You understand your objective, correct, Lipwig?" The scientist queried the cyborg, still tightening screws where needed. "Yes." He responded, unmoving. "I am to report to The Guardtower." The scientist nodded, moving away with the screwdriver to view the robot's status, all signs were normal. If he was indeed chosen by The Vanguard, he'd need to have a word with the leader about installing one of these stations within their headquarters.
"I am to offer my services to them. I am to become one of The Vanguard. My objective is to become a recognized superhero." Another nod from the scientist. "Yes. Exactly. You will approach their leader, Aegis. If he deems you suitable, you will be accepted as one of The Vanguard heroes."
"And if I am deemed unsuitable?" He asked, his synthesized voice showing no signs of fear. It was a question of curiosity, not worry. "Then you will return here and return to your former duties. Is this understood?" The robot nodded, looking forwards. "Affirmative."
Having been switched off the entire time, Lipwig was unsure how long it had been since they had left, only being switched back on as they came to land. "Destination; The Guardtower. Confirmed. Approaching." Hopefully the owners of the land wouldn't mind the small crater his impact had left; having been dropped from a height, landing quite gracefully, despite the large indentation he'd created. Being reinforced with Questionite was fortunate, it kept him from crumpling quite so easily, even if it wasn't a pure substance.
Nevertheless, he stood, and slowly approached his target; the Guardtower. It would be quite a walk, their calculations had been off by a mile, though it wasn't as though he was in any rush. He noticed the outline of another being in the distance, standing outside the doors of the building. It appeared as though he was not the only one looking for entry to the organisation.
"Oh well," his programming dictated; "I'll be there in approximately 49 minutes, 22 seconds and 0.48 nanoseconds."
(Sounds perfect! I wanted to find a good RP SG, and this sounds like fun. My bio was originally longer, but bloated, and more or less an entire backstory, so I cut it down to the important stuff. Hope my RP introduction is alright.)

((Oh! Oh! I call next!))
Character Name: Built For Brutality
Real Name: Dominique Desang
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Species: Metahuman! *flex*
Abilities: Dom was born with the innate ability to summon great amounts of strength at will. However, his strength is also linked to his emotions; specifically rage. Taking this, and the fact that his body chemistry has mutated so that his rage is constantly "building", it wouldn't be hard to classify him as a berserker. He has also received extensive martial arts training throughout his life, and is a master of Hapkido.
Bio:
Dom was born into a statistically common family in his neighborhood. Born on the south side of Chicago, it was no surprise that he never knew his father, and that his mother was a hardcore drug addict. Yet, instead of growing up and becoming another super powered thug on the streets, fate intervened when at the tender age of four his mother sent him off to live with his grandmother in the west side of Millennium City, to hopefully find a better life.
His grandmother was a no nonsense type of woman, and seeing a failure in her daughter, she vowed to raise the young Dominique right. This promise soon seemed impossible when young Dominique's powers surfaced, however his grandmother had an answer.
Dr. Yu was an expert martial artist, and an unsettling calm man. Which was just what Dom needed. Through Dr. Yu, who had taught other super powered heroes in the Detroit area, Dom learned to tame and focus his rage, control his amazing strength, and to seek to help not harm.
When Dom hit his late teenage years it didn't take him long to finally give in to his great want to help others, and he soon began patrolling the west side. This, he told himself, was his home. These were his people, and they needed a helping hand. Albeit a huge one.
Application RP:
Dom stood tall on the roof top which gave him a great vantage point of the area before him. Years of super hero work had trained his eyes to see what should be hidden. A mugging here. A rapist following his next victim. Drug deals, posted across several blocks and corners.
"Going to be a long night," said Dom.
A sudden flash of light caught Dom's eye, and focusing on it he saw something unexpected: A hero dispatching a random group of purple attired thugs.
"Hmm... No one usually comes out this far," Dom thought as he watched the hero carefully. Somehow, he felt he recognized this hero.
Either way, it was rare for a person to travel through this side, and Dom's curiosity was peaked.
Taking a couple of steps back from the ledge, Dom got a running start before leaping into the air. He soared with a grace improper for a man his size, and landed on the street. He walked towards the helmet-wearing hero, who had just blasted a purple henchmen senseless.
"Nice work," said Dom, tilting his head as the hero faced him. Suddenly, Dom recognized the hero. The images and newspaper articles swirled in his head as he realized who was before him.
"Well ain't this a trip," muttered Dom. "You're walking around again. Hell, and in my neighborhood. I knew I woke up on the right side of the bed today."
Dom offered his right hand, "The streets call me Built For Brutality. You can call me Dom. I think we're going to be good friends, Aegis."
((Woop woop! *does a little jig*))

