Just started today

Hello... So i decided to give champions a go... it was on sale on steam not to long ago and it seemed like a good deal.

So here I am, new to Champions, staring at what may be the most indepth character creation screen i've ever seen and feeling more then a little lost.

Any one out there offer some advice? I don't know what powers I should shoot for at all... too many shiny choices. Also some point in the right direction to where I can find some RP community online would be great too as I dabble in that from time to time.

I'm coming from many other MMOs, though most recently ******** and Warhammer. I typically like to play damage-dealing types, stuff that can lay down the hurt. As for super-heroic influences... Super technology and power-armor sound pretty cool, as I'm a fan of the Ironman type hero. I also like the sleek swift martial artist, like a ninja or perhaps batman? And the in-your face swords/claws/what ever is always cool.

So any tips? advice? places to start?

Welcome! CORP (http://www.championsonlineroleplayers.com/forums) is where a good chunk of the RPers hang out.

Here (http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=110987) is a good guide to builds and power sets. I recommend at least browsing it. The builds listed are by no means the only ones that work, but with so many "shiny choices" it can be pretty easy for a new player to unintentionally gimp themselves.

You may want to check over in the Supergroup Recruitment Station forum for supergroups. There's a Supergroup Directory in the stickies that has a list of supergroups according to the areas they focus on. There are several really good RP groups out there, depending on what it is you want to do with your character. (I'm more than a little partial to the Silver Guard (http://silverguard.guildlaunch.com)--feel free to stop by our website/forums!)

I am new too and I read it thoroughly. I did not follow it strictly. I took his advice about certain combos that worked well together but filled other powers out to suit my character concepts. Results have been really fun to play and I've been able to make character powers really fit my backstories without being gimped.
