I made a new character recently who really re-ignited my love of the game <,<

First, an explanation is in order:

This is not a particularly serious character <,< every costume is intentionally a rip off of common "Evil Overlord" stereotypes (with one exception) and 3 of them draw heavily from the Chaos Gods of the Warhammer setting. So - this isn't particularly original <,< but I'm enjoying what I came up with just the same.


Name: Kikyoku

Bio: As an actress-in-training, Natalie was always something of an oddity. Despite being only 5'4" tall, female, and a catgirl; she vastly preferred playing classically over the top 'Evil Overlord' villain roles. This never went particularly well, as the audience never took a tiny-tyrant particularly seriously.

Amusingly enough after a near-death experience at the hands of DEMON cultists, Natalie was gifted with the very powers she'd always tried to portray on stage. Rather than actually use these new-found abilities for evil, Natalie has taken on a new identity as the most hilariously over-the-top dark heroine Millennium City has ever seen.

She doesn't take her gimmick very seriously unless she's actually fighting; but it does give her an opportunity to cackle madly and generally ham it up in front of an audience! So ultimately things have worked out quite well for her.

On to the Costumes!

The first 3 I consider my best - tributes to the Chaos Gods! (Except Nurgle, >.> because a Nurgle-esque enemy is my probable Nemesis for this character)

Obviously the below are merely tributes, not direct copies from anything. It's entirely possible to divorce them from the source of inspiration and still have them work out perfectly well - but I figured I'd rather just explain the source because well... it's part of the fun <^-^>m (The weapon names for the first 3 are just embellishments to fit the themes, it's just an Axe, a Pirate's Cutlass and a Longsword, respectively >.>)

For those who don't know anything about Warhammer I figure I should elaborate on the themes of the first 3 armors a lil bit >.> so they make some sense.

*Khorne - Chaos god of war, bloodshed, skulls, and choppy things <,< Basically think of this TV Tropes entry (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AxCrazy) - in god form.

**Slaanesh - Chaos god of excess. Too much of anything basically >.> though the quote I used is a good 'basic' description; it's not comprehensive either.

***Tzeentch - Chaos god of sorcery, mutation, and all kinds of plotting. Think of someone playing chess against themselves... and the chessboard has 40 billion colors, the pieces keep shifting around, and nobody knows what's going on. >.>

I didn't do Nurgle, god of disease, because... Nurgle's kinda gross <,< and while I could probably pull it off with zombie parts; I really don't want to heh <@_@>

Very nice! I'm a little bugged I got the mechanical beast set instead of the dark fantasy armor now. Tzeentch made me go "whoa" too.

Really amazing! I have problems doing darker character, they never seem to be right, but you managed to make Kikyoku look sexy, badass and insanely powerful while at the same time adding cute cat ears and tail!

Her background is also quite funny :)

@Freygon - The Dark Fantasy armor is *definitely* worth it if you have any interest in that kind of character; it is, imo, hands down one of the best costume sets in the game at present. The only negative is that the orbs on the wrists, shoulders and feet can't be made to glow. That's easy enough to work around though!

I definitely felt my money was well spent.

Sorry for bumping an older thread, but since it's new costumes for the same character I figured it'd be better to keep them all in one place >.>

Anyway, I wasn't entirely happy with the Vampiric Overlord look, so I trashed it and created a "Dark Magical Girl" costume in it's place - I also created a new Space Queen costume, on the basis that there are Evil Overlords IN SPAAAAACE - and that being the case they really ought to be represented in my parade of overlord tropery <^.^> so I did.

Anyway, without further ado - two new costumes!

Hehe, danke <^_^> and yeah, I skipped Nurgle because he's... well kinda disgusting <,< I mean even by Chaos terms. That said...

You made a great start with that guy! <^,^>

Something feels a bit 'off' with him though -

I think if there were three things I'd change about that costume:

1) Try tinting the metal toward a sick green (use the greens up at the very very top - preferably one with lotsa yellow mixed in) - the rust tinge you've got now is great though! - Might also alter the tint on the chest armor up slightly; for some reason it just feels darker than the rest. The glow works perfectly though, I like how it looks almost like multiple eyes above the Dark Armor subligar - suitably creeptastic >.>

2) Metalize that Insignia Pauldron - it looks weird being flat cloth when the rest of the armor is metal.

3) This is more YMMV, but I'm thinking instead of the insect antenae, maybe fins or more horns. (Maybe one of those big single horns, like a Plague Bearer?)

I think you've pretty much sold me on the Swamp King set too... currently my Nemesis is a Lizardman, but I think the next one is definitely going to be Nurgle-esque, and that's going to require... parts. >.>
