View Full Version : Need Help With Two Themed Builds

I have two ideas in mind for two new alts that I am looking forward to making. Even though I'm not sure if what I have in mind may possibly gimp the toons, I've posted what I had in mind for them down below. Please be gentle when going over it.

Possible New Toon: Triumph
Ideal Powerset: Might/Electricity
For a while now, I've entertained the idea of creating a Might/Electricity toon. I've seen only one so far in-game and ever since, I've been curious about it. For the toon's superstats, I'm thinking of STR/END and grabbing CON and REC through talents and gear. For Triumph's passive(s), I'm leaning towards Invulnerability (run in Guardian) and Electric Form (run in Avenger). Any utility powers would most likely be Agressor and Electric Shealth. As for a good block replacer, I may most likely grab Force Shield with the advantage.

Possible New Toon #2: Omen
Ideal Powerset: Darkness, but with some powers from either Telepathy or Telekinesis for Ego Damage.
For this build, I wanna her to be like the comic character The Darkness but without any pets or munitions. She can manipulate darkness and use it to form shadow blades which she uses to cut down her enemies.
To explain the shadowblades, I'm looking to bringing in some TK powers into the build. Also may even through in Ego Storm. Now for a good passive, I'm planning on going Shadow Form since it will not only boost up dimensional damage but also boots up ego damage as well. As for her superstats, I was thinking on going END/DEX and grabbing EGO and CON from talents and gear.

Now I am open for any feedback that can truly help me set these two builds up. I can really use the help and I would truly appreciate it, guys. Also if anyone is good with a Champions Builder, I would love to see a set up of a toon build. Be mindful, this isn't for PVP.

Rather than start up Champions Online and play until I have only an hour to sleep before work, I figured I'd just dabble on the forums... so here's a quick how's-this-grab-ya:

Build by championBuilder 0.4.1 (http://champions.zarzu.ch)

Download this Build here. (http://champions.zarzu.ch/download.php?download=4132g50100701210170110017zz0 00170152015016060340250020700150150031500627001201 708500170122016zz040700130175y10n5y20z5y20m5y2095y 20e5y20d5y20p25y0005y0071h0000000000000000)

: Level 40 Champion

Superstats:
Level 5: Super Strength
Level 13: Super Endurance

Powers:
Level 1: Electric Bolt
Level 1: Lightning Arc -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 5: Sparkstorm -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 5: Flight -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 8: Electric Form -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 11: Electrocute
Level 14: Force Shield -- Force Sheath
Level 17: Thunderclap
Level 20: Demolish -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 23: Mighty Leap
Level 26: Aggressor
Level 29: Roomsweeper -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 32: Invulnerability -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 35: Gigabolt -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 35: Teleport -- Rank 2
Level 38: Haymaker -- Rank 2, Rank 3

Talents:
Level 1: Feral
Level 6: Amazing Stamina
Level 9: Ascetic
Level 12: Physical Conditioning
Level 15: Bodybuilder
Level 18: Relentless
Level 21: Boundless Reserves

The first build, electric / might is pretty easily separable. The electric part has the energy builder (better to have one that's ranged!), and the maintained Lightning Arc (great attack IMO)...

Sparkstorm for PBAOE (great after a Thunderclap since if the foes are stunned by Thunderclap they MAY not be knocked -back- out of the area of Sparkstorm)...

Electrocute is a charged hold that may occassionally be useful against a ranged Villain you want to stop from using some annoying attack on you.

Demolish is a great melee attack on its own, but it also lowers foe damage resistance. You COULD get an advantage to lower the resistance even farther, but it's rare (I find) that it would be needed, unless you fight cosmics or something.

Mighty Leap is invaluable for getting up IN melee range, and it has the added perk of stunning even up to Villains if you Leap from a distance.

Roomsweeper is VERY useful, even against single targets. Charge it over, I think, 90% and you get Enraged (which with a high STR is all the better!).... to avoid the knockback of Roomsweeper, you might want to use Thunderclap first --- and Mighty Leap on the villain, since Thunderclap won't stun a villain, usually, if memory serves.

I put Haymaker in there, but if you prefer Uppercut you could go that route instead.

: Level 40 Champion

Superstats:
Level 5: Super Endurance
Level 13: Super Dexterity

Powers:
Level 1: Kinetic Dart
Level 1: Ego Blade Frenzy -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 5: Ego Weaponry
Level 5: Flight -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 8: Shadow Embrace -- Fatal Allure, Rank 2
Level 11: Spirit Reverberation
Level 14: Grasping Shadows -- Unyielding Agony
Level 17: Shadow Form -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 20: Lifedrain -- Vampiric Sympathy, Rank 2
Level 23: Ebon Void -- Voracious Darkness
Level 26: Ego Storm -- Malevolent Manifestation, Rank 2
Level 29: Mindful Reinforcement
Level 32: Ego Blade Breach -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 35: Lightning Reflexes -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 35: Teleport -- Rank 2
Level 38: Bountiful Chi Resurgence -- Resurgent Reiki

Talents:
Level 1: Absolute Zero
Level 6: Shooter
Level 9: Accurate
Level 12: Boundless Reserves
Level 15: Ascetic
Level 18: Daredevil
Level 21: Amazing Stamina

In this second build, the thing that worries me is that there are superfluous attacks: Ego Blade Frenzy (cone maintain), Ego Weaponry (single target), and ego Blade Breach (or Ego Annihilation --- seemed pointless to get BOTH)....

From Darkness, it was easy: Grasping Shadows can be interrupted, but if you START combat with it, you cannot be interrupted and it'll hold everyone in a big cone (and do damage with the advantage!)... Shadow Embrace is nice cone damage and with Fatal Allure, the foes will be yanked toward you and off their feet, which is great damage mitigation.

Ebon Void is a nice block replacer, IMO, and Lifedrain and Mindful Reinforcement should provide nice protection. I tacked the advantage onto Lifedrain since Shadow Embrace will leave almost all foes feared, so you can get the bonus healing ticks (and AoE heal capability)...

Ego Storm's Malevolent Manifestation means you can click it and forget it. The stun it provides (again and again over its duration) should help prevent foes from walking out of the range of Ego Blade Frenzy or other melee attacks.

Spirit Reverberation will give you some energy when feared foes are defeated, and most WILL be feared, so it's a nice stream of energy.

Since you were going DEX superstat, I figured I'd throw in a defensive passive, and Lightning Reflexes fit the bill... throw in Bountiful Chi Resurgence with Resurgent Reiki (extra heal ticks on a dodge) and you've got more protection than Shadow Form offers (which is to say, SOME, since Shadow Form doesn' really protect you from much at all)

Only thing I'd like to have squeezed in is Mighty Leap, to get in melee range for the Ego Blades... but you should be able to use Grasping Shadows to lock everyone down and then saunter over to start carving them up :)

In both cases, the ORDER of power choice is highly variable as I was just picking them willy-nilly as they occurred to me.

Wow, this can really work out for me (especially the Might/Electricity build.) Even though I'm still gonna take in any other addition advice before I set out and create my alts, I have to say thank you @Sorpaijen for the help you've given me thus far ^_^
