I'm worried that I'm a lifetime subscriber, how will this sudden change affect me?
Will i have to start paying to be a gold subscriber now?
Or will i still remain a lifetime subscriber?

From the FAQ: (http://www.champions-online.com/f2p_faq)

Lifetime subscribers become Gold Members automatically. They will not be charged a continuing subscription fee. Basically, nothing changes for Lifetime subscribers: They continue to have complete access to the same content, items and adventures they always have.

Making sure that Lifetime Subscribers were taken care of was one of our main objectives while planning the conversion. We wanted to make sure that they could continue to receive value for their initial investment, and that they would continue to receive the same benefits they would have if the game had remained a subscription-only model.

Here i was hoping Lifers would get something more, so they aren't just like the regular Gold members.

Ah well. :)

There's still a chance. Cryptic might change their mind. Others do it for their lifers.

Why would they? Lifers are currently like regular gold members, except that we don't have to pay to be so. Not having to pay now that the 13 month period basically means you got yourself a F2P game with all the benefits of a paid one.

In terms of investment, everything from here on out counts as profit.

I second this!

Though if they want to give me more I'll take it...

Yeah, that would be cool. Just something little to note the people that had faith in them from the beginning.

Oh well...

Hmm, maybe they could give you a special forum title and turn your names green. And in game, maybe a special title for your character, and even special costume pieces, like maybe a special Art Deco armor set, that you can wear to show off your lifetimyness. Wouldn't those options be great?

I like the idea of calling lifetime Gold members Platinum, but I'm not sure it wouldn't cause trouble further down the line.

Given the difference between Silver and Gold, the obvious assumptions made by any new player would that

a) Platinum players get lots more features than Gold (more C-Store items for free, for example)

b) There is a way to upgrade from Gold to Platinum.

Both assumptions would be wrong, and could lead to some rather nasty arguments as players demand all these extra features they think they're missing out on.

But darn, being called a 'Platinum' member would be much cooler than 'Lifetime Gold'.
