I don't know if it's the good place to post, but anyway.
From State of the Game:
"Plans for the next Adventure Pack are in the works, though it won't be available until after the Free-to-Play Update."
The free to play should be available early 2011....Does it mean that we will get nothing new until next year?

Later this year we should see more of the usual fixes, along with the expected holiday stuff, but we won't be releasing any Adventure Packs that match Demon Flame's level of epic-ness until after the new year. :)
The Free to Play update will also include a ton of updates to character progression, along with updates to Canada/Desert. After that, we're currently on track to release a new Adventure Pack.

There is some good news, but I'm disappointed to see that we will not even be able to see 3 adventure pack this year (which was for me the strict minimum) due to the fact that all resources will be focus on just improving what already exist.
I'm a lifetimer so it doesn't change a lot for me, but If I were a subscriber I would stop playing until next year as nothing new would come.
Also I surely be the only one as nobody point it out, but can we have some clarification about what will be done to the powers exactly, for me the SoTG wasn't very clear.

An hours worth of content is not exactly epic...

Even when they're on schedule the adventure packs come 4 months apart - add 4 months to October and you get 2011.

Well, we get a Halloween event as well as some sort of Holiday event. While they will both be pretty much what we played last year, they will still be events and such.

Means he's already dissatisfied with the game and that's going to color his posts. We already know CO doesn't do enough "epic" (his words, not mine) things to keep him happy, or he wouldn't be leaving for DCUO. He's just taking some cheap parting shots on the way out.

How can you still hammer legion when this game just shafted the LI like every game does when it goes F2P.
The point of LS is so that we don't have to ever pay a sub, that effectively gets negated when a game makes it so that no one has to pay for a sub.

We still got (and will continue to get) more stuff than they ever will. And we still don't have to pay for it.
I don't understand why this is so difficult to understand.
You're telling me that you don't want a lifetime gold subscription. Well, there's a lot of people who've been asking for Cryptic to re-open the LTS option... yes, even after they announced F2P.. I guess those folks don't agree with you that a lifetime gold sub is worthless.

The point is that you cant live my life and i cant live yours, so who are you to say that the way i see things is wrong, & vice versa. This is a loosing battle because as long as people like you accept this type of business practice it will keep flourishing. It's no coincidence that this happen around the 1 year mark of the game leading me to believe they were going to do this all along, meaning they weren't going to invest in it that much. It's not just the freebies that bother me it's the whole pie as a whole. The Epic update that was supposed to be here in the beginning of the year (Kitchen sink patch), then the lack of conversing with us, and the VB (which if we didn't rage they would have charged us<--- in retrospect i think we should have just paid for it) It everything that adds up to lead me to believe this was the plan all along. I mean i know money makes the world go around but dam cryptic this is a new low.

If I were to take umbrage at being a lifer and the game going to a F2P model (and really, I don't) it would be over the box cost. New gold folks are going to become gold member by paying the subscription fee without ever having paid for a box.
I bought a box. So did everyone who is posting right now (yes, yes, some of you bought virtual boxes. Shaddup). If Cryptic wants to salve that sore point a one-time-only deposit of about 10,000 Crptitic points into all active accounts as a thank you for being pay-to-play customers for the last year would suit me just fine.

So here is the choice the Lifetimers have then:
1. Go with the F2P model with the lifers losing nothing and gaining all future content. The game WILL gain free to player's with the high possibility of some turning to sub'ers. Thus Cryptic making money. F2P'ers will purchase stuff through the store. Thus Cryptic making money. Said money gained goes into more content for ALL.
2. Game stays as is. With a much less chance of ganing sub'ers than it would by giving F2P'ers a chance to play the game PAST the tutorial and experience more. Thus Cryptic making less than #1. Said money gained goes into more content for ALL..............just not as much and as often.
Not a lifer here. Still wish I could afford it when they offered it. In fact if they offered it again, I would do it. But untill then I'll contiue to sub, and enjoy my toons as I do now. ALONG with the new content gained from more gained money for Cryptic.
I approve of the move Cryptic.
And a great big WELCOME to all the new players!! If there is anything I can do to help your heroic adventures better......let me and my SG know!
Oh, and on the "box cost" thing. I've already made that back with the fun I have had here. Heck, you got 30 days free when ya bought it. So really you only paid 20 bucks! If you hav'nt got 20 bucks of fun here, I dont know what to tell ya. (a movie ticked for approx 2 to 3 hrs of enjoyment is pretty much 20 bucks for comparison)

