View Full Version : Help needed, building Magnetic controll / Telekinesia char

Hello,

I have been wanting to do Magneto type character for a long time and could not make it fun and soloable in PVE but now when passive scaling is about to change i decided to try again.

I made this mess...
I try to explain what I'm after with this and you could tell me if it could be done better.

Super Stats: not sure what to do mayby PRE/INT
PRE for the Mindfull Reinforcement (my "Magnetic Force Field") and for self healing. INT for reducing cooling time and reducing energy costs for powers.

Synergys: Force=Crushing, Telekinesia=Crushing boosted by Enrage. Would that work?

Powers that resembles Magnetic powers would be: Force Cascade (opening attack), Telekinetic Maelstorm (main AoE attack but worried about cooldown), Ego Hold (magnetic "grasp"), Protection Field (magnetic bubles protecting others).

Other powers: Electric Sheat (does this power boost "all damage" like Ice Sheat?) for energy form and Field Surge for energy form also. Defiance for passive (defence and enrage), enrage to boost damage.

Other powers that did not make the cut where: Telekinetic wave (Magnetic push), Telekinesis (this would have been excelent power for magnetic char but it so hard to use so I did not choose it),

I'm probably doing it wrong (again) but I'm sure I get great advices again so I can make my Magneto work for me.

You actually have some good ideas here, but if you can wait until F2P hits this concept will be a lot easier to pull off.

Psst, Defiance is still going to scale with CON. Since it's defense is based on stacks of a buff, rather than inherent in the power, and the buff's scaling has not (and probably will not) change.

Mind you, Defiance is perfectly usable without CON, and its synergy with Enrage is still useful.

Aren't passives suppose to scale with SS's in the f2p changes(regardless what they are)?
If not I'll need to rethink a build for after f2p launches, since I may have the wrong info.

I tought that too?

If thats true I may have to change something in my build.

Also I found this excellent thread where Frozenbone has done similiar build http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=122006&highlight=force good information there so I updated my build little bit.

Still wondering about Defiances scaling with Super Stats tought...

Here basically my char cast Circle of Arcane Power and then Gravitational Polarity to boost damage and the, next is Ice Sheat for damage and Energy Form then just blast with Force Cascade (this is also boosted with Enrage).

For defence I cast Mindful Reinforcement and if enemy comes close to my "power spot" I turn on the Telekinetic Maelstorm also boosted with Gravitational Polarity and Enrage.

Howl is good for getting enrage.

Defiance is one of the very few exceptionsto the passives scaling with SS thing.

The reason its an exception is that defiance doesnt provide defense directly on its own. What it does is allow you to build stacksof the defiant buff. Those stacks of that buff are what give you protection, not defiance itself.

The distinction is important because defiance the power is not the only way to get stacks of the defiant buff. If they made stacks of that buff scale differently based on how you got it (for example having the stack from defensive combo scale off Con while the stacks from the passive scaled off SS) would be an additional layer of complexity that is being avoided at this time.