// Looks like the kind of team BlindShot would take a bullet for ;)
My turn now... and sorry in advance for the long Bio hehehe//
Hero Alias: BlindShot
Real Name: Unknown
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Species: Human
Bio:
BlindShot once had a name, a family, a very normal life... But that was before the "Detroit Disaster", as some news broadcasters named it, took his young wife, his vision and all his memories...
The touch of sand to his face and the scorching heat made him realize he was been dragged by someone in the middle of the desert, that was the last thing BlindShot felt before falling unconscious again only to be awaken in an even wierder place. A small shack somewhere near White Sands.
An old man's voice called up on him "Finally you're awake!"
Memoryless, scared, and above all BLIND. Our nameless Hero yelled, rampaged and cried before taking his time to listen to the old man, and that was the beggining of a partnership. The old man was a retired hero formerly known as "PowderKeg" who speciallized in guns of all kinds and retired to the desert after his 2 sons were brutally murdered by one of Dr. Destroyer's Generals.
The old man told him what had happened in Detroit. A story of how, looking through the thick dusty air of Detroit's remains, he saw Dr. Destroyer's puppets carrying BlindShot after injecting him with some kind of serum (one that Keg was very familiar with). A tear rolled down his cheek under the improvised blindfold even though he didn't remember that it was because he witnessed his wife's death.... PowderKeg saw a lot of his sons in BlindShot and decided to help the young man survive his new condition.
Powder noticed BlindShot had a tremendous potential (because of his now overenhanced senses due to Dr. Destroyer's Serum he knew was used to "create" Super Generals) and a tastefor guns.. so he decided to pass on to him all the knowledge he got from years of practice.
Not long afterwards, BlindShot surpassed his menthor and became the "perfect shot hero", one who isn't fooled by ilusions, invisibility or superspeed...
PowderKeg was old... and on his deathbed he shared his darkest secret with BlindShot. One of his two sons was effectively turned into one of Dr. Destroyers Generals... the same General that had cost him his Vision and his Life... Since then, BlindShot devoted himself and his abilities to protect others from the fate he would've had if PowderKeg hadn't been there to stop his own son. And as a promisse to his late friend, he'll try everything to find PowderKeg's son among the other generals and bring him back to his senses.
He'll listen to your every breath, feel your fears and respond to your every move. In the end, where all others failed, HE WILL put a bullet between your eyes.
Cause like himself... Lady Justice is also blind... and her aim also flawless.
---------------------------------------------
RP Application:
End of the afternoon... Criminals rising with nightfall... As Aegis stepped out of the partially activated Avenger Tower a voice called him.
Hey... are you the one they call Aegis? The golden avenger?
The voice belonged to a moderately tall man with a scruffy beard and a ragged dusty brown overcoat. As this man took out his old looking hat, a dark red blindfold called Aegis' attention.
You can call me BlindShot - he firmly said, facing the sunset, away from Aegis.
I'm here to offer and ask for help... cause I recognize that I'm way too small to take what I have to do into my own hands... and come to think of it... I know that's a little how you feel... how every "super" feels during these mad dog days... alone... and powerless... - Saying that, BlindShot threw to Aegis a "wrist watch looking" device with dry blood stains, dust all over it and an outdated symbol.
That was PowderKeg's "Avenger emergency communicator"... It was given to him by one the founding members of your team.. this Archangel friend of his back in the day... old Powder said I could get the help I needed from you...
I owe Powder my life... theres one last favor I need to pay him...
I'm gonna turn the curse that was given to me against It's creator...
I'm going after Destroyer...
Feeling the afternoon heat leaving his skin to give place to night's cold embrace... BlindShot stood there... spinning his red grip revolvers as he waited for an answer while Aegis stared at the weary communication device... aged... decayed... like everyone's "hope of a normal life"... the hope BlindShot was so willingly devoted to defend and renew....

((I was guessing there had to be some RPers on here somewhere :) ))
Hero Alias: Urban Mage
Real Name: Alexi Popovich
Gender: Female
Age: 28
Species: Human
Bio:
Alexi hails from a long tradition of witches and warlocks from mother Russia. As a young girl Alexi worked with her mother, a powerful witch, to help citizens in her home of Saint Petersburg. There the ghosts from wars past lay thick and the supernatural was all to quick to percolate to the surface, allowing her to develop her talents to the fullest.
She became known in Russian as: Gorodskoj Volshebnik, or Urban Mage for the work she did. The turmoil in the realms of the living reflected on the millions that died in World War II and she was often called to defend people against angry spirits and walking dead. If that wasn't enough to keep her more than busy, militants, the Russian mob, and others seemed to want to tax the people beyond what they could bear.
For all that she did, one being, simply known as the Reichsmarshal would not say dead. His spirit gained enough sentience that his physical manifestation became more and more pronounced. They battled not only through Saint Petersburg, but across the country. With the help of her mother, she tracked down the Reichmarshal's grave and exorcised it.
Assuming that all was well, she went back to being a simple witch. Helping with midwifing, recommending herbal cures, and trying her best to settle into some kind of life. It didn't take long before trouble found her. Tales of an ancient ghost reached her from the shores of America; a ghost looking for vengeance. It seemed the Reichsmarshal was not so easily dispelled.
How he came to America is still unknown to her. However, she has vowed to put his spirit to rest. As she tracked him to Millennium City, she realized how difficult this would be. She was in a new city, in a foreign country and out of her element. It was time to find allies. Her own goals could wait for now.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alexi wandered through the troubled west side. She was cold, hungry and more than a little put out. Three days ago, she had been more than happy tending her small store and lending mystical assistance where needed. That was before she started this wild goose chase to track down the Reichsmarshal. While she knew she was doing the right thing, she mentally berated herself for assuming this would be anything other than a long and difficult task.
She stopped at a decrepit hotel, which was about all she could afford, and entered into the decaying lobby. While much of the city had been rebuilt after the invasion, there were parts, such as this which still dated back to a much earlier time.
"What'cha need honey?"
"Am looking for room. Tonight only if it pleases you."
"Oh, I'll tell you what pleases..." the guy behind the counter started. He never finished the sentence as four purple clad goons smashed through the front door.
"Time to get scarce!" one of them called out.
Alexi gathered her power to herself and the battle was on. She had only vague memories of what happened later other than talking with a police chief who thanked her for the assistance. He had recommended a group that she might find helpful, Vanguard. It was a powerful name and one that rang true with her. She would seek this heroes out. Perhaps she could offer them her talents and in turn, they could help her. It certainly would beat places like this...