This is what I don't understand. And I know it's all subjective and perspective, but really what is the issue?
They are now offering a rather robust skeleton to players for free. IMHO I think they are availing too much, but so be it, but at it's core, it is the most basic game with several features removed, and it's still in the works. The final product may be different than it currently is, and there are several things listed such as power tinting and custom archtypes which are pretty much the core of the game play.
The type of business practice you are against what exactly?
Lifetime subs, which you have and I would love, lose nothing, continue to get every AP and patch for free, get all the perks of Gold membership, and continue to not have to pay a fee, plus the limited costumes, VIP passes etc.
The F2P version of the game will have none of that, and less than standard sub. They're not getting one over on the LTS folks what with 1 costume slot, 1 bag and 2 character slots that they can't even select powers for. What they are getting is an idea, a glimpse into the possibilities that can be obtained through money. More people will likely be willing to try "the whole game" for free, only to see so much more and then jump on for pay.
If you're throwing in the whole "Epic Update" then 1) that wasn't the kitchen sink patch, 2) It was VB and while perhaps not "epic" the majority of the playerbase finds it to be their favorite zone and 3) It was free, and if you want, I'll go find the quote from Tumerboy where he states that VB was never for pay, and that there was only a discussion about the possibility, which most people on the development side were against from the begining. Again.
Finally, people don't like that the devs don't talk to us. Except, they do. A lot. Every day. What they don't do is tell us what we want to hear. That's a whole different story. Keep in mind, also, that although they love it, this is still a job to them. And that means what it means in any place of employment. There are some things that you just shouldn't say. If something isn't ready yet you don't tell your customer I'm bringing it now. Think back to any time you've had to wait for food delivery only to call and hear the guy tell you "he's on his way, the guy left like 5 mins ago" knowing full well it's bullturd and that they're throwing your food in the microwave right now because they forgot to do it. Is that really what you want to hear from developers? I'm sure that's not how you foster a relationship with your playerbase. Would you prefer silence, disappointment or lies?
I could go on, but really, there's no point. It's all subjective, you feel cheated, and nothing will change your mind.
I still want a LTS though.

If i knew it was gonna be a F2P from the start i wouldn't have bought a LS, i know people are seeing the benefits to it but as one who has (Silently agreed with those on the point that the game was lacking) dont see that letting more (F2P's) in will help. Heck my freeloading friends just called me to mock me about me handing over money for the sub and lol'd about how they want to form a guild now and play for free, i know these same guys will never buy anything because we played F2P's and they didn't even buy mounts less even bank space for that matter(The flood gates for the the true freeloaders has just been open, thanx) I really didn't have a problem paying for the pre-order, LS, CS to obtain all of the costumes and up to 12 slots worth of extra costume slots., but now i just dont know anymore. AM i now paying for the F2P to play?

An hours worth of content is not exactly epic...
You have short games that last two hours the first time around that are epic. You have DLCs for games that last an hour or so that are epic by themselves as well. An AP is pretty much the equivalent of a DLC for a non-MMO game and it was free. I'd rather have quality adventure pack that lasts 2 hours than a 4 hour grind.

