Looking over the proposed AT's.... a lot of people seem to think they suck....

Can we do better??? (no doubt....)

Poz, I have to say you have some super duper build experts on this forum. no doubt that have logged a lot more time in toon creation and leveling than any staffer...why not have an AT build competition? With the focus on fun builds NOT uber builds.

Just a thought.

I want to think that Cryptic is operating on information I simply don't have, that they have significantly shifted powers around and changed the stats they scale off.

Because if they have not, I could come up with a vastly superior build for every single archetype in 30 minutes or so. It wouldn't even be hard.

There's plenty of things that are sub-par about those builds even if they've changed the stat base for passives.

AT build contest would be pretty rad. Especially a more themed one, rather than sticking with one tree.

The powers are a bit meh but I like the concept behind them. Where you have specific roles for each archetype... such as you have the tank builds, then the usual DPS, and the support/healer archetypes. Instead of it being an open system as it is now where everyone can solo and be a jack of all trades, thus erasing all need to team.

So if anything the AT idea behind them would prompt the silvers to actually want to team and break the solo minded play style everyone currently has in this game. which i think would do wonders for this game in bringing the community together, so CO actually begins to feel like an MMO and not a single player game.

I could see this as a monthly contest. Cryptic would set the theme, such as electric build. The level 1 powers, and 4 other powers must be electric. The winner would get the AT, and a free slot, and some CP. Then cryptic, for that month could sell that build with slot in the C-Store.

Here's my revised archetypes. They're built the way players actually do things, but I'm trying to also manage a theme. These builds are flawed, but should be adequate.
Inferno:
1: Throw Fire
1: Firestrike (crippling challenge applier)
6: Recovery
6: Fire Breath (clinging flames applier; clinging flames could use a buff)
8: Fire Form
11: Thermal Reverb (so people actually thinking clinging flames are cool)
13: Presence
14: Fire Shield
17: Conflagration (your bread and butter attack for the next 23 levels)
22: Fire Ball (unstable accelerant applier)
27: Smoke Bomb (smoke is in theme, and threat wipes are good for avenger builds)
32: Immolation (this could do with a defensive advantage, similar to the one for electricity)
40: Fire Snake (Flash Fire isn't needed if you have Fire Breath/Spitfire)
Soldier (I'm using 'soldier' themed weapons here, which is actually hard; pistol slingers are easier to build)
1: Steady Shot
1: Assault Rifle
6: Dexterity
6: SMG Burst (can this become Assault Rifle Burst?)
8: Targeting Computer
11: Frag Grenade (CC attack)
13: Ego
14: Retaliation
17: Killer Instinct
22: Smoke Grenade (threat management)
27: Mini Mines (bleh. I'd take Breakaway Shot or Holdout Shot, but both have pistol animations)
32: Masterful Dodge
40: Sniper Rifle
Blade
1: Reaper's Touch
1: Reaper's Caress (bleed applier; may also become your AoE spam)
6: Dexterity
6: Thunderbolt Lunge
8: Enlightened Warrior
11: Shuriken Throw
13: Strength
14: Parry
17: Dragon's Bite (Bleed Refresh, applies Rush)
22: Swordsman Form
27: Inexorable Tides (debuff)
32: Masterful Dodge
40: Reaper's Embrace
Savage (yeah, massacre is very late, but Bite is an adequate ST attack power)
1: Bestial Fury
1: Bite (applies Bleed, applies Enrage)
6: Recovery
6: Frenzy (spammable AoE)
8: Regeneration
11: Pounce
13: Constitution
14: Parry
17: Supernatural Power
22: Aspect of the Bestial
27: Resurgence (maybe replace with Howl; resurgence isn't that important on regen)
32: Massacre
40: Rebirth
Behemoth
1: Clobber
1: Roomsweeper (spammable AoE, fast CC attack, generates Enrage)
6: Strength
6: Mighty Leap
8: Defiance
11: Enrage (as currently implemented, enrage is OP, but Growth is essential to a Behemoth)
13: Constitution
14: Retaliation
17: Haymaker (yeah, it's early for a T3)
22: Aggressor
27: Hurl
32: Resurgence
40: Demolish (yeah, it's a T2 power, but it's a really good T2 power)
Glacier
1: Ice Shards
1: Ice Blast (with hard frost, your spammable ST attack. Also your CC attack)
6: Endurance
6: Frost Breath (your Chill applier)
8: Ice Form (add an 'ice shell' advantage to Ice Form if you want a defensive effect)
11: Shatter
13: Dexterity
14: Ice Shield
17: Wall of Ice
22: Ice Cage
27: Ice Pet
32: Ice Barrier
40: Avalance (should this be Avalanche? It looks likely to be a redundant AoE, but not removing yet...)
As a side note, a reskin of heat wave makes perfect sense as an Ice power.
Mind:
1: Psi Lash
1: Ego Blast
6: Presence
6: Ego Sprites (ego sleep is laughable)
8: Radiant Aura (dunno what it is, but if it's AoRP, a solid choice)
11: Nightmares (this finally gets offense into the sensible range)
13: Intelligence (um..a 'mind' who isn't super-smart?)
14: Telekinetic Shield
17: Psionic Healing (yeah, slightly late, but we needed attack first)
22: Ego Hold (I'd use Mind Lock, except that Confuse is mega-broken)
27: Ego Storm
32: Telepathic Reverb (not really worth having until you have ego storm)
40: Mindful Reinforcement
Grimoire:
1: Eldritch Bolts
1: Eldritch Blast
6: Intelligence
6: Pillar of Poz (guessing this is a reskin of Condemn). Probably droppable.
8: Primal Aura
11: Storm Sigils
13: Presence
14: Eldritch Shield
17: Invocation of Vitality (guessing this is Arcane Vitality)
22: Ritual of Arcane Summoning
27: Skarn's Bane
32: Arcane Circle (not really useful until you have Skarn's Bane)
40: Hex of Suffering (sounds like a debuff)

I'd love to be involved with a build contest or two, but I'm also fairly certain the Devs have made a bunch of changes to powersets, and I don't want to try building a new one until I see what those are :)
