View Full Version : Fire/Heal hybrid question

I've looked through all the posts I can find on building a fire based healer and although there are alot of different versions NONE of them seem to be leveling builds or give any information as to why they use the powers/ability's they do or even how to use them. I've rolled several melee and 1 caster but all DPS so healing will be new to me anyways.

So I guess my question is, should I just level as Fire till 40 then re-spec or try to level as a hybrid to gain the experience and if so does anyone know of a working leveling build for just such a creature?

Thanks for any input.

Level 14: Protection Field -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 17: Support Drones -- Rank 2, Rank 3

PRE scales not only the heals, but also the energy unlock and the bubbles.
INT reduces the energy costs and the cooldowns on the AO, AD and palliate.
Use the bubbles on the target you're healing so that you actually heal and not just staving off the damage.

when you attack tap fireball and then use conflagration.

use unbreakable when youre about to die or when you need to rez a friend.

That one's got a lot of solid stuff (though I personally wouldn't bother with Support Drones, maybe Heatwave+adv, Fire Snake or Pyromancer Blades.)

One thing not mentioned is how to deal with Thermal Reverb before getting FlashFire. One option is to temporarily go with Fire Shield, which can put Clinging Flames.

For Mindful Reinforcement, I highly recommend the adv, which makes it easily spammable.

Shivanic you are a toon saver. :)

I just started a dark toon according your suggested build to me. At first I tried with other powers and I understand why you left those attacks out of build.

Anyway I wonder why you include Arcane Vitality to build. I am using that one on my support toon and Empathic healing on my main. Is emphatic healing or psionic healing worse than AV?

Empathic and Psionic healing are both focused on focus-healing single targets, while Arcane Vitality's cone healing is more for party/pet top-up. If you're in a group and you aim AV well, you can heal the tank, the melee dps, the pets and maybe a ranged ally or two - but gotta keep in mind that AV loses healing effectiveness per target with more targets being healed, and it's also a VERY easy way to draw heal aggro.

With MR (and I prefer to get the Advantage if I'm SS Int), you don't really need to out-right heal people often. On my lvl 40 Fire healer/dps with SS Pre/Int, my MR bubbles protect for 1.8K, cost around 40 energy to cast, and breaking bubbles gives me around 60 energy - and it takes less than 3 seconds to cast it on everyone in your party. I haven't had too much trouble with it even in Elite, provided everyone in the team does their job. But actually healing draws an unfortunate amount of aggro onto the healer, especially if the enemies haven't been tagged by the tank's CS or one of the dps - any damage/threat will override heal aggro.

I forgot about cone healing of AV.

Still need to learn about CO healing mechanics. I need to level up my MR users to see it in action. Keep hearing it is quite good.

I've a link in my sig (The Phoenix) that may be of use to you.

As for levelling... just take Throw Fire, Fireball, Fiery Breath (keep at top of retcon list), use in Sentinel for more energy if you wish, and keep on using that until lv14 where you can retcon into Conflag and Flashfire. With these, the 'Fire' part of the build is more or less done and whether you go for personal defenses and utility or group healing depends on whether you intend to be a group healer before lv40 or not.
