I went to the hero games website but i can't tell if its comics or for the pen and paper game, if they had some comics i could read that would be pretty cool. Would help if someone could clarify or something.

Back in the 80's there was a group of players that made an ongoing series about their characters they created in the Champions Universe. They parted ways with Hero Games some time ago, but I don't think the series is still going nor is it still in print.
I can't really find anything on them aside what I remember, anyone else had any luck?

Everything on the Hero Games site is rulebooks and supplements for our PnP game; we don't publish any comics.

Last I knew, Heroic Publishing has the comic book rights to the Champions comic name, and it is in fact historically linked to the RPG, though not recently (the relevant characters were removed from the Champions RPG with 4th edition, or possibly earlier, and the rights were split sometime back in the 80s). You can look them up, but I don't recommend it.

In 1986, Eclipse did a Champions comic based on the RPG. It featured the super group "The League of Champions" in the six issue mini-series published by Eclipse Comics in 1986 called just "Champions".
Note - It was due to the comic and playing the RPG with a regular group that the original Solar Dynamo was created. :)
Members were:
Giant - size and strength increase using a special harness
Marksman - weapons and enhanced reflexes
Flare - strength and light (fire?) based powers
Icestar - ice powers
Rose - various psychic abilities
It also feature Doctor Arcane and later Sparkplug and Icicle.
Due to some drama, there was a Retcon for some heros: Rose became Psyche, Marksman became The Huntsman, and Foxbat became The Flying Fox.
They also did a team-up with a group called the Southern Knights for a small run. Electrode (electricity), Connie (psychic swords), Kristin (strength and invulnerability), Dragon Aramis (sorcery).

You know...I guess I need to dig around my garage because I do have all six issues. Maybe I should do a contest of some sort. LOL!
If you were referring to the Marvel Champions, well...I have that number one as well.

Nice!, also go to wowio.com, type in 'Champions' or 'League of Champions', collapse under sheer weight of backdated archive.

Solid Gold! I'm going to get some just for nostalgia sake. :P
EDIT - People can also search for Flare and I just remembered...Marksman had his own book so add that to your searches.
Thanks!

The Marksman book, written by Steve Perrin, was very short lived, but pretty good for its day.
I wish Steve had done more comics work.

You don't see Eclipse mentioned often, though certainly more than slightly over a year back for reasons most comic book fans know.
If you have physical copies of THAT series in good condition, give me your address so I can come and pull a heist on you :P

Agreed, huge Runequest fan here (have a complete collection of the Chaosium run, short Wyrm's Footnotes #1, 2 and 4). Him, Paul Jaques, and Aaron Allston are my fav gaming writers of all time...
There's another guy, Scott something, wrote a bunch of stuff like the awesome Day of the Destroyer and VIPER modules; great stuff. I wonder what ever happened to him?

Jup!!!
Herc, Black Widow, Angel, Iceman, and Ghost Rider fighting villains like Hive who was MADE OF BEES!!!!
I think they said "Let's make a team out of everyone who doesn't have their own comic", logic be damned...
It's like Scotch-Korean, it made no sense...

I understand he's been forced to live in Canadia and is slowly going insane as a result. ;)

I was a major collector in my teens and most of my twenties and yes, they are in that good of condition. They've been stored and polybagged for like 20+ years now.

I had a picture of the miniseries as my avatar for awhile. It is weird to see what names/characters are still actively part of the IP and which got "lost" to Heroic Publishing, especially after playing the original RPG up through 4th ed. I still have "horrible" flashbacks to Foxbat telling me how to make my character better in Champs 2 (and no, I did not send him any of my spare xp). :D

Well, since you have THAT series stashed away like that, I request that you tell me the location of this stash so I can do my duty to mankind and liberate those issues for the people (me) to read and keep on shelves.

To Solar Dynamo:
I too have the Marvel Champions (my fave supergroup; have every issue) and I was sad to see them go (the Johnny Blaze version of GR has always been my favorite). I don't think they were given a fair shake.
...fighting villains like Hive who was MADE OF BEES!!!!
Actually, his name is Swarm, and to those who saw the really bad version of him on Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, the comic version was a thousand times better. I know, I have no life.....
And as long as we're talking old supergroups, The Justice Machine rocked!

Looks like the entire series for 1.50 per issue if anyone is intrested.

I have one of the old school Champions modules that has Marksman on the cover, Day of the Valkyrie or some such. Time travel and Nazi fightin'. Good fun.

The early Champions module, "Wings of the Valkyrie" by Rob Bell, can be found here:
