If I cancel my subscription, how long do they keep my characters before they delete them? I'm thinking about canceling after only two months and I just want to know how long I would have before all of my characters were gone. Thanks.

Most MMOs do not delete your characters. They reserve the right to delete them to conserve storage space or whatever, but I doubt if they would, at least not for a long time.

I don't have a definite response, but I would assume they are safe.

True.

They will not intentionally delete your toons.

However, accidents do (and have) happen.

Many active players have had toons deleted.

MMOs generally give some small print somewhere saying they'll delete your character after X months of inactivity, but I don't think I've ever really heard of it happening much. Storing a character really doesn't take much space.

I played Everquest 1 from about 2000-2003 or so, and came back when SOE ran a free summer event a few years back, and after like 5 years of inactivity, my characters were still active.

I think the closest I ever saw was City of Heroes had a system that put your characters into "long term storage" if you didn't play them in months, and if you tried to log in as them it'd just pull them out of storage. The only thing was is that when they went into storage their name became available for use by other players, so if someone took it and you pull the character out of storage, you have to change the name. But name usage isn't a problem in CO, so I wouldn't expect even that to happen.