Alter-Ego: Superconductor
Real Name: Jonas Williams.
Age: 31
Gender: Human Male
Ability: Electrical Manipulation.
BIO: Jonas was a very clever child, partly due to natural ability, partly due to pressure from his parents to do well at school. Emphasis on study mad Jonas a social outcast at a young age, and because of this, found himslef to often be the victim of bullies, both at school and at home. His father hit him, and later in life, his mother turned to drink, but he found an escape when he was accepted into Oxford Univirsity in England. Unfortunately for Jonas, his obsession branched into a more focused area; science, and he became truely fascinated with Physics. This would later become his chosen path of study.
Jonas was skinny, spotty, and wore glasses, all ammo for the harrassing students and thin lipped lectureres at Oxford. Locking himself away from the world in his dormitory, Jonas would study hard, and obtained a 1st Degree, with honours, in Aerospace Systems Engineering. At the age of 22, it was not happy to be thrust outside into the big wide world and so took up another course in Astro Physics and Electronic Engineering at Oxfords arch rival university Cambridge. Jonas had a much happier time here, although he still was outcast from the other students. They would drink to obsession, whilst Jonas would rather read or experiment in the university laboratories. Again, Jonas earned a top degree, and in a record 2 years study, and was soon offered a place to lecture at Cambridge, which he gladly accepted.
His harsh life and obsessive study came at a price however.
At the age of 26, Jonas was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, a shock to him and the tutoring circles at Cambridge. He took medication to combat it, and it seemed to work, so he was allowed to continue tutoring at the college. What the dean did not know, was that his mental illness and concoction of drugs had turned him into even more of a manic obsessive, and he began his own methods of research using Cambridge University's own labs and equipment. Jonas was successful, for he had managed to amalgamate three superconductors into one precious alloy. He managed to merge Titanium, Platinum and Mercury, an alloy which maitained the liquid properties of Mercury. With this Jonas was able to apply the alloy to his bikers leather, which both create fantastic armour and, as he was to discover later, tremendous conducting powers. It was through this, and experimenting with Van De Graaf generators, that Jonas was able to manipulate streams of electricity, which later would be embedded into his design for a new outfit. Using his Aerospace experience, Jonas also added rocket boots to his suit, granting him the ability, albeit an unsteady one, of flight. The super, yet unstable Hero, Superconductor, was born.
Evil would now fear the skinny kid, Jonas Williams!
...The bitter wind howled across the frozen plains of northern Canada, Jonas' MKIII Prototype Conductor Suit channeling enough electricity to keep him barely moving. It was times like this that he cursed leaving the comfort of England behind him, and a raging anger burned in his stomach as he recalled the cruel fate that betrayed him and his work.
"Can I ever trust an Organisation again?" He hissed to himself as he struggled to walk into the strong gale. "Always sell me out. I should be rich, dammit. I should have my home in Cheshire raising children and looking after a beautiful wife. Now i am here, a desolate, icey vista of nothingness. And it is damn cold too!"
Jonas wrapped his cloak around his shivering frame, although it did little good. He felt the sharp pang prod the back of his skull, reminding him it was time for his medicine. He fumbled into his belt pouch and withdrew the container. He shook it and the contents rattled inside. It did not sound promising.
"Damn! Two left..." he cursed as he shook the contents into the palm of his gauntlet and swallowed them quickly, discarding the now empty pot to the frozen floor.
"I have to get to these so called "heroes". I dont have much time..."
Jonas pressed on until finally he reached the destination of Steelhead Base and Barracks.
"If there is a god," He muttered to the heavens, "Then cheers pal, ill have a drink on you!"
Jonas had made it, his circuitry was beginning to fail due to the immense sub zero temperatures, and he was sure frostbite had gotten into his toes. Hell, he would worry about this later. The hidings he had from his father hurt like hell, so this felt more like a kiss from his mother.
"Citizen!" Shouted a PRIMUS soldier of the noisesome howl of the wind. "Who goes there?"
Jonas raised a hand to shield his eyes from the shards of ice the wind tossed up into his face. His mask now had icicles hanging from various points, and his respirator was all but frozen solid.
"I need to get to Millenium City! Today!" He shouted at the soldier.
"Not from these parts huh? Where you from stranger, Australia?"
"No, England! ENGLAND!" He almost screamed. All non British always said he was from Australia. Jonas hated that.
"England, Huh? Very nice. Now, jump on the shuttle over there, USV Hamilton! It departs in an hour!"
Jonas gave a wave of thanks and looked over to the behemoth behind the soldier. Lines of people scurried up the loading ramp to board the vessel, and Jonas wasted no time following them. Soon, the noise from the moaning gale died down and Jonas sighed in relief as the sensation reurned to his fingers and toes. The warmth of the Hamilton was very welcoming. He stamped his feet several times to remove the excess snow and turned into the galley and through into the passenger quarters.
"Good Afternoon Sir. Please take a seat and if there is anyhting you require, please do not hesitate to buzz. Please be aware, incase of low pressure, oxygen masks will fall from a compartment above your head and there is also a life jacket under neath your seat. Please enjoy your flight, and thanks for flying Air Canada". Said a stewardess.
"As if i have a choice of airline these days." Grumbled Jonas, but he withheld somewhat, for she was a very pretty lady, and Jonas liked pretty ladies.
Jonas continued down the aisle until he cam to his seat, 28E. He slumped down, exhausted and drained, but happy.
Jonas then reached into his belt pouch again and removed a crumpled and damp pice of paper with hasty writing scrawled upon it. Three words:
Aegis,
Millenium City.
Jonas stared at it for a while and grunted.
"I've heard you need help, Aegis." He grunted to himself. "But I hope you are willing to help me."
And thats it, thats my app. I play sporadic play times, usually late at night or late afternoon and my timezone is GMT. Ta ta for now.

