I purchased two lifetime accounts back in August 2009, and haven't logged into the game since at least March 2010. Now that the game is going free-to-play, will I get my $500 back?

Why should you? You are then a Gold Member without the need of paying. So nothing changes for you. Gold Members get exactly that what they got before.

From the FAQ (http://www.champions-online.com/f2p_faq), Lifetime Members have Gold Member benefits for life.
If you haven't played in a while, you should check it out. The new Adventure Pack, Demon Flame, was recently released. It has a lot of cool new content that might entice you to return. :)
