Hey all,

Preface: PVE discussion only, I don't care at all for PVP. Also, this is mostly for solo, or soloing with pets. On anything from normal to elite, including the lairs that are accessible when solo. I tend to pick regeneration and a plethora of supporting defenses to add to its survivability. My personal force field character up until just this last patch, seemed utterly unplayable because I could just not survive long enough in the low levels to have fun and level up. I don't include energy builders as 'primary attack' except for a pet class gadgeteer. I haven't tried invulnerability since just after live launch because my power armor character was destructively gimp from her closed and open beta builds. Lightning reflexes I only dink around with on a martial arts theme character and use it with the standard combo of powers/advantages to give it some healing. It still seems underwhelming without good dex gear in the low levels.

Body:

Who else basically just uses one attack over and over to mash groups of foes? Maybe a simple synergy between some on next hit powers or something, but basically just one attack?

My first gal from closed beta to open beta all the way through launch til now just uses Pyre. She'll pop flashfire, sonic whatever, and toxic nanites for the hell of it, but basically all her other powers are in place so she can crush foes in a patch of firey pyre.

My shadow character just ended up using shadow embrace all the time (I haven't played him since before the pet patch, or actually before serpent lantern or demonflame...) I think there's a lot more to like about shadow lately, but back when I really wanted lifedrain and devour essence to be something, they just didn't pack any punch, and were crap for healing.

My bestial character uses venomous breath now, after trying a complex vile lariat/vicious cyclone, howl, bite, enrage, devour type combo. I occasionally dink around with different combos to get bleeds/fears/enrages stacked up, but really all I need to do on him is pop venomous breath ranked up to 3 on every single group of foes.

My ice character? I rarely played her after like the second week of live, but basically just shatter. I think I'll like her a lot more now though.

My celestial character I do just use celestial conduit. Illuminate an enemy, maintain the conduit, illuminate the next, conduit it, and everything is dead.

My gadget girl used to just use the sonic blaster energy builder when it was an AoE, I'm kinda ****ed that that is gone. She's a pet master, so she still only uses her energy builder, and support powers.

My power armor character I still can't decide on, I wanted her main power to be eye beams or micro munitions, with possible shoulder launcher as a far third. None of them are any good on their own, just testing in the powerhouse at levels 11-18. Plus her theme as an organic power armor alien just doesn't fit any of the power armor powers, so she's basically been scrapped forever. For a while I put a gauntlet chainsaw on her just to level her up some.

My fire/ice/lightning character is the one that if I ever get around to playing him, will probably have the most awkward combo, trying to get the most out of energy storm.

Since I don't like melee characters, or the martial arts/brick powersets at all(or the ego power set for the most part) I've pretty much decided on what will be my main attack for every alt from here to eternity. I enjoy it, but does anyone else play differently?

I imagine playing a character that takes all of the lunges, Void shift, Thunderbolt Lunge, Pounce, Mighty Leap, and trying to play them as a sort of intelligent teleport-fighter. (Intelligence for the cooldown reduction since they all obnoxiously have cooldowns.) Basically void shift is the opener, then maybe mighty leap, then thunderbolt lunge and pounce. Might use one of the backflip type attacks to get some distance to make lunges look cooler. But... that's tons of power choices for such a tiny amount of damage, and you really ought to rank three your primary damage attack(s). So voidshift and pounce rank 3'd for sure. No idea what passive or secondary superstat I'd want. It also seems just too hectic, that I'd bore of the character after one fight.

I don't know why I don't get bored spamming the same attack over and over, but really, with advantage points the way they are, and how necessary it is to spend them in survival/support abilities, why have anything more than one rank three attack to do everything?