Character Name: Origin (Marcus Harringale)
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Species: Human
Power Origin: Sorcery, Divine
Abilities: Magic, summoning, blessings, protection
Bio:
Marcus Harringale led a comfortable, unremarkable life until he was seventeen. The Harringale family was a wealthy, old-money family of England with comfortable estates and a household staff, and Marcus was privileged, if not grateful, to attend the finest boarding schools money could buy. Aged seventeen that changed, however, when he explored some of the unused rooms in the heights of the mansion, and discovered a large book bound in aged leather. Within was the secret history of the Harringales - a legacy of sorcery and magic stretching back a thousand years or more, and the reason for their wealth. Marcus was the latest in a long line of mages, and the discovery of the book unlocked the powers within. Unlike his predecessors however, Marcus's newfound powers did not lie in the dark arts or the manipulation of the mind, instead being drawning on the power of the Light - enough so that as his strength grew, he began to manifest angelic features, culminating in beautiful wings.
The manifestation of the wings however was the final sign to his family that Marcus would not be following in their footsteps, and knowing what was to come, Marcus fled to America, to the new Millenium City, a place where he had heard other powerful individuals gathered. He took the name Origin in homage to his own past and the source of his personal power, and set out to cleanse himself of the implied taint of his ancestors.
RP Application:
So it was here, after all. The Guardtower of the Vanguard. Marcus alighted with a rustling of feathers on an outcrop, and settled into a crouch to watch for signs of life. He had heard that the Vanguard were no more, but surely such a group could not be so easily defeated? And in these strange times, they were needed more than ever. Perhaps he could help with that. Perhaps his powers could help.
Whispering a quiet prayer to the Light, he dropped down from the outcrop, dusted himself off, and set off towards to the gateway. When he reached the door, he banged his fist against it in salutation, and waited for an answer. If anyone was home, they would be watching - this place was a bastion - it was impossible that they had not noticed the brilliant white of his outfit and wings. "Greetings!" he called, "My name is Origin - I have come to help!"

