First off this is an addition to my "World War Expansion" (http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=109033) idea. Before we get into the new stuff I have a zone addition to the set up previous. I know. I'm ridiculous.
The 3rd new zone for the expansion would be Washington D.C. The main reason I would want to include D.C. is because I want The All-American involved in the Empyrean War.
Ok.....War Zones.....They would be like crisis zones except on a larger scale. They would be repeatable. They would allow the cap of 100 players each and involve at least one Open mission. They would more resemble the Qulaar tutorial. There would be a War Zone for each city zone, including the new D.C. zone. The zones added for this expansion would all involve an Empyrean invasion.
Aftermath Zones: These directly follow the War Zone. The Aftermath zone directly follows each War Zone. There would be many missions that involve clean up of rubble, rescue of civilians, and restoration of order. The restoration of order missions would be specific your trade skill. Science would involve the restoration of the power grid for the city, Arms would involve rebolstering the military presence and protect the reconstruction efforts, and Magicians would work on the civilians while bolstering their spirits and healing their wounds.
That's the just of my idea. You fill in the blanks, Cryptic......

Let me just say that I approve of this idea 100%. I really like the idea of large scale open mission especially if you cap the number of participants. It kind of seems like Besieged from Final Fantasy 11 which was an AWESOME thing for that game.

I read about a little scenario in Robert Kirkman's Invincible #70 that could be used for a Warzone setting. In the issue a parasitic alien race called the "Sequids" were attempting to enslave the planet. The government put a force field around the city (Houston, TX) to contain all the people who were being controlled by a Sequid (they are kind of like brains slugs XD), free said people, and teleport them to a safe holding area.
The Sequids hid a human host in the sewer as was revealed by the hero named "Robot" and was dispatched. Super heroes 1, squishy aliens 0.
In a War Zone setting you could utilize whatever it is you used for the open mission "Great Barrier Grief" on Monster Island and have a contingent of heroes travel under the city to defeat a hidden Empyrean strike force in the sewer, which must be engaged at the same time as the main force. BEDOW!

You mean like the Vibora Bay crisis but with an Open Mission?

Ahh right thanks :)- sort of got me thinking and I was considering the pvp alterac valley in wow. In that you have the basic pvp but thereare also side missions too.
What I thought - I didn't inisitally read you suggestion properly at first is why I went down this route - is if there are missions perhaps it could tie into the open mission.
For the AI invasion to win they need specific objections - difficult as its an AI - but if its as simple as get 100 passed a certain landmark in DC.
For the players to win they have to do defend the area whilst others do these extra missions to aid in the stopping of the invasion. Example would be to heal up some primus soldiers - need to heal 50.
They then line up to help the heroes.
This isn't pvp I am suggesting and I know its not what you were proposing - just thought I would add a possible different slant on things.
Saying that more missions fcussed on mystical, arms and science is also a benefit I feel.

Your aftermath zone suggestion is a lot like the suggestion I made for a third Crisis zone that would take place in MC after the end of the Qular invasion.

Think I've made that same suggestion at some point too...