And, as someone who bought multiple copies of the box, I disagree, since we got whatever bits and pieces came with the box (virtual or not) in addition to unlocking vet rewards much much much much earlier, and I don't know about you, but my 4 heal items and costume bits are much appreciated.
Also, we paid full price for the box, true, and we paid $15 a month to play, true, but, simply, everything besides oil depreciates in value over time, and regardless of the varynig price and subscription, we still got to play the game a full year and a half more than they did. You can do this with any product. Sure I could wait for the new Camaro to be in my price range in about 5 years, and pay my monthly insurance just the same to drive it, but if I want it now I'm going to have to shell out a considerable amount of cash more. Plus the free air fresheners I get every hundred days I have the car.
And finally, Cryptic doesn't owe us **** for being loyal customers. loyal customer gifts are bonuses. Our loyal subscriptions for the past year? They were to pay for play time. They weren't a favor or a gift to Cryptic, it was a damn business transaction! Why the hell does everyone treat a subscription like if it were a loan? If I for some reason felt the need to pay for porn and got a Playboy sub, I wouldn't expect a bunny, much less Heff, to come to my house, gimme a pair of slippers, shake my hand and say thanks. I'd expect a damn Playboy mag to show up at my door monthly.
In every aspect, in every respect, for every transaction we've made with Cryptic, we've gotten what we've paid for. There is no arguement there, and if there was, they'd have been taken to court a long time ago considering how bitter some of the fools who've rage quit have been. Whatever they decide to do going forward, we, all of us, already got what we paid for. Day forward is extra, or entirely new transactions.

Except I do want an LTS, am willing to pay more for one currently, on top of already having been subbed up for the past year since before open beta, and should the option become available, I would buy one right now, and in fact, just made a thread in general stating so, and I would have bought one when they were offered except I had just bought a computer so I could play this game...
I'm actually willing to lose more money than your LTS cost in total right now. I won't be getting more for nothing, I will be getting what you have, most likely for an additional $99 than you paid, plus the cost of having been subbed for the past year. I just don't see your point...
Edit:After carefully reading threw your post you make a lot of sense, i give you that but in your own words you see a problem in many things that are transpiring. And a guy left the team from VB pay experience, after stating that VB was gonna be Paid expansion(Ii believe his name was Daeke) and right after the backlash it was like everyone looked at him like "what are you talking about?" when in reality he worked with the people that work on the game.
Yeah, but the problems I see that are transpiring are simply that they are offering a smidge too much to the silver subs and should restrict it Just a tad more for the sake of the "proverbial" carrot. There just isn't enough difference between Silver and Gold to make me happy about it currently, but in the long run, once we do get more powers, vet rewards, costume options and AP's the difference will be substantial.
And yeah, the VB thing was about Daeke, and yeah, I was here for that, and yeah, that left a very bad taste in my mouth for several reasons, but since then, while Daeke was seemingly a cool dude, and while the entire ordeal of letting him go was shady as hell, and I was pretty darn mad about it, I got over it, and here's why:
1) We were told we wouldn't be paying for updates.
2) The game, at the time, was severely lacking in content.
3) We were promised more to come from the begining.
4) We were told that we would probably have to pay (by Daeke) for the content coming.
5) Daeke was suddenly unemployed shortly after the forum riot started by this news.
6) We were informed that no decision had been made.
7) We were told it would be free.
8) It was free.
9) It was clarified that at the time Daeke had mispoken.
10) It was further clarified rather recently by Tumerboy, that VB was never set for pay, and was not leaning in that direction, and was merely an option on the table.
So yes, it looked shady, but if this is what happened, Cryptic reacted well within their power when an employee accidently started a riot. I'm 100% positive Daeke never meant to hurt the game or the public, nor was he mislead nor was there any malicious intent. But the fact remained that something bad happened and it needed to be dealt with. Nobody ever looks good in that situation.
Is it possible that this is all lies? Yup. Very possible. But we don't really have any evidence one way or another, and I still stand by the fact that it could have been handled in a much much much better way, but that's that. It's not a clear cut black and white good and evil tale of oppression.

First off your assuming all i bought was a LS, i put more money into this game than you will ever know so my total amount spent on my account is way more than just some mere LTS <---(Why you keep put emphasis on something that was so devalued i will never know) and yes this was all my choice but i also thought my purchases was going towards development to make this game better, not money spent to change the system around so that 90% of the game can become free and defiantly not for a game that at launch i was told would not have game altering things in the CS. But on the whole VB i agree wholeheartedly with you.