I still have to get the game but it only comes out on the 4th of september here, me being a European and all. Anyways the SG appealed to me so I will make an attempt at applying. I failed to see how to do it correctly so I am hoping posing a bio of some sorts will do the trick:
Character name: Egypt (Chael-mon Ra)
Age: Unknown
Species: Human (?)
Power Origin: Darkness, supernatural
Abilities: Manipulate life, dark magic, self regeneration
Many years ago in ancient Egypt Chael-mon Ra was a priest to Anubis, god of the afterlife. For many years has he served Anubis and he has achieved one of the highest ranks among the priests of Anubis. He served Anubis at the largest temple preparing everyone for the afterlife. Anubis was pleased with his efforts and granted him a gift: the book of the dead. This book contained many incantations, potions and rituals enabling the ability to prolong life or to end it abruptly and to call upon the dead or to aid the lost to find their way to the afterlife.
Unfortunately Chael-mon was not immune to the tempation of power. He studied the book until he needed it no longer and knew everything by heart. He altered spells, changed rituals and used it to benefit himself. At first it was so he could do more to help the people. But slowly it was to help himself. His servants saw this. When his servants confronted him with his obsession for power he glared at them. His five most loyal servants standing in a semi-circle before him. Pleading, begging Chael-mon to cease his endless quest for more power. Their pleads failed. Instead they made him angry. Chael-mon glared at them, each and single one and raised his hands with his palm open facing the ground. With a swift spin he turned his palm upwards and the servants followed the movement. Floating slightly in the air, their eyes filled with fear. Chael-mon grinned as he blew dark dust into his hand. The dust spread towards the servants and soon the buzzing of insects echoed through the small chamber. The dark dust, no longer dust but small scarabs, tore away the flesh of his servants. Within a few seconds the scarabs dispersed into dust and vanished. Nothing but a few humps of half eaten corpses remained. Chael-mon then breathed in heavily causing a cloud of dim light to leave the corpses, the souls of the dead servants. They left their bodies and went into Chael-com. He would not have them tell Anubis of his act.
Chael-mon was blinded by his power. Anubis knew. Anubis was aware. Anubis was furious. As Chael-mon was about to leave the chamber two large beings appeared behind him. Dark skin with short hair and the heads of a jackal. The one spoke: "You have angered Anubis high priest. You serve him no longer and he therefore serves you no longer either". With that he grabbed Chael-mons throat. As Chael-mon tried to scream bundles of light raced out of his mouth. The souls of the servants left his body. The creature let him go as the other stepped towards him and whispered words into his ear. Chael-mon felt instantly weak, unable to do anything and he fell to the floor though still conscious. The creatures picked him up and tossed him into a sarcophagus. One of them spoke to him: "Anubis denies you acces to the afterlife. For eternity will you be improsined within this grave. Forever will you live, yet be dead. Perhaps one day Anubis will have mercy on you...perhaps". The closed the sarcophagus. They stood across each other with the sarcophagus in between and they raised their arms. A small ball of light formed itself above the sarcophagus and then burst into a small cloud of golden dust. The sarcophagus was now protected and the priest could not use his magic as long as he was imprisoned.
Thousands of years have passed and within Milleneum city there was a new highlight in the museum. Recently archeologists found an ancient Egyptian sarcophagus. They have been unable to open it yet though decided to ship it to the 'civilized' world where they could examine it properly. Before they would they decided to put it up for exposition. A few days after it had been placed Millenium city was attacked by an alien race! The museum was blasted to bits and little remained undamaged. The sarcophagus included. With the top split open Chael-mon Ra was once again free. He pushed the lid off with the little strength he had and climbed out. He looked at his hands and then up and spoke: "Anubis...forgive me. I will to what I must to make up for what I have done."
With those words Chael-mon Ra walked out of the museum, saving those who he could. When he did save them they often ran away, scared of the abomination he now is. His flesh had become a dark green and was rotten. His hair was thin and he had little of it remaining, save for the beard he had. He had to make penance. He had to do what it takes to gain acces to the afterlife. Soon he had word of a group called Vanguard. With luck they could help him, help him to help others.

{{I'm approving everyone that's posted so far on a trial ;)
You're in for now and unless I begin to disapprove of one's behaviour it should stay that way.
The hard part of managing an RP guild is that sometimes, a characters personality or actions don't mesh with the group philosophy and as such I can be wary of certain darker characters. I'm also going to paste Aegis' line-up on the character list and it isn't meant to slight anybody. The "Alpha team" won't be too large but will be the core of the Vanguard, all other members are considered the extended team and as much a part of the group as anyone else. Think of the Alpha's as the role models and public face of the team as well as the left hand of the leader.
Chat is divided into three.
Supergroup chat is for roleplaying in, think of it as the team comms system.
Officer chat will only be acessible to the Alpha team and used for personal/guild management
We have also set up a public channel that is accessible through the chat options, simply click the channels tab and type in "Vanguard RP" this channel is for external players to communicate with the guild (i.e apply or ally) as well as non role-played group chat.
Chat instructions added to info section of first post}}
The cameras flashed, the clouds floated by lazily and the sun shone off the marble veneer of Millennium City Hall as Aegis made his way to the podium. Speculation had been rife for a months but now, at last, Aegis' the last active member of the Vanguard was announcing his new, hand picked team. The official comment had hit the news networks last night and now the young hero was faced with reporters not only from Millennium City, but the whole of the U.S.A and a crop of world-wide specialist journalists from the field. His heart pounded, his skin clammy beneath the helmet and as he set foot onto the wooden dias, his voice and body language betrayed nothing. Mayor Biselle stood to the side, beaming... revelling in the publicity and talking quietly with his aide while the men and women that had been slowly contacting him over the last few months waited in the shade of the building out of sight to come on one by one as their names were called.
"Hello"
The heroes words rang clearly, marred only a little by the electrical feedback in the speakers and all conversation ground to a halt.
"The last time I stood here before you all, I waited eagerly in the wings of City Hall revelling in my chance to make a difference, to be a hero. Being chosen to join the Vanguard was an honour and young as I was... I knew that at long last II had found a place that I truly belonged. For a few short years we toiled to make this world a better place, not just Millennium City but Japan, Europe, Africa... in that short time we fought monsters, aliens, gangs... and always we stood strong as a team.
The events that led to the dissolution of the group are painful to me, what transpired in the city that day a blight on my conscience, my career... and my soul. Good men and women lost their lives or worse, their willingness to do what was right and I regretfully ask your forgiveness for my absence from crime fighting. During the last two and a half years I myself have fought depression, misanthropy and nihilism, leaving the job of protecting innocent lives to the rising legion of superheroes but for every light there is a shadow, and not all of the increased metahuman population are of sound moral judgement.
For every hero there is a villain, for every team, a syndicate and though I have returned to the world of heroism, I cannot stand alone against the inexorable tide of darkness.
Today we gather here to announce the return of the Vanguard"
The crowd exploded, a million questions fired at once while the mayor stepped to the microphone, his podgy hand clasping the black handle as he pulled it from the stand.
"Now now people, settle down... all questions will be answered at the press meeting after the announcement... Aegis, if you'd like to take the stand?"
Once more, the microphone was passed into the silver-armoured hands of the young would-be leader and lifting it to his lips he closed his eyes for a second. When he opened them they glowed.
"Firstly, I would like to thank you all for being here and my second act is to announce the man that will act as deputy leader and manager for the team... that man is known as Scion."
Nodding happily to his friend in the wing, Aegis shifted slightly to the side as the crowd frantically scribbled on notepads and laptops, eyes never leaving the stage.

Character Name: Kastor (Kastor "Clockwork" Marcellus)
Gender: Male
Age: 32
Species: Human (Though a curious one at that)
Abilities: Close-contact electrokinesis that allows a sort of dialogue with most machines (also useful for acting as a source of power). Built and maintains his own suit of highly specific power armor. Considered to be intelligent, if slightly unstable.
Bio: Kastor is a sort of walking tragic comedy. He's managed to stumble from the end of one world, to what would seem to be the end of another, in a dimension that's entirely separate from his own. The exact conditions of his arrival are murky, at best. What's certain is he's a bit more "with it" than initial interactions would suggest, and that he's no stranger to violence, interrogation, and close scrutiny, as his multitude of scars, ever-present mocking cadence, and odd ability to drop off the grid all together would attest to. Whenever pressed for the source of any of these traits, he simply makes some allusion to a "sky on fire" and being one of the last few "folks in red." What he may mean by this, as the armor he wears has a glossy black color, is a mystery.
Application RP:
After the sun had gone down, and the majority of the populace was tucked nicely away in their beds, contently resting, eating, and relaxing after a day's work, a gaunt, disheveled looking man plodded down the street.
For the longest time, the only sound to be heard in the west end of the city is a pair of heavy footsteps. Every now and again, a figure swathed in a long dark coat and wide-brimmed hat moves through the street lamps, it's hand fidgeting with something all the while. Hoisting a rather large, clanking pack over it's shoulder, the figure continued it's meandering course down roads most would rather not travel. As it reached a highway ramp leading to the more well-kept areas of this seemingly sleepy metropolis, it paused a moment. A light flickered off the contents of the pack, just barely visible from the over-stressed closures. A pair of chapped lips cracks a smile from under the brim of the hat, and a voice that was decidedly off-key began to, seemingly compulsively, sing a song that one would hope was familiar to the owner. "Hello darkness, my old friend..." It's left hand still fidgeting with something, it resumed it's trudge. "I've come to talk with you again."
The man's name, known more to the authorities than the neighbors in the apartment building he currently resided in, was Kastor. Kastor Marcellus, as he would introduce himself. "Because, a vision, softly creeping..." Kastor continued, a particular set of pictures dancing around the cluttered mess that was his brain. "Left it's seeds while I was sleeping..." A red sky, a broken town, a host of faces that seemed fuzzy and indistinct. Fire. "And the vision...that was planted in my brain. Still remains..." He paused a moment, his left hand still fidgeting. "Within the sound...of silence." With a flick of his wrist, the object in his left hand is tossed upward. Those passing by, or glancing out their windows to see just who might be wandering and singing a jaunty little tune at this hour, would recognize the shape to be a dog-tag. As quickly as it leaves his hand, it's plucked from the air, and stashed inside the pockets of his coat.
"In restless dreams, I walked alone..." he renewed his travels, his stride seemingly filled with a new-found vigor. "On narrow streets of cobbled stone." With another flick, he lifts the brim of his hat, setting his eyes, covered by a rather bright set of blue lenses fixed to metallic goggles, on the building called The Guardtower. A whirring emanates from the optics as he strides in and out of light. "...'Neath the halo of a street lamp...I turned my collar to the cold and damp." The lights passed, and one by one, they seemed brighter, and all the more brief. The brim came back down shortly afterward. "When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light. Split the night."
"And touched the sound...of silence." A stray garbage truck trundled along beside him for a moment, speeding up as it noted that, while odd, he wasn't quite odd enough to call the police over. With a quick step, Kastor hopped onto the rear, and slung his fingers around the bar near the opening at the back. The truck continued it's route, apparently already full, at a decent clip, it's driver not seeming to notice his new passenger. "And in the naked light, I saw..." The truck took him past the center of the city, still bustling with life at this hour. "Ten thousand people, maybe more..." It's route continued east, "People talking without speaking..." Past a shop with a variety of curious designs on the front, past a rather conspicuous crater. Past a building with some sort of fierce visage scorched into it's surface. "People hearing without listening..." Spotting his destination, he hopped off, stumbling a bit as his boots hit the pavement. "People writing songs...that voices never shared." Another set of faces, this time the details sharper. A man with dark hair. A grinning woman. Thin, wire-frame glasses. Someone short and round. "And no one dared..." The building was quiet. Looming, almost. "Disturb the sounds...of silence." He calmly strode to the front of it, his posture straightening with every step, the impact of his boots becoming lighter and lighter.
"Evening!" He shouted. "If anyone is awake, I'd like to be let in. I have a proposition for you!"
((And, so, there's my application. I apologize in advance for the length, and wordy nature.))

Name: Black Hazard(Real Name Secret)
Gender: Male
Age: Undisclosed
Species: Human
Bio:
"War changes people. At least from what I've seen. Sometimes its for the best, others its the worst. I like to think I'm one of the former. Anyway you want to know about me? Fine. I grew up humble. Never had anything to show off or really to call my own. My father did own a small shop but that’s irrelevant. Regardless, I’ve been told its best not to give out too many details. When I got a bit older things changed. The young people began to move out and can’t say I was any different. Except I joined the military and they had dreams of being doctors, lawyers and business men. Had I known then what I do today I’d have probably followed them. A war came and I saw many dark and evil things. I managed to overcome though. Hell, I was even picked up for a special armored division program. I wasn’t going to consider it but they told us we’d be doing good. That’s what they told us anyway. Once joined we became little more than glorified assassins, only we had the power of tanks. They trained us to not give a damn about our own lives or anyone who got in our way…. Even civilians. Once the evils we were doing became public we were decommissioned. We all went through intense therapy, they tried to make us a suited for public life again. It worked for me…. Look up my comrades and you’ll find they went to a home for care now… Anyway, I was placed back in civilian life. I enjoyed a few months of a peaceful life until I was approached again. This time it was for a secret op. Apparently the commander of my special armored division went AWOL, taking an armored suit with him. They wanted to re-commission me to help stop him. Except this time I was a good guy. They gave me full reign over the armor to stop my old commander. I don’t answer to anyone anymore but I will be watched. This is my chance to become the man I want to be… The man I NEED to be….”
RP App:
Black Hazard stood before the Vanguard Watchtower unable to take a step further. “No you need to do this, this is your chance to help the most people.” He quietly says to himself. He finally closes his eyes and takes a few more steps. His armor begins to beep detecting a minor collision and he quickly opens his eyes. He was now an arms reach from the door, he felt his heart stop. “No, I’m not the man for this. What if they know what I’ve done.” After standing at the door a few moments he finally takes the final steps into what he hopes will be the best decision of his life. As he steps in he thinks to himself, “All men deserve redemption.”

Guard 2: "What did your mother pack you this night..."
Guard 1: "My GIRLFRIEND packed me left over filet mignon, moron"
Guard 3: "Je suis une grande pomme de terre...."
Guard 2: "We know you are....."
Guard 1: "You guys see the news this morning?"

Guard 1: "I don't know but....."
*The ground began to shake. The three Guards stombled to their feet"
Guard 3: "Ques qe?!"
Guard 2: "ENGLISH!"
Guard 1: "Earthquakes? Here?!"
*Seconds later a flash that seemed like a star had just gone super nova appeared in front of the tower. The three men grabbed their gear and yelled up to the two in the tower to arm the guns. The three on the ground formed up and began to investigate the 6 foot diameter crater now in front of the tower*
*The men stood at the edge of the crater peering down at the dirt, still glowing white from the flash*
Guard 1: "What the....."
Zellis: "VANGUARD!"
*The three men covered their ears and dropped to the ground. His voice was as loud as an active volanco, shocked the air as a nuclear explosion would.....and came from behind them. After recovering the short daze, the three guards turned around with their guns aimed at the being*
Guard 2: "Stop right there big guy! You got about half a second to explain what you are, who you are and what the *@($ you want!"
*Zellis lifted his head and beneath his old hat were two of the most deep, white, tired, venegful and piercing eyes the three guards had ever seen*
Zellis: "My name is Zellis", he said quitely. "I have come to your planet in search of two beings. They are here......and they will meet their demise here." Zellis walked closer to the guards. "I seek Aegis and the Vanguard."
Guard 2: "Well, Zellis....."
*The guards lowered their weapons*
Guard 1: "We will inform him of your pressence"
*Zellis pulled out a pennant and bent down to place it on the ground. His whisper was in a tongue that the guards could not understand. He stood up and looked down at the three men....*
Zellis: "Tell him that I, Event Horizon, needs his assistance......."

For the moment, I've created a cheap template site for the New Vanguard to get everyone together on the same page.

Until Aegis or someone else gets around to creating a real one, this can work.

The wind blew along the rooftops as the sheer white skinned creature gazed down upon the news crowd, unlike so many could easily walk amongst the humans he had troubles with such a simple feat. The stares, and gasps he got by those people always unnerved him. He stared on still as he stuck a piece of hard tack candy in his mouth and crunched it. This place was still so new to him and confusing and yet intriguing all at the same time, he found it comforting to see others like himself to some degree.
Reizama stared down on that crowd and the man he came to listen to, because it was an old news paper clipping of the vanguard led him here, and new a new on joined it. He didn't know they had split up, he came from a far, to see this fabled tower which now stood dark. Still gazing down on this man claiming to be reforming this group, it seemed promising. Now was a matter of seeing him alone, and speaking with him. Still for now he listened to the news his tail flicking back and forth, he'd have his say and prehaps... find a place to call home once more...besides this city looked like it could use all the help it could get.

((Firstly hello to everyone, Lokai (Reizama) put me onto the guild. If any of you are from the old COH days and listened to MMORadio you may have heard the SandShock spot that was run on there. I used to write spots and sketches for the show and its DJ's, afterall there's got to be something for people to listen to through the grind. I've been RPing in one shape or another for probably 10 years or so, if its casual then i'll usually crack jokes IC but if things get serious I'm always game for that. All depends on the people your with))
Name: SandShock - Shock to his friends
Description: Only 5'11" SandShock is slim but built with red and yellow streaks through his hair and white skin. Anytime he is spotted out in the thick of things you can be sure to spot him by his trademark Red and Yellow suit with lightning bolt(s)
Personality: You could describe SandShock as.... energetic. He is to my knowledge the only super hero with (mild?) ADD and you'll notice it right off the bat. While serious and craving the recognition that only being a true hero can bring SandShock isn't exactly known for being to the point, be it his ADD, mutation of super speed or being struck by lightning, SandShock will often jump from subject to subject before the other person has even realised what he's on about. But despite these (ahem) quirks Shock is a loyal and steadfast hero, eager to protect his friends and innocents alike
Powers: Super Speed - Mutation, Extreme Electrical Generation - Science/Mutation
Origin: SandShock was all ways a strange kid, from an early age he displayed signs of classic ADD, unable to focus but at the same time eager to learn it was after being thoroughly examined at Northwick Park Hospital within Millenium City that the doctors diagnosed his ADD as a bi-product of mutation. His cells are forming and decaying at an extremely accelerated rate, while initially he had only been examined for a case of possible ADD it had turned out that if left unchecked this rapid growth and decay of cells could lead to a very short life span.
In an effort to slow the cells the medical staff at Northwick Park came up with the solution to stabalize his bodys cells by modifying his already active mutant genome to provide stability by slowing the body clock. In a panicked but clear mind SandShock's parents decided to go ahead with the risky procedure, willing to risk the genetic alterations all to give their son the chance to live a normal life.
After a marathon surgery the doctors were satisfied with their work, they had managed to curb the effects of the accelerated growth. While the surgery itself had been a success SandShocks body underwent another mutation in the months after. It should be stated that the human body is a marvelous thing, well known for being able to adapt and grow to compensate its own biology to keep the whole running. In this case it was the mutated genome that again altered and while it was no longer able to accelerate the cells within the body it instead began to increase the voltage between the synapses, gradually increasing throughout his young age and into adolecence.
It was in his teens that SandShock found this new mutation manifest itself when he purposefully walked around in his socks planning to give a static shock to his brother, sneaking up carefully on his elder brother Shock touched his ear with one finger and managed to of course shock him.... the shock however was enough to burn a hole clear through the earlobe. Aghast at what had happened the family rushed his brother to Northwick Park Hospital, the same exact hospital he had been diagnosed a mutant at years earlier. His brother underwent surgery to repair the ear but he never again regained full hearing with it. The electrical current had overloaded his nerve endings leaving him partially deaf.
Shock was again taken back to the doctors and examined, they determined the change in the mutation which had not been detected before as it was far and beyond anything they had been monitoring up until this point. The body had changed the nature of the mutation from accelerating cell growth to instead the amount of voltage the body could produce. The doctors ran their tests and researched remapping his Mutant Genome all over again but they were stumped, in the experiments any change made led to another mutation and even attempting to prevent any mutation within the genome itself was never 100% successfully, infact each procedure was predicted to lead to another change in the genome and there was no telling what the effect would be.
In the end Shock decided to opt out of the procedure, he wasn't 18 yet at this time but he was certain that he would be fine with managing this problem.... maybe if he just wore rubber gloves the rest of his life he wouldn't have to worry about ruining another life. It was this guilt over the damage his caused that led him to the life of a super hero. In the following years he went to University and got a degree in both Genetics and Robotics simultaniously and wrote a dissertation on "Genetic Manipulation Through Mobile Robotics" in essence he designed the basis of a suit that would monitor and regulate electrical flow within the body and the ability to store it and also direct it in a focused jolt of electricity.
His percieved ADD infact appeared to be an extraordinary level of activity within his brain, while conversation actually appeared to be him flying between topics his mind had already processed most of what he subconciously deemed relevant. It was this latent talent that gave him the knowledge and ability to not only finish 2 simultanious degrees but engineer a robotic suit.
With the knowledge of how dangerous his own body has become he has risen above that with his mind and crafted a suit capable of harnessing his power, in this world where both Heroes and Villians reside SandShock is a self made man with not only guilt over his past but resolve about his future and opting to put not only his cursed body but his blessed mind together in a vain attempt to be a real man and do his best for those who can't stand up.
((Not proof read or really read through myself but thats the character, a lot of stuff i do IC such as only fight while in my robotic outfit and mainly use my spandex look for public apperances and long distance travel. Of course this is just the begining of a character all ways a lot of fun to see where everything ends up after you RP!))
